Yes, I do plan on having a putting tournament again this year. It will be fun and I will have things to give-away for those who make it deep into the DLHO March Madness.
Oh yeah, thanks Wayne for being the first one to sign-up via titledisc.

Tom are you done with JDGF?
What do you mean done? The JDGF is alive and kicking, but the JDGF is not going to be a series as some has seen it. It is a Foundation that looks for donations to give away scholarships, and that is all. There will still be tournaments that make donations to the JDGF, but it will be a different capacity.
AND for the record, the JDGF will be awarding a $500.00 scholarship to 1 high school senior in Oklahoma and 1 just like it to a Texas student.
So all High School Seniors, if you LIVE and ATTEND high school in Oklahoma or Texas, send a Letter of Request that includes your GPA, College of Interest, how the money would help (how you would use it), 3 character references and all your contact information to: P.O. Box 2257, Duncan, OK 73533, for consideration. The deadline is April 30, 2007 for consideration. The scholarship recipients will be notified by May 18, 2007.

Hey everybody, I am looking forward to another great time at the lake. :cool:Jose` always makes sure it is ran as smooth and as fun as it can be. I will get out there sometime in the next few weeks to mow and trim. I don't want to do it too early and it grow back.
Tom, Jose` may have already asked you but if you don't mind we could use your portable baskets again. I appreciate you letting us use them the last few years on the temp course. :) The City of Duncan has ok'd the temp course to become permanent, so anytime we can come up with baskets we can plant them. I am thinking about planting my practice basket soon and Cody Mcdonnell said he would donate his. They are two different kinds but we will take what we can get.
Everybody come play the lake! lets see if we can fill both 18 hole courses. I think `Jose likes the challenge and after seeing what all he did at Tulsa Am Worlds I think he may just be Superman. :DIn other words, he can handle it and I will do what I can to make it easier on him. We always get help from alot of different people and I very much appreciate it!

Good news - I talked with Joe T. and he is going to bring his setup and entertain us the weekend of The HillClimber. He has also graciuosly extended an invitation for any and all musicians to sit in with him. This fits into the atmosphere of the DLHO so well and will just add to the normal fun and good times. Big Thanks to Joe T.

Not wanting to hijack another thread, so I am going to post on this thread that I would hope all of those would come to Duncan that can. I know there is another large event in BG the same weekend but I can promise it will not provide the entertainment and comradery that we will have in Duncan. I got in the discs for Duncan today from Innova and the stamp came out really nice again this year.
I hope everyone that gets down there on Friday night is planning onparticipating in the March Madness disc putting tourney - as I am going to implement a couple of changes to make it even more fun than last year.
Thanks to those who have preregistered and keep 'em coming.

I brush hogged both courses today. I will be mowing in my sleep tonight :D. Only holes 3,5 & 6 still need to be mowed. They have to be mowed with a weedeater.(no tractor access) Marty Dayhoff has been helping with his DR trimmer mower. He may knock out the rest of the holes before this weekend. The course always looks it best this time of year. Redbud trees are in full bloom adding all kinds of color to the hills. Still more work to do but it is taking shape nicely.

Johnny big props to you and Marty for working so hard on the courses. I do not know how much you do but I do know it is a ton of work. THANKS THANKS THANKS.
I will have long-sleeved shirts again this year for $13 each and the short sleeve shirts are $10 no inflation here. The entry fees and shirt prices have been the same for the last three years.
I have been fielding plenty of calls. It looks to be another great DLHO. The stamp came out very nicely on the discs looking forward to giving some plastic away.

The campfires will be in full force as usual. If you hunt firewood at the lake please go to the temp course and get all of the downed wood that you can haul. It would help to clear some of the dead logs and help clear some more of the course. This course will be permanent someday!
Also, the DLHO has a new twist on it theme. The new theme is "Oklahoma's Triple Threat" Earth - Wind - Fire. The first two are obvious with the course being the Earth and you know about the Wind if you have ever played the lake course especially last year on the second day. The Fire is from the campfires that roar on Friday and Saturday nights.

It is easiest to camp but there are several hotels in Duncan which is only 10 to 15 minutes from the lake course.
It is a blast and you will be happy you came. Camping really brings the atmosphere to life of what Duncan is all about. The golf is competitive and challenging and then everyone just hanging out and having a good time in the evenings with all the roaring campfires.

Not addressed to me, but I know enough to answer.
Just a thought:
The "Horse People" own horses... so they obviously have at least enough land for a few or more to run around. Most of the people I know that have cattle/livestock own at least as much or more land than the golf course sets on... so why take the trouble to put them in a trailer and drive your horse(s) to the lake?
Any ideas?

William is right on. Make sure you pay for the campsite at the office or with the park officer. They do check to make sure everyone has a camping sticker.
The wind is just something everyone has to deal with at Duncan and man it can blow.

I might be wrong on the tents. I haven't camped in a tent...yet. The first few years of the Hillclimber I camped out in a motor home but we sold that last year. The reason is because most of the land that the horse riders own is just plain old boring flat pasture land. The majority of the land in Stephens County is just flat, not very scenic pasture land. Duncan Lake just happens to have alot of scenery with elevation and riders have been coming to the lake for years and have cut trails all through the lakes property to explore. Alot of them also like camping out so the campground also draws alot of riders just like it does disc golfers.

Since the lake cafe is closed there really isn't a place at the lake to purchase a permit so the best thing to do is just watch out for the lake patrol officer. When he comes around
( which he will do alot during the weekend ) just wave him down and he will sale you one from his vehicle. They do check every now and then.

Johnny Zumwalt is the foundation that the DLHO is built on and without his efforts this event would never take place. Big Thanks Johnny.
The TDSA has been very generous with merchandise and a cash donation - Thank You very much TDSA.
FurDog - ChandlerStock - thanks for the merchandise
Twisted Flyer - is pulling out some big 'ol boxes of stuff to put in the player's hands.
Tom Lowry - thanks for the use of your 18 baskets for the temp course. This has always made it easier to setup and make it possible.
I know there are other very generous entities out there that will bring some stuff with them to the tourney. So, for all of you thanks in advance for your generosity.

Let me take a minute to thank some key people:
My son Tanner and Marty Dayhoff helped out alot with the weed eating and trash pick-up. Thank you guys!!!!!
Also thank you again Tom Lowry for the use of your baskets!!!!!
And most of all, thank you Jose` (and your wife for letting you do it) for all of what you go through to come all of the way down here to run this tournament every year!!!!! And it is always ran on time and soooo smoothly. You da' man Jose`!

Rotan just called asked me if I could look up quick kits on how to build an ark. :DI guess there is water every where, creeks full and then some and..........they have another large storm headed their way in about an hour. :o
I wonder how many people can sleep in that shelter. :D

Wow - this was a very eventful weekend.
Some of the best news is that we started a basket drive to make the temporary course permanent and within a couple of hours of starting that "basket drive" we had received $740 in cash donations and 3 baskets.
Joe Rotan donated basket #1
Jose` Mendoza donated basket #8
Jason Hise donated basket #13
Dwayne Sivils donated $240
Martin Dayhoff donated $500
This was very exciting and uplifting to see the support and excitement over getting the temp course installed.
Oh yeah, I know there are some more generous people out there or clubs or a group of players that would love to see their name on a hole at Duncan for the years to come. So, if that is you please pony up and let's get that course installed.
Johnny Z. already has permission from the city to use the land and install a course so all we need is the equipment and then some work.

Wayne is referring to the format change that we had to make on the fly Saturday morning. The temp course had standing water on hole 4 that cutoff the course and did not permit us to play the temp course all weekend. So, everyone played the Lake course 3 times and we ran three rounds a day on that course. Flight A played it at 10a and 4p on Saturday and then at noon on Sunday. Flight B played it at 1p on Saturday and then 9a and 3p on Sunday.

Flight A had three aces:
Micah McHugh and Dustin Allen both had thumber aces on hole 15 and Chris Hutchinson had an ace on hole 6.
Flight B has six aces:
Marq Lewis has two aces in the 3rd round.

Big thanks go out to Johnny Zumwalt for all of the work that he has done on the course this year and in the years past. He is also the one to take the time to get the city to approve the use of the land for the "soon not to be" temp course.
Barb Paske was wonderful all weekend helping out and checking scores.
Kim Click did a great job at just doing whatever she was asked to do and doing it well.
There are so many people that I could thank and will thank but these three really made it happen this weekend.

Great Job Jose! You never cease to amaze me. What a great weekend of golf and friendship. Shouts out to the staff and of course the infamous JohnnyZ. Thanks to those that bought or rocked the new Twisted Discs and gear I really appreciate your support! I can't wait for next year!!!

Thanks to everyone who came out to play in what it looked like would be terrible conditions ( nearly 6 inches of rain on friday! ) It never did dry out enough for players to have good footing but the weather did turn out beautiful all weekend for play. :) I feel bad that the alternate course wasn't able to be played but I guess there are just some things we can't control. :(
Big thanks go out to Jose` for his usual very quick thinking as he was able to get all 120 players at least 3 rounds of golf on one 18 hole course this weekend and he did it in usual Jose` style ( smooth and as on time as could be expected and tons of fun! )
Jose` has decided that next year he wants to take a break from running tournaments and I think he really deserves one for what all he has done in the last few years. It would be very easy to get burned out with what all he does and he should relax next year and enjoy himself. Jose` ran four excellent Hillclimbers and I am very glad that I asked him if he would like to run one back in 2003. :) And now I am glad to announce that the (Twisted 1) Joe Rotan has volunteered to run the 9th Annual Hillclimber Open! I think he will do a great job and keep the Hillclimber tradition going. I also want to thank him and everyone else that has donated a basket or money for baskets for the other lake course. :D:D:DThank you!!!!!!!!!

Where were ya' at Big Nic? I was ready to do a little more celebrating that Colts SB victory with ya'. :cool:I didn't figure the other Colts fan Kev would be here 'cause he had to go chase the bigger money at some A-tier. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
If you can make it down here next year bring you guitar and amp. I heard a sampling of you play on that disc golf okie style video. It looks like you can flat out jam!

The electronic report has been sent in and the $625 in PDGA fees have magincally been sent via the internet. Wow, I might just go out and enjoy the rest of this vacation day by playing a round of disc golf.

Great job, Jose....playing 3 rounds was the right decision for sure, it always helps to get the players on the road somewhat early anyway.
PROPS!
Joe Rotan is the man...way to step up!

That is cool and thank you. I really want to help out as much as possible to make sure your time as the DLHO T.D. is enjoyable. I know the tourney is in good hands and I am excited to see what the DLHO will be like once it gets TWISTED.
