Its best to be as smooth as you can be. You usually get jerky when you arn't confident in your form, or with the shot or when you try for too much power wise...

I don't think you will find people supporting a "jerky" form. They exist and work for some people but mainly because it is long practiced and consistent from repetition.

Smooth is very important. Additionally when we say smooth we mean from the start of the motion as well as through the power zone. I've told people smooth and they tried to pull as hard as they could right from the beginning of their motion, but you need to start your motion a little bit slower and increase the speed through your pull until you pop through the power-zone (across your chest/lower rib cage) with maximum speed.

I think my reach back used to be faster then my pull through. Its all good though. :D
