i'm doing both why can't you? :D
redan hosts several events during the year...redan is a nice course with multiple pin positions (60) which they use each one of in the fall event and spring event
central has 27 holes with rolling hills, multiple pin and tee for each hole so the course can be adjusted for flow and challenge(which is why i like td'ing there :D)
east roswell is newer and all in the woods thru a park that has other uses but none that come into the disc golf area
see if you can get an airtran cheap fare...it's on sale now for like 170 round trip out of richmond :D

Biscoe,
The courses couldn't be any more different from each other.
East Roswell is entirely in the woods, long and tight.
Central is wide open and very very long.
I lived in Atlanta before CVille and have enjoyed both courses many times.

don't know the last time you played them jesse, but east roswell is not all long...there are 5 holes less than 300 ft(2,5,12,13,14) and a couple more under 350 ft even from the long tees...
and central has several holes IN the woods (out of 27 holes) with a few others that have woods all down one side or a creek running through the fairway....
like i said it makes a difference what pin positions and tee pads you use at central :D
either way john has no excuse to not make it here
:D :D

Check out the art work and all the information here. I know you Carolina dogs are all over this site, so come down to Atl in June for a solid A tier event. Pros and Ams on different courses, trophies for top three players in eac division, sick players packs for Am divsions, two great courses offering a challenging wooded course (harder than Buckhorn, but dont let that scare you) and a beautiful open course with rolling hills and grassy fairways. Check the link abve for all the details.

Hey guys, I'm seriously considering making it down for this tournament. I traveled down to Hotlanta last year and enjoyed playing with the GA folks and would love to get down there again from NC. I was just curious if any of you locals would have a place I could crash maybe. Would definately make it easier for me to go to this tournament.

Bring it in Pros. We will have around $5,000 added cash to the tournament. Lots of money to be taken, so sign up and get a piece of it for yourself. Online registration is available.
Three years ago the Atlanta Open started out as one of the top C tier events in the country. At the time it was Pro only and the winner took home $620 for beating 34 pros. Not bad for a $60 entry fee.
Last year the tournament moved right up the ranks to a B tier. This time the same winner (Tim Ellis) repeated to take home $1,000 for beating 32 Pros.
This year the Atlanta Open sees its 3rd year of existence and has climbed right up the ladder to "Super Tour" status. With far more added cash and two very different (from one another) courses, the Atlanta Open is going to be a tournament that you don't want to miss. Low entry fee for Pros at $80, not bad for an A tier. Keep in mind that the Rocket City Super Tournament is the weekend right before and Huntsville is roughly four hours from Atlanta, so plan a road trip southbound if you haven't already planned to head up to Minnesota.
For all of the tournament information go to: www.discgolfatlanta.com (http://www.discgolfatlanta.com)
See you in Augusta,
Rand 7584
As always, the AM side of the event is filling fast. Good job AMs!!! If you play Pro and hope to play in the Atlanta Open I would send in my entry fee yesterday. I am going to reserve so many spots for Pros for the next two weeks. If we do not start filing Pro spots these spots will be open to AM players, so don't bother calling me or emailing me with complaints just send in your money pronto.
Thats right PROS...You have two weeks to get your entry fee($80 cant beat that for an A tier) in or else you likely will not play in this years Atlanta Open. Every year it is the same story AMs want to play and Pros want to lag. I can assure you that there will be people turned away in the parking lot on game day, so dont let that be you. It is simple, preregister and play and if you dont you will NOT play.

We have around 20 spots left, so you better take advantage of online registration while you can. Only Pro divisions are available at the moment, so take advantage of your last opportunity to get in. Pros have three days to pre-reg and then the remaining spots will be made available to any PDGA member for the offered divisions Pro or Am. There are currently seven players on the waiting list.
Once we fill that is it no last minute add ons. This Sat the 19th at 12am registration will open to those on the waiting list. If you are considering playing in this event you need to register immediately.

What holes will be played at Central?
Also, is there any local action at these courses this Sunday? I would post this on the local boards but I can't get on there. :(
Thanks.
This Sunday at Central is 18 mixed tees (random draw doubles)...They will play half red tees and half blue of the regular 18 hole layout that will be used in the Atlanta Open. At least you could see the 18 holes you would play and you could check where the red and blue tees are for each hole. This starts at 4pm .
Central Park Tournament Layout:
Hole # Red Blue Position
1 270 341 N/A
2 323 403 Long
3 248 328 N/A
4 273 360 Left
5 406 507 Long
6 457 494 Long
7 357 460 Short
8 320 433 Right
9 353 438 Long
10 306R 412R Right
11 278 384 Short L
12 283 383 N/A
13 381 472 Long
14 200 235 Short
15 394 449 Long
16 255 481 N/A
17 327 411 Short R
18 320L 384L Left
The AM side of the event is full at 72, so please don't try to register as an AM. Options are play Pro or play the "Trophy Only" option (please see the 2007 PDGA Competition Manual before choosing the trophy only option). Either of which you decide you need to make it quick as only 10 spots remain.
Four spots remain in the entire tournament. IF you play in a Pro division now is your last chance to get into the tournament.

I'll be arriving in Charlotte Friday.
After a 2 hour wait I will then be on the way to Minnesota. :D D@mn connections.
Robert...
Take I-85 south to Jimmy Carter Blvd exit to the right.
Jimmy Carter Blvd turns into Holcomb Bridge Rd where East Roswell Park is located on the left hand side of the Rd. ERP is about 7 miles from the I-85 exit.
Turn left out of ERP onto Holcomb Bridge Rd take it about two miles to GA 400, head North to Exit 17 Gainesville, turn left at the end of the ramp and Central Park will be a half mile on your left.
The tournament hotel Hampton Inn is located off of GA 400 on Windward Parkway. this exit is right between the two course..cant miss it.
See you this Friday.

Is there going to be a final 9 or anything like that? Also where will the awards be?

May 31 2007, 09:50 PM
For those of you that play the course a lot, considering that the first round will start on sunday at 9am, around what time do you think the second sunday round will be finishing up. I'm trying to get an idea of when i could get out of there if I left immediately after checking my card after the last round.

Rand, go into the tournament upload, click on the Ratings link and assign the course layouts to divisions round-by-round and update. Just entering the course layouts isn't enough.

Thanks to Rand and everyone involved - the payout was great, the courses had tons of work to get them ready and the side things (like water everywhere and the energy drinks, the food, etc) just made this a first class event!
We got back into town around 1:30 - that drive felt a lot longer coming back than it did going - lol

Nice 6th place finish Robert!!! Best in a supertour thus far?
I remember getting a 4th in Waco's A-tier behind Ron Russell, Cam Todd, and Kevin McCoy....a 5th Tx States A-tier behind Eric Tracey, Grider, Ron Russell and Orum....and another 5th at Z-Boaz behind the likes of Barry, Justin, Kevin and Nolan.
Except for Z-Boaz, the other 2 were before kids. :D

Quite a few firsts / personal bests this weekend
Highest finish in an A Tier
First time in lead card of final round of an A Tier
Highest average rating for the weekend (1017)
First time all 4 rounds over 1000
Most cash won in a weekend
First cash in Georgia breaking the 0-2 start :D
all the stuff above is great and all, but I had fun, and really kept my head cool after a few bad breaks the first round and a nasty nasty roll away followed by a cut through on the comebacker sunday morning. Those two things are what I am most proud of.
