Fellow Disc Golfers,
I have found some land in Hillsborough County that would be great
to build an 18 hole disc golf course on. The catch is that it's at a
church. Unfortunately the churches pockets aren't as deep as the
city's so more than likely if this was going to happen we would need
help both financially and physically from everyone we can.
Installing a course on this property is a good way to benefit us and
the church. We would get an 18 hole course and the church would have
another activity for kids that attend the Boys and Girls Club and
summer camp to be involved in.
I've been working with JohnE and Jen McCray to work out different
ways on how we can make this happen. The Church is open to the idea
and is somewhat familiar with the sport. I think if a problem is going
to come up it's going to be a financial problem. Jen was able to find
baskets for $275.00 a piece. And tee signs are $45.00 a piece. That
means baskets alone would be $5000.00+ for the course. Maybe a little
too rich for their blood.
In my year of playing disc golf so far if there's one thing I've
noticed about disc golfers, it's that they love to spread the word of
the sport and always look forward to getting and playing new courses.
That's why I'm turning to all of you for help. Here are the different
ways you can help:
To start things off the McCrays have offered to do the course design
for FREE!!! This usually costs big bucks for people to do and is very
time consuming. That's a great start!
1. You can sponsor a hole for $275.00. As a sponsor of a hole you will
get your name on the tee sign as recognition. You could even go in
with several friends or get your business to sponsor it. So far Josh
Lambrecht and myself are sponsoring holes.....so that leaves 16 left!
2. You can donate a tee sign for $45.00
3. You can donate whatever you can afford to give to me, JohnE or Jen
McCray. Anything will be appreciated and if everyone gives a little it
will all add up.
If we could some how build this course entirely with contributions
from disc golfers I don't see any reason why this shouldn't work out.
Please feel free to call or email me with any questions.
