Here's a question for the very old timers...
I have found 2 white discs with no stamp/writing at all. They are from the mid 80's and very similar to the super puppy or the DGA Driver or DGA Gumputt. I believe it was Jim Akins who thought they were Ben - Wal but that was well over a decade ago. But I thought those had 'Ben - Wal' molded on the bottom.
Anyone know for sure?
Thanks

If they're new then they're pretty worthless. I'll be more than happy to take them off your hands. For recycling purposes of course.
I'll let the more informed answer this question but if I remember correct they are a version of the Super Puppy mold which a few manufacturers used including the DGA, Destiny and Dynamic.

I also thought the Ben-Wal was actually raised lettered on bottom. There was a "Generic Puppy". I think the stamp on top said "generic golf disc". Pretty sure those were a poor brittle plastic. Should be a great collectable though.

This is nice soft pliable plastic. Will try to get pictures up in next couple of days. Ice Bowl today, it's # 19 at this course. One is used and one is new, just box rash and the used one still has flashing around outer edge. Probably experimented with it for a putting session or two at most. Both in very good condition. I was a Super Puppy putter until the DGA Driver came out ca. 1985. I liked the DGA rings for better grip and still like the predictable flat flight. Have some new ones of those too, and some with my PDGA # and mark but never thrown.
I working on a list of all my discs (list is about 350 currently) with over 100 to go in preparation for a complete sale. Will post details and a total list soon. Both Golf discs, Fastbacks even one 'pebble' and various misc. things. First Run this and that, original wings and rings [and a couple of 'football' stamped] Rocs (21.2 cm), Proto Hammers, Proto cobra & stingray, Patent Pending Aero's and Aviars, original Aviar - XD ....
Even though I'm selling the collection I rejoined PDGA for 5 years before the rate went up even though I no longer can compete. Joined as a 'Pro' member in 1984 and current until 2012 at least. Member every year.

The Ben-Wal disc that I have has no lettering underneath, but has a Ben-Wal hotstamp on top. I compared it to DGA Kitty Hawks, a "Generic Golf Disc," an original Puppy and an AMF Voit 21-cm disc - none of them have lettering underneath. There are subtle differences in the shoulder area of these discs and in the rigidity of the plastic. Without having the disc in your hands, it's hard to tell the difference between the blanks. :D

Were you in Southern California in about 1986? I was about to 'Ask Dave' since he was in the area but I found THIS (http://www.geocities.com/foshildgc/BeachBowl.JPG) lid. There is something under the disc and I wonder if it is a mini or maybe a program/entry?

One of the best stories in disc golf involves, Ben and Walt, Ed and Jan Sobbell. There was an abduction of the mold and it fell out of Ed's bread truck converted DGA Mobile.
Destiny and Dynamic are /were the same company. They also came out with the infamous Dimpled Driver.
Risley's 83 Shuttle Putter is a good example of the best disc that came out of the whole convoluted escapade.
Jan Sobbell can give you the real story. There may not be any more puppies made.

I wasnt there ;)
But the lid must be a Floater? I have no idea whats under this, my guess is as good as yours, probably a liflet or program of some sort?

I have a couple of Ben-Wals and as Rizbee wrote, they have no writing on the bottom. The 1st period of the Kitty Hawks (Similar stamp, made by BenWal?) seems to be more or less the same disc as the Ben-Wal. KH 2nd period, Puppy, Super Puppy and the other discs Rizbee mentioned are different. Mmmh, just noticed that the "Unbreakable Generic" and the Puppy looks very similar.

I have a Kitty Hawk Hard Hooker on ebay right now and found out today the Ben-Wal's previous to them had their mold broken by accident by Steady himself. Fell off the back of the truck :(

They look very similar to the Ben-Wal/KittyHawk disc. I think the shoulder is more sloped than a Puppy. How would you describe the plastic - stiff, rubbery, etc?
Fossil

Does seem more Kitty Hawk shoulder-like, but softer more pliable plastic than my KH. Softer than super puppy.

The white Kitty Hawk plastic was more pliable than the orange plastic. When it's hot out I would almost call it gooey.

Depends when each run was done and by whom.
The Bubble Gum Pink Chain Chompers by DGA were super soft.
Check the Shoulder, Rim and Cheek of each.
The Puppy and the Super Puppy were totally different.
So was AMF Voits Puppy , DGA's Puppy and Dream Flights Puppy. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

My Ben Wal's are blank bottom as well. I just looked at my Puppy with the #1 Cash Crop stamp, and it has raised letter Ben Wal Plastics ............ on bottom.
Kjell,
Remind us again about the Wally please.

Far too Puppy-like to be a Wally.

I have checked a bit and the discs could be either the 2nd Period Kitty Hawk Putter or 2nd period Driver-Sureshot. Those two (And the KH Fader) have no writing on the bottom like the KH Hooker. The shoulder area look similar. The "waist", where the top and bottom are molded together seems to be a bit high compared to "reality" but it is hard to say from just looking on the picture.
Fossil, when are you ready with your list? Are you going to sell these two?
Fossil

I took a break from working on the list, but may catalog some more today.
And Yes, those two are definitely going to be sold.
And is the one of these on the left the Kitty Hawk Putter? I always called these Driver and Soft Touch. http://www.geocities.com/foshildgc/kittyhawk.JPG
Plus I'll send you a PM.
Does anyone have suggestions about photographing discs indoors? There are so many curved surfaces I get reflection from light source. I've tried indirect light but still not satisfied.
Tried with flash and without flash.

Yes, those are 1st generations DGA Kitty Hawk Driver and Softtouch (Came out efter the Benwals with similar stamp).
The 2nd generation came out the year after, check out them here:

Careful looking at Steve Hartwell's disc collector webpage...that's what got me addicted to collecting Midnight Flyers!!!
I actually bought some of his discs when he sold off a lot of his collection a couple of years ago. :D

Those look very similar to the White '83 Huntsville Worlds Shuttle Puppies that I have with the exception of the top being a little domey. They don't look like the Ben-Wall Kitty Hawks I have, but possibly the DGA Hooker, Putter, etc... series.

After a few more looks (and sitting at the computer holding and inspecting a Shuttle Puppy) I would agree that these look more like DGA Hookers than Ben-Wals or Shuttle-Puppies.
