Last Weekend at a P.D.G.A. Event.A player on my card ,Thrown an upshot .Landed inside the circle. Before he had thrown his shot. All other players had thrown thiers. The player walked up marked the wrong Disc then putted out.The group ,then told him to leave the mark .Allowing the players Disc that he putted from,to putt out. After everybody holed out.The group besides the Player who made the mistake,Gave him a 2 stroke penalty...Was this the right decision?

Yes, when a player throws from the incorrect lie, the hole is played out as if he had played from the correct lie and then is given a two stroke penalty.

I did this same thing at MAple Hill one last year...I was so angry that i dinked a short Putt, I just walked up to a one of the white putter and put it in...As it hit the bottom of the basket, I saw that it wasnt mine....Funny thing is, I lost the event by 1 Stroke.

This is an inconsistency that should be fixed in the next rules update. It only counts as a practice throw if you make a throw from almost any position on the course that's not your lie, even from the wrong tee. However, stand behind someone else's disc and it's a 2-shot penalty.

I don't think it's inconsistent since typically you pick up the disc before/if you realize it isn't yours, thus incurring a one-stroke interference penalty that is accounted for in the 2-stroke penalty.
Plus the inconvenience that the group now typically has to establish an approximate lie, plus the time sometimes wasted searching for the "not lost" disc that is in your bag, plus the fact that it is completely avoidable bonehead move....all that makes having to use the shot exceptionally reasonable.

Perhaps we should be required to mark our discs on both sides.

Perhaps we should be required to take an extra second and make sure its our disc.
I like the 2 stroke penalty. Maybe if someone gets enough 2 stroke penalties, they'll start checking more carefully.

While I do agree with the 2 stroke penalty for playing from another's lie I do not think it is a penalty to pick up someone elses disc to check for identification, am I wrong?

You are allowed to move it to identify it, but in the playing from the wrong lie scenario, you typically pick it up and put it in your bag. :)

I usually write my name on top and my phone number on the bottom.

I wouldn't have a problem with a 1 stroke penalty for the throw and a separate penalty for moving the disc.
That way you only get the 2 stroke penalty if you move the disc.

It was a clear disc, so you could see what was stamped and written on top and bottom. :D

I know people who will mark it in a manner that even after looking on both sides, it is difficult to tell who it belongs to. The best solution is to always verify the disc it yours first. I am willing to bet in the example given, the player never even attempted to verify the disc was theirs.
