1) Awesome coverage of the 2006 PDGA Worlds
2) Buyer Beware!

I was really looking forward to seeing all the action from the 2006 Worlds on DVD...but the DVD didn't work on a few of my DVD players for simple fact that this ISN'T a factory stamped DVD...it's a cheap, for the lack of a better term, homemade copy on DVD-R media. What a tacky approach to save a few bucks. There are a lot of set top players still out there simply will not play burnt DVD media. There is HUGE difference in factory stamped and burnt DVD's. It's a fact. Why take the time to capture some really incredible play and then mass produce it on junk media? Is this where the money I put into the PDGA goes? Cutting corners and then charging top shelf price for it? I really think it sucks and would urge others to say so as well. All of the previous releases from the PDGA on DVD have been quality factory pressings, I just wish the packaging on this one would've stated that it wasn't. It would've made my decision to buy a little different... So again I say, Buyer Beware!

I hope the PDGA will correct this with future releases.

I feel your frustration..DVD played okay with only a few blips initially, but became unplayable midway through the final day of coverage..I was hoping this was only a flaw on my copy..I'm also playing it off a PS2 which admittedly is not the best at playing DVDs...

Nope mine had a nice sized scratch on the bottom. It plays good until the final nine of the Open Men. Then it starts to skip, so I still havent got to see Climo win the Championship. The coverage was good and was high quality though, and it has played on all of my DVD players.

A laptop will play just about anything you give it....

I am glad that I went with replication for my dvds, even though a lot of them came off of the center spindle, only 2 of 200 people so far has had a problem viewing the Skylands Classic dvd.

After I re-burnt a copy of it, the copy did work just fine, but thats not really my point...which is this - I think that it should've been a factory pressed DVD to start with is all. It's just a cheap way to cut corners. Copies of this type can be made and printed for roughly 75 cents...and I paid $20 for it. I would prefer a better product.

Jen, just finished watching the Skylands DVD. Good Stuff. I really enjoyed it.

I have had no issues with my copy of the '06 Worlds dvd. But that being said...you can definitely tell they are second hand dvd's and not top of the line disc's.

On a side note...Jen...loved the skyland's dvd other than the the whole British thing. But...I tend to tune it out when I watch it now. My wife on the other hand is about to break it in half /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Awesome coverage of a very sweet course. Everytime I watch, I feel like I need to take a trip out east.

I didn't say I was burning copies and selling them cheap... I had to make a copy of the one i bought and paid for from the PDGA. The packaged DVD from them is a cheap inferior DVD-R, not a factory pressed disc...how about reading the post through before you comment.

If you meant that to read a different way, sorry...my bad

This has been discussed before, but I would agree that selling inferior DVD-R copies versus factory pressed DVDs is an embarassing lack of professionalism. If the PDGA continues with this same company next year, I would hope this is rectified.
