I am very pleased to announce the 11th Annual Plastic Pilots El Dorado Open Disc Golf Tournament, the second-longest running SoCal event next to Wintertime, will be observed 10-11 March 2007.

Thanks to the efforts of Dan Duron, Tim Selinske, and Innova-Champion, the City of Long Beach will allow us to use another area of the Regional Park for a temporary course....most likely the section where Archery was contested, during the 1984 Olympics. Although there were weather concerns last year, and [unannounced][here] plans were in-the works to move the dates to June, the City would not allow the two-course design any later, as the site becomes much populated in the late Spring/Summer.

Plans are, for AMs and Pros alike to play AT LEAST one round on each course. We also plan [again, Monster Kudos to the Duron Family] to continue the PPA tradition of serving lunch between rounds.

I HOPE to have a flyer by Friday, but perhaps next week is more likely....like I said, I was aiming for June if this didn't go, and even the [i]possibility was recent news to me.

....anyone with the capability to provide a portable, PDGA-approved target, please contact Dan or myself.

Well, evidently MLK day is worthy of a 4-day weekend, at least that's my guess. I hope everyone's heath is OK; that's been a major concern personally for several weeks now....I hope that health is not the issue. But Until SoCal posts the official form, I will also accept these outlaw facimiles:

It looks very nice, thank you! ....however I am going to see if I can get the AREA map moved to a more intrinsic name/area, but everything is now there; Teesign Sponsors can figure how to reach me, etc.

...it will be interesting to see how many snabbed the 'Outlaw Flyer', now rescinded and much less-nice looking, but now I can guess who was amongst the 74 who peeked at the headline; thank you for your interest in the Open 2007, now Its 11th incarnation, as both a PDGA-sanctioned, AND SoCal event [which I think is even more significant: You know it's going to be a premium deal].

I know firsthand it's always an exciting thing to play a one-of, one-of-a-kind course, and whilst the Traditional, World Champion John Ahart-designed original layout, spread amongst the Carob, and Ash Forests here, is indisputably the nicest course around, for two days the 19-hole Horseshoe Lake layout will be THE nicest course, anywhere in SoKi.

Please, visit the 'fake' site for a blurb on how to find the East Course, and the Official site for a flyer, and Area map.

Thank you again for interest in El Dorado 11, and welcoming ALL to take opportunity of this unique event,

Respectfully, And with MUCH thanks to Dan Duron, INNOVA, and SoCal for this opportunity to serve locally and Regionally,

The last Three, yes; it was the third week in April, 2004, the year HB blatantly stole our dates; in the 90's it was July, one year. But we're sort of locked-in here, certainly not a snub to our Friends in Norki, as this is the latest we can set-up in East Regional....too many clueless Civilians, after that. It also ties-in with The Legend of El Dorado's Birth Anniversary; Pat turns 79 March 8th.

But thank you for your interest! I hope to get Pat's Artwork for this year's CFR 'up' soon, soon as my hosting site behaves. Remember, no Day-Of sales this year; order with entry.

The pencil line is not going to be a part of the final design. We Roll That Way is the given Title, and sort-of the de facto theme for Open 11, what-with the Event spilling onto a Second Course, etc.

I'm figuring to set-up the art on White Classic Rocs; I think that's the prints show up best, due to the rimmage distribution....more even 'light' distribution than a Blade, or an Aviar. Now, one might think artwork on a clear disc would be more true/look better, but I've seen first-hand, such is not the case; white works best.

So, I have to place the Full-coloured, Legend of El Dorado's Artwork/CFR order this week, and quite frankly, due-to the demonstration of refusal/neglect by people to get-with the program; the attitude that cash can bend the rules, and thanks to the accumulation of Pilot-friendly $ponsors, to assure our "B" Tierageness; plus not-to-forget-to mention the innocent, awed 'cililians' coveting Pats' Art, I'm leaning-towards a minimum order in 2007, something like half of last years' amount, and, most-regretably, likely a pass on the minis, as well.

....so, that's good for the hard-core collector$, but not Joe DG-er. Which is a shame, but I'm not going to jeopordize all the hard work of myself and others behind-the-scene, but more importantly, everyone else who actually plays/obeys; that would be a true tragedy.

I've been on the phone with a Pro from Nebraski, and I want to make clear if it isn't already:

The Event is NOT 'capped' at Pro/AM=90. In fact, the Pro field is barely 1/3 full, roughly.

...still hedging, this Pro also hinted touring, world-famous people were considering attendance, although I do not understand why these world-famous touring Pros would be attending here, rather than their more-Home Turffier St. Paddy's, however, these are real-for-sure, world-famous professional touring Disc Golfers, and I mean THE World world-famous, locally, regionally, continentally, and worldly world-famous, which the Pro mentioned.

Locally, 8 AMs is the SoCal Womens' tally, @ last Years' Champs, over 3 Divisions. Event-wise, I like the MASS-Division idea for the reasons of big points, and also the idea of having a "Top Card"; there's actually a chance of moving up/down.

....we're 'penciled-in' for the week AFTER the Bob West Memorial, for those whom plan well-in-advance: 15-16 March 2008.

We again plan competition over two courses, namely locally world famous El Dorado Park DGC, and the now-legendary Horseshoe Lake "temp" layout, SoCal's finest course, 2 days/year.

Sounds great.

I love that temp course.

A huge component of having the second course is people volunteering their Targets for use during the event.

....as Dan's shoulder is better now, and he plans to play, anyone wishing to 'pledge' use of their Target can do through myself via my new addy, [email protected] [the old one is basically a trash receptacle, so don't bother]. Or phone; I'm the only "Loken" in Westminster.

.....also, I am penciled-in to attend the SoCal Banquet in Riverside Dec. 9, if you prefer to 'commit' in person.

p.s. The now-legendary Horseshoe layout is tentatively set @ 22 holes, so the need is even greater in 2008.

Again you guy pick the same weekend as The St patricks Classic in NorCal. Why do you put it the same weekend as an A tier?

This is the most logical weekend in March. The weekend before is opposite the Memorial in Phoenix, which actually draws many, many So Cal players. The weekend after is Easter. While this may not be a big religious holiday for some disc golfers, it is a traditional family holiday weekend and many would not be able to attend a two day event. The weekend after Easter is the traditional weekend for EIEIO (opposite St. Pat's Pros.) Then there is the rest of the So Cal schedule to consider. The event is well beyond the 300 mile protection required by PDGA.

You need to look again for an A tier the distance is 700 miles which is well within that distance.

Please read the table correctly. The distance between two A tiers is 700 miles. The distance between a B tier and and A tier is 300. According to MapQuest, the distance between Orangevale and Long Beach is 430 miles.

300 mile protection aside...IF you only want 1/2 of the states Pros, thats what you will get.

Whats scheduled the weekend BEFORE Vegas....Wintertime??

Oh wait, we cant pull the "traditional" card or there wouldn't be an arguement for St. Pats, right?

wouldnt...Wintertime, Eldo, Vegas, Memorial, St Pats...be a nice "mini-Tour"?

But then again...unlike the NT schedule this year, That would make sense.. :p

With all the Events, and Winter-weather considerations, is it anywhere-near possible to have NO conflictions, even WITHIN Cali?!? Doesn't seem likely....

....for the record, we again had planned for "OUR" weekend [same as the last SEVERAL years, to honour PDGA Senior-of-theYear, The Legend of El Dorado], but NT Da BOB sto....er, 'took' that weekend for itself.

I guess technically, we could've 'demanded' 8-9 March, AGAIN, what with Horseshoe being 402 miles from Fountain Hills, yet are deigning, respectfully, to wishes of SOCAL, as part of the 'bigger picture'. That's as-it-should be; no regrets!

I'm sorry we can't accomodate ALL the Norki AMs; last year required 5-somes, and Ghostcarding, towards NOT turning people away from our popular event....yet how many AMs were planning BOTH, anyways?!? Sorry; blame Arizona!!!

OK....Now that I look further, I see it conflicts with the St Pats AMS....NOT the PRO...which is what I had thought was the case. :o

This conflict WILL NOT impact the attendence of the St Pats AMS in ANY WAY..

The Memorial is March 6-8. They are starting on Thursday this year. Also, the GCC in Vegas is Feb. 29-Mar. 2. Any clue on the Morley Spring Fling or Sunrise Showdown dates? I notice Santa Maria is absent as well.

No dates yet for Morley Spring Fling.

Sunrise will not happen this year unless a new TD steps up to take on the challenge.

No information yet from Santa Maria.

Thanks for all the info Suzette. Makes it easier to start next year's planning. Hopefully someone steps up and TD's Sunrise this year. It would be a shame to lose one of the most fun events on the schedule.

Yes, we are also confident Orangevale will be able to 'replace' their AMs who had to decide betwixt the two Meets....

* Higher Tiers dictate what the lowers do, etc....for events with DOUBLE the # of weekends, the PRO date is used, natch. Not because of the $$, nor even skill, but the Pro game = more commitment, least we forget, so >>> priority. :p

The Sat & Sun part, "for sure"....the [old] dates in Discette's earlier posting didn't reflect the 'leap back' one day after March 29 . :o
But I checked the calender; March 15-16, that's the plan! ;)

Everything else looks OK...a couple [i]early 3-day events, one starting on a [Practice Day]WEDnesday [ouch!] break the norm.
