Has anyone bought the new Innova Champion Bag? If so what is your opinion? I will be in the market for a new bag soon and while I'm leaning toward the Revo Carolina bag I'm interested in any feedback on the Innova Champion bag.

I actually got one in the mail yesterday. It's not for me but I assembled it. The only negative think I can say from appearance is the water bottle holders don't appear to be able to hold Nalgene bottles. They are made only for holding the smaller size bottles. I think the holders are neoprene and they stretch but I doubt they can stretch that far. Maybe after a lot of use. Otherwise the bag looks/feels pretty nice. Lots of other pockets to put stuff in.

Here is a little trick for getting your Nalgene bottle into the Champion bag when it is new. It will fit better if you leave it in there overnight before a round. The neoprene stretches, but when new, has a lot of elasticity.

Once you try it once, it's simple. The bottlesockets allow your Champion bag to hold bottles snugly, and basically eliminate slip outs if you drop or tip your bag.

Yes, you can stack 2 - 12 oz cans in one holder.

Interesting. I thought there was no way a nalgene would fit in there. Thanks for the 'loading tip' I now officially consider myself an idiot.

no problem, I went and tried myself and if you don't know to slide it under then flip, it's a lot harder to get in there, requiring 2 hands. With the method I showed, it's definitely a whole lot easier.

Matt can you show some more angle shots of that bag... all I can find on zonedriven and DGV, is the one front shot...

more angles is better.

thanks,

Thank's for all the info everyone and the pics Matt. I have a question about the material, is it made of the 1000 thread count cordura like the Revo? This will definitely help me make my decision.

Thanks Matt,

those are great. I hope one of the dealers up here can get one so that I can try it out...

I have a tour bag right now, is there any way to buy the internal frame seperate (will it fit in the tour bag?)

My problem is those **** black sleeves. some sleeves are too narrow to fit a putter in, and then some are thick... it's like they get narrower in the middle (middle of each 6 slot organizer) but if you take out the sleeves all together then your discs just slosh around in the bottom...

Ohh well, thanks again.

I am not a fan of the NEW Champion bag compared to the tour bag. The reasons are as follows:
1) The side pockets are hard to get water in while you are walking. You need to set the bag down and use two hands to get the water out. (many times you grab a drink while you are walking. With the tour bag you can easily take water in and out of with one hand.
2) The Champion bag seems to be made of lighter weight material than the Tour.
3) When using the bottle holders it takes away room from the inside pockets. (it pushes into the side pockets making it a tight squeeze) The tour bag does not take away any room from the side pockets.
4) The bag divider hits you in the middle of the back. The middle dividers have sharp edges that may cut your hand while grabbing discs. They appear to be extruded PVC which will crack from cold weather or shock. The divider is better than the tour bag but [email protected] makes the best dividers around and they won't break.
5) The zippers on the side pockets of the tour bag are much heavier constructed zippers.
6) There are no extra ring holders on the Champion bag unlike the tour bag has many extra ring holders. (These are used for can openers, scorecard holders, etc....) Only 2 points for quad shocks.
7) The bottle holders made of neoprene will not withstand to stickers bushes and will probably tear easily. The tour bag has thick material than won't tear.
8) The bottom wear knobs are only 4 riveted little knobs. The tour bag had 2 long hard plastic strips sewn of nicely.

The advantages are that the Champion bag has more pockets and will hold more discs.

If the object was to make a better bag this is a failure. The tour bag is quite a bit cheaper and is constructed MUCH better.

I got my IC Bag this morning. Looks ok. Only one problem ... the frame/divider package only had one divider in it! Dang!
I'm sure Mark at DGvalues will take care of it ... but guess I'll have to wait a few more days to check it out on the course. :p

The center dividers are kind of rough, compared to the rest of the package. These really should be a little more finished ... makes the frame look rough compared to the rest of the product. I'm sure I can take care of it with a little sanding, but who want's to have to modify a new product as soon as they get it? /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

If anyone is interested in a new divider for any bag type, email Paul K at [email protected] and he can send you all the pictures and info that you would want until his site gets up and running. I promise this is the only divider on the market that is built this solid and it has unparalleled craftsmanship.

host the image on another cite (imageshack.net, flikr. . .) and then below your txt box theres "instant UBB Codes" click image and paste the direct link to the image hosted elsewhere into the box that pops up. tada!

What is the purpose of the buckles on the outside putter pocket?

I got one of these and they have a few flaws. I call bs on the pictures showing someone easily inserting a nalgene bottle. I tried a 24 oz Aquafina bottle, wrestled with it for a while, and gave up. I figure that is why they have the reinforced "kick plate" outside of the putter pocket.

The rack is another thing. The directions say "gently insert the rods". I tried that, and then a rubber mallet. I still couldn't get them all the way in. If they are not fully inserted, the rack pokes into the end pockets.

The bag itself is very nice, but never use neoprene bottle holders. They could be useful if this was a bag for moto cross. But they are horrible if you need easy and quick access to your water supply.

The tour bag is still way better.

Are they heavier than the tour bag , in overall weight ?

One gripe that I saw immediately on the Revo was the extra deep pencil pocket. If you drop a shorty golf pencil in there, your not getting it back so,........I made a slight modification. Take a razor blade and cut the pocket about halfway down horizontal. Then take a soldering iron and melt the two ragged seams so it doesn't come unraveled. Presto, awesome fitting pencil pocket.

I just stuck a tiny block of wood into my pencil pocket. Just the right size that i had to jam it down, but once it's in it's not coming out. Takes up about a third of the pocket and allows pencils to be easily accessed.

Ever think about using a longer pencil? I use a mechanical pencil...just easier, and it fits.

That's funny, I posted here and then I read your post in the Whats in Your Bag thread, and thought "hey, I never thought about carrying a mechanical pencil."
