Not only is smoking weed illegal, and yes , it causes parks and rec to closely watch our play. Here is another argumentative point.
Players abcd start on hole 6, take 10 minutes to smoke after the round has started, the next group arrives, and then they tee off. Usually stating they were waiting for players to clear the hole ahead. Now you have already started a bottleneck. This happens 4 times say on hole 6, 9,14 18. Players 3 holes behind, whom cant play through, have caught up to the groups in front of them, that are caught up with abcd, now have a 40 minute wait. This too is annoying

and speaking of "help the sport grow", i've done more to grow this sport than any moderator has ever done, especially if you count the numbers of people the mods turn away from the sport with censorship and lies on the biggest disc golf org's message board.

your blind allegiance to a regime who stands for censorship and derilection of corporate responsibility is your downfall in your futile effort to clean up human behavior. it's too bad your efforts to correct what's wrong with the world can't be better applied to somewhere that matters like our US government who is deceiving the citizens with Enron-style accounting while giving handouts to the fat cats on Wall Street who pay themselves millions of dollars every year while they jack up the price of gas and food for all of us. But you go ahead MTL, you try and control this little corner of the world if it satisfies your lust for power.

i know you find this hard to believe but people really do prefer a FAIR place to air opinions without grovelling censors who only allow one side of the story to be told.

go ahead and ban me again. but Jesus will have the final word on you. and he doesn't suck up to anyone. read your bible man, Jesus says hypocrites are toast in the afterlife!

My comments.

1. I'm not a moderator anymore. It took up a lot of my time dealing with people like you - time that could be spent elsewhere. And I know what you will say about well moderators are not needed b/c people should express their opinions bla bla bla. Grow up.
2. You are free to express your opinions about the PDGA at anytime - and I'm glad I can say this next statement since I'm not a moderator anymore - you just don't know how to say them like an adult. What don't you understand about expressing your opinion without attacking someone? Or name calling? You want a place to express your opinions fairly sounds like an adult feeling and comment, yet, you resort to name calling like a child. That makes me laugh.

I have LOTS of problems with the PDGA and other organizations and stuff along that and when I want to express them, I do so without attacking anyone within the organization and I don't get an punishment.

Your last posts are in no way breaking the rules, in my opinion. You have lots of opinions and I have agreed with 90% of them, but man, your presentation is KILLING them. You are a smart guy. How do you not understand that??

Man I missed this gem. Tell your side of the story like an adult and maybe it would stay on here forever. Correct that. It WILL stay on here forever.

I'm done arguing with you b/c you have clearly showed over the years that you are unable or unwilling to act like an adult on this message board. You will more than likely cross the line soon as you have pretty much for your entire career on here and be gone for a year.

I have more important thing to do rather than sit around and wait for this to happen b/c it will happen sooner than later. Those things include continuing to try and clean up drugs and alcohol within our sport, promote our sport through financial donations and planning a B Tier I will be running where I will be donating all my profit back to the tournament.

let's see. 89% of the poll respondents admit they've seen pot smoking during a pDGA tournament. sounds like you had better get busy. you need to rat everyone out quickly. don't just stand there, get on the phone and call the cops!!! the future of the sport depends on you!

whatever you do, don't mention that the 2008 Worlds major sponsor is a drug pusher! Yep. beer is still a drug last time i checked and being a hypocrite and saying it's legal is an argument only a sheep would use. Seriously, how many people have died of a marijuana overdose? And how many have died of alcohol overdoses? and how many people have been killed by tobacco??? but you hypocrites want to stop pot smoking which is safer? Jesus is gonna get you!!!

you crack me up with your lectures man. like you know what an adult is. you think i care what the pDGA thinks of me? you are sadly mistaken. i treat this sport with all the serious that it is due, and that is almost nil. when the biggest disc golf org stands for censorship, hides its books, and threatens legal action against members who try to only show the truth, it's no wonder this sport is stuck spinning its wheels with only the pDGA staff and its rules committee (who sells discs) making any real money off the sport.

As far as condoning illegal activities in situations where they will be associated with organized disc sports, that is one opinion I can never agree with. Matthew 23
1Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples,

2Saying The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:

3All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.

4For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.

5But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments,

6And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues,

7And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.

8But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren.

9And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

10Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ.

11But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.

12And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.

13But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.

14Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.

15Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.

16Woe unto you, ye blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor!

17Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold?

18And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever sweareth by the gift that is upon it, he is guilty.

19Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift?

20Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon.

21And whoso shall swear by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein.

22And he that shall swear by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon.

23Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

24Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.

25Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.

26Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.

27Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.

28Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

29Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous,

30And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.

31Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets.

32Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.

33Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?

34Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city:

35That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.

36Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.

37O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!

38Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.

39For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

UPM... i have to say that I agree with a bit of what you type on here and am glad that there's someone pushing the envelope... fighting for free/open discussion on here and speaking his mind.

the jesus comment just struck me because I am not one of the 'sunday christians' ... i do like to think I have a personal relationship w/ Jesus and what i'm saying is he wouldn't 'roll' or be happy with someone who wished harm on another... he'd rather you do your part to help them come around so they wont be damned/etc. Maybe thats what you are doing in your own way... thats cool. The part about hoping for it to happen to them doesnt sit well with me and I doubt would sit well with Jesus. Thats my point. Yes there is scripture about Jesus and hypocrites... not arguing that.

All that being said I think you say things to get a rise out of people and thats good for 'HEV' on here for sure. There are other threads for discussion about Jesus and where his followers hearts should be at... lets end the thread drift and get back to what it was started about... beer and weed

Jesus, the drug user! no wonder Christianity is so durned popular. if Jesus could do drugs, why not the rest of us? i don't think weed was illegal back in Jesus's day anyway. i don't think it was criminalized in the USA until the 20th century if i recall.

Stack, I wish Jesus wasn't about vengeance on his enemies, but when i read the bible and hear what JC said i am forced to conclude otherwise. it is rather inconvenient what the Bible says, isn't it? Jesus says one thing and contradicts himself somewhere else...kinda hypocritical, no? i wonder if Jesus realizes by being a hypocrite he condemned himself to damnation!

Although there is no bonified infraction of the rules, lets us not forget how upset Muslims get when you use the name of God in vain. They get very offended. Well, even though Christians are the type that forgive and the like, they can still be offended too. So by stretching the limits of this PDGA area of the forum into a comedy club thats all about taking God's name in vain is offensive to me and more than likely to many other PDGA members.

I am not suggesting you can't or shouldn't discuss it, just not here where actual PDGA related topics belong....

While many people identify strongly with religion or politics and find jokes about such offensive, it would be most inappropriate for members of the moderating team (four moderators, Communications Director, Executive Director) to start going down that road.

To wit, there are many religion threads (Disc Golfers for Jesus, Bible DISCussion, Separation of church and disc golf, etc.) and politics threads (Immigration - Politics, Politics - War, the next president, etc.) on this message board.

The only times moderation has been necessary in these threads is when the discussion devolved into personal attacks e.g. insults and name-calling.

I am, and this is my trusty servant Patsy. We have ridden the length and breadth of the land in search of knights who will join me in my court at Camelot. I must speak with your lord and master.
soldier:
What? Ridden on a horse?
King Arthur: Yes!
soldier:
You're using coconuts!
King Arthur: What?
soldier:
You've got two empty halves of coconut and you're bangin' 'em together.
King Arthur:
So? We have ridden since the snows of winter covered this land, through the kingdom of Mercia, through...
soldier:
Where'd you get the coconuts?
King Arthur:
We found them.
soldier:
Found them? In Mercia? The coconut's tropical!
King Arthur:
What do you mean?
soldier:
Well, this is a temperate zone
King Arthur:
The swallow may fly south with the sun or the house martin or the plover may seek warmer climes in winter, yet these are not strangers to our land?
soldier:
Are you suggesting coconuts migrate?
King Arthur: Not at all. They could be carried.
soldier with a keen interest in birds: What? A swallow carrying a coconut?
King Arthur:
It could grip it by the husk!
soldier:
It's not a question of where he grips it! It's a simple question of weight ratios! A five ounce bird could not carry a one pound coconut.
King Arthur:
Well, it doesn't matter. Will you go and tell your master that Arthur from the Court of Camelot is here?
soldier:
Listen. In order to maintain air-speed velocity, a swallow needs to beat its wings forty-three times every second, right?
King Arthur:
Please!
soldier:
Am I right?

Lyle I agree,

The point I am trying to make here is that the threads reserved for PDGA topics should be for just that. Like I said and I admit, we are all guilty of thread drift. IMO turning a serious PDGA topic into a sarcastic joke session about what Jesus would or would not do doesn't do any good. But it is fun to read the posts and have a laugh or two. But it is obvious some are playing to annoy based on what has been written. My opinion of course, but we are all entitled to that, aren't we?

I think you are probably right though. Jesus is a great guy and He is more than likely pleased that we have mentioned His name here so many times. If anyone can take it, He can.

Jesus and Moses are playing disc golf and they're on the tenth hole. Moses fires his Archangel and it heads straight for a pond. Just before the disc hits the water, the pond parts and the disc rolls up just under the basket. Parked.

Jesus winds up and hucks his Force about to the same spot. Jesus's disc hits the water and skips across. Also parked.

All of a sudden, lightning flashes and a Destroyer drops from the sky directly into the pond. A huge fish swallows it, and a bird picks up the fish and drops it into the pouch of a kangaroo, which proceeds to hop over to the basket and jump right in.

Moses turns to Jesus and says, ''I hate it when your dad plays!''

Don't feed me sorrow
Pain is a poison I digest

Find yourself another soul to hold

Off upon my journey I must go
To where the river flows

I'll give you answers
To the questions you have yet to ask
Silence is beauty
Words they only complicate the task

Make no more wishes
All of my patience has been spent

Lead me to my next incident

Fraying bits of twine
Entangled in the remnants of the
Knot I left behind
And asking you to help me make it
Finally unwind
But God never listens to what I say
God never listens to what I say
And you don't get a refund
If you overpray

And when the line is breaking
And when I'm near the end
When all the time spent leading
I've been following instead
When all my thoughts and memories are
Left hanging by a thread

God never listens...
Stranded on this slender string
The minutes seem to last a lifetime
Dangling here between the light above
And blue below that drags me down

But God never listens to what I say
God never listens to what I say
And you don't get a refund

"Dear God"

, hope you got the letter, and...
I pray you can make it better down here.
I don't mean a big reduction in the price of beer
but all the people that you made in your image, see
them starving on their feet 'cause they don't get
enough to eat from God, I can't believe in you

Dear God, sorry to disturb you, but... I feel that I should be heard
loud and clear. We all need a big reduction in amount of tears
and all the people that you made in your image, see them fighting
in the street 'cause they can't make opinions meet about God,
I can't believe in you

Did you make disease, and the diamond blue? Did you make
mankind after we made you? And the devil too!

, don't know if you noticed, but... your name is on
a lot of quotes in this book, and us crazy humans wrote it, you
should take a look, and all the people that you made in your
image still believing that junk is true. Well I know it ain't, and
so do you, dear God, I can't believe in I don't believe in

I won't believe in heaven and hell. No saints, no sinners, no
devil as well. No pearly gates, no thorny crown. You're always
letting us humans down. The wars you bring, the babes you
drown. Those lost at sea and never found, and it's the same the
whole world 'round. The hurt I see helps to compound that
Father, Son and Holy Ghost is just somebody's unholy hoax,
and if you're up there you'd perceive that my heart's here upon
my sleeve. If there's one thing I don't believe in

it's you....

Jesus was way cool
Everybody liked Jesus
Everybody wanted to hang out with him
Anything he wanted to do, he did
He turned water into wine
And if he wanted to
He could have turned wheat into marijuana
Or sugar into cocaine
Or vitamin pills into amphetamines

He walked on the water
And swam on the land
He would tell these stories
And people would listen
He was really cool

If you were blind or lame
You just went to Jesus
And he would put his hands on you
And you would be healed
That's so cool

He could've played guitar better than Hendrix
He could've told the future
He could've baked the most delicious cake in the world
He could've scored more goals than Wayne Gretzky
He could've danced better than Barishnikov
Jesus could have been funnier than any comedian you can think of
Jesus was way cool

He told people to eat his body and drink his blood
That's so cool
Jesus was so cool
But then some people got jealous of how cool he was
So they killed him
But then he rose from the dead
He rose from the dead, danced around
Then went up to heaven
I mean, that's so cool
Jesus was way cool

No wonder there are so many Christians

2000 years ago a guy went around telling people they should be nice to each other and so they nailed him to a tree.

how good bad reasons and bad music sound when we march against an enemy [Nietzsche]

if they nailed all of us to a tree, at least their wouldn't be anyone left to fight their dirty little wars...

but your flag decal won't get you
into heaven anymore
they're already overcrowded
from your dirty little wars
you know Jesus don't like killing
no matter what the reasons for
and your flag decal won't get you

doesn't it bug anyone that Jesus is too often used ignorantly as an alleged get-out-of-Hell-free-card and not as an inspirational teacher?

He did command Peter to care for, feed and lead his sheep. He also called Peter the rock, the cornerstone on which Jesus was to build His church. You don't need a cornerstone if you don't intend to have something built.

Matthew 16:16-18

Peter (Petros) means a "small rock." Petra, as in the word Jesus used when He said "upon this rock," means "large, massive stone." The explanation you gave originates from Catholic influences which are to establish Peter as the first pope in Rome. Scripturally, that idea is very easily disproven. He never called Peter "the rock" (as in "petra") but rather "petros." Two distinctively different words with two different meanings. In fact, Petros is masculine and Petra is feminine. They are two different words.

He also never called Peter "the cornerstone" in any way. He was talking about who He is, the Messiah, or chosen one. Upon Peters confession of this truth, Jesus responded by saying that it is upon that very truth that His Church, or body of believers would be founded.

1st Cor. 3:11 - Jesus IS the foundation
Eph. 2:20 - Jesus IS the chief cornerstone

These aren't my opinions, they are simply biblical facts. Take'm or leave 'em, it's your choice. I don't share this to discredit you, "pick a fight" or anything like that. I totally agree with your general point though, that even though the exact words "start a church in my name" were never recorded, the idea WAS comanded and the examples abound in the bible that those who believe are to "build up the body of believers." The "church" is not a building, it is the body of believers. This simple truth alone could avoid many misconceptions, which are in no short supply. Thanks for letting me share this, I hope it isn't taken in a spirit of judgment...

You are most definitely correct, and I mistyped what I was trying to say. My reply was mainly to the poster that expressed that idea that Jesus did not indicate he wanted a church built. And I do understand that the church to be built was not of stone, but of souls. He did ask Peter to "tend his sheep", so in a very simple way, Peter was the first shepherd designate. Rock on.

A picture of ghouls eating jesus with his intestines pulled out is offensive to me.... If I still had younger children I would not want them to see it... You surprise me sandalman.... Are you trying to offend or are you just not all together up stairs when it comes to family values, right wrong etc....? To me, #3 does apply in this case.... Those images were offensive...

Some people live in strange places by my measure. I'm a darn good atheist but a picture of any thing pulling or eating anyone's intestines in any situation is repulsive to me. I wonder where our culture is heading.

BTW Senior, have you seen Dark Knight? Not that I like recommending anything as awful as this movie, but this is one you should see. The fact that it is so popular is a true comment on what we have become.

Since I know this is going to get a lot of criticism, let me say that the movie is an excellent portrayal of psychotic violence and manipulation. It's depiction of this issue is excellent and telling. Nonetheless, the move is disturbing and the number of under 11 kids I saw in the theater was frightening. This movie should have been rated R, but was not.

The level of tolerance toward violence in our society is just appalling.

My son and I went to see it and it was by far the most epic Batman movie I have ever seen. I thought the movie was over and would have been satisfied at about the half way point.... It just got even better....

I remember when my kid was ten or eleven my wife and I took him to see a blasted Disney Movie, that was a PG rated flick...

Well we are sitting there with hundreds of other parents and young kids and the previews come on. One after another had some kind of sexually explicit content. One was a movie about a kid who rebels against her Mom and they are showing them arguing and yelling at each other and the mom with her boy friend etc etc.. Well I got up and went to manager and complain that the content of the previews was way out of line for the movie we were seeing and that they were inapropriate. He told me to get used to it.... And that they have those types of complaints from other parents, but there was nothing that they could, or would, be doing about it....

The average child in America will spend 900 hours in school per year, but over 1,000 hours in front of a T.V.

The average child in America will see over 200,000 violent images (and growing) by the time they reach 18 years old.

The avg. child in America will see over 40,000 ads per year and the top 15 teen oriented programs in'03 included alcohol ads.

Options: V-chip, tv guidelines (i.e. tv-y, tv-y7, tv-g, tv-pg etc...), no tv in bedrooms, no tv during diner, being an example, or simply sell your tv!

We have a T.V. but my kids have only seen one piece of network programming on it, the Olympics. I turn it off during ads. NO CABLE thank you! They have T.V.s in the elevators where I work...

Dark Knight "is" epic, it is also disturbing. Sex and swearing is against the rule, but violence is not. And we wonder why our kids increasingly shoot other kids...

Good for you, and your kids Lyle, that's great. That free's up alot of time for you to share the bible with your children, awesome! lol ;) I grew up watching my dad press 'mute' during the commercials and it always bugged me, but now I find myself doing the same thing unless the dvr is in play, then I can just flip forward.

My son fast fowards through "bad parts" of certain movies on his own. Some times I have the remote and I will do it too, but if he has it I don't even have to tell him, he will do it for me.....

We also do not have cable or other fancy smanchy system. Nothing but DVD's VHS and good ole boring network television. The antenna only gets us 6 or 7 channels if we are lucky....

6 or 7 channels for the next few months... then you'll need an antenna capable of receiving digital, and a box to decode it. February 2009 it might just end up being DVD and VHS for you if you're not careful :)

I'm shakin in my boots......

Seriously, we will get the blasted box... What a scam though. Just another way to bilk thousands of dollars from the people....

not a scam, just a way to reclaim the massive subsection of public airwaves reserved for TV now there there is a much better alternative technology. Expect to see many new, awesome wireless technologies arise once that reclamation is complete. Plus your new signal will be of better quality, so everyone wins :)
