This disc is really something for Discraft, and I think that when it hits the shelves it will be very well received by players. Plastic aside, the disc flies great. It is a touch faster than a normal ESP Surge, and several degrees more overstable. I've got a green one that's marked 173 and it's like Discraft's Teerex when it comes to stability. I can throw it flat (normal ESP Surge would flip) and it flies straight for awile and starts to pull left well before the end of the flight (flightpath similar to brand new Star Teebird). Its got to be Discraft's best headwind distance driver now, and it is a darn good one. Oh yeah, and the plastic is really nice as well. It is the grippiest non-dx blend I have felt, so grippy that it barely skips. Its funny to throw it really hard and watch it finish overstable and just stick. When you are used to seeing Teerexes and the like skip another 100' after they hit, it is quite surprising to see this disc just take one little hop and stick when it is coming in just as fast. I'm interested in hearing what other people's experiences are with this disc and if other colors are this overstable.

I'm talking 10-25 mph here. In this situation I would not throw my normal distance driver because it is a bit flippy and it would be difficult to control and trust. In this situation I could throw the FLX Surge like 100' farther than a Predator. When the winds are gusting 30mph+ it's a different scenario altogether and I'm no longer concerned about getting max D, but simply keeping my shot true.

Obviously I'm not paying enough attention. What is FLX plastic?

FLX is here (http://discraft.com/news_0701_flx.html). The most money plastic I've seen in a long time.

i have a pretty beat up Z predator that is still trustworthy in a 20 mph wind. I cant actually throw it about 20 feet farther than my surge on slight anny angle. Z predator = best disc ever.

I think you meant that you CAN throw it 20' farther that your Surge. My question then is, why can't you throw your Surge further? It is faster and has more glide. The Predator is stable and predictable, but you should be able to throw a Surge farther. Even Geoff Bennett throws a Surge father, and he throws forehand. I've seen CR Willey throw a Predator over 400 (forehand), but it was an X plastic one. I would venture to say that you probably arm a disc more than snapping it, and the stability of the Pred lets you really let loose and rip it, where a Surge would flip out of control. Just a guess.
