The Moraine Monthly has been cancelled for this Saturday, February 3.
Weather forecasts predict single digit temperatures that morning with a wind chill below zero .

The tournament will be rescheduled for the following Saturday, February 10. Hopefully, we'll have better weather next weekend. I apologize for any inconvenience, but I do not want anyone getting frostbite on their whippet. Besides that, I'm a Texan... :D

The Moraine Monthly has been cancelled for this Saturday, February 10.
Weather forecasts predict a morning temperature of 11 degrees with a wind chill of -7.

The Monthly is rescheduled for Saturday, February 17 . The weather that week should be more friendly as we are supposed to see daytime temps reach the upper 30's. We apologize for any inconvenience and hope to see you on the 17th.

The Moraine Monthly is scheduled for this Saturday, February 17. Tee time is 10:00 am.

There will obviously be a lot of snow on the ground. I will request we use the Minnesota guidelines of walking in a single file up the fairway....then branching out 90 degrees to look for discs. This way the snow doesn't get trampled down and it will be easier to find the entry slits in the powder. Of course, if you throw a white disc, you're on your own....(I believe that's a Minnesota rule as well). :D

Dress warm!

Do the park roads get plowed up there?

gotcha
Feb 16 2007, 05:25 PM
Yes, the roads throughout the park are plowed. Tomorrow should be interesting to say the least. I do not believe any of us have played Lakeview in this amount of snow. There was snow on the ground last February, but you could still see areas of grass....I'm sure that will not be the case tomorrow morning! Dress warm and bring a camera. :D

State Park officials have requested a clinic for park visitors who are curious about disc golf so please consider spending the afternoon helping to promote the sport. Loaner discs will be available for the general public and the club will have new golf discs available for sale. We have no idea how many people will attend this clinic, however, the clinic is on the MSP calendar and park management will be in attendance. apparently they wont learn how to spell either! :o
and 64 isnt a fluke, you have that in you Kurt.

I have a hockey game at 4 that I am trying to get rescheduled. If that happens I will be there as well, maybe to aide a lefty if one shows up. I know how hard it is to try and take a right handed approach and convert that to a left handed thrower.

kUrTp
Oct 17 2007, 09:42 AM
Yes, I can't spell. But, I can't "Putt" either. I probably lost 15 shots this past weekend with putts 20 feet and in. It's definitly in my head now.

jmc2442
Oct 17 2007, 11:02 AM
well, Dan Sauers can comment on the fact that I cant "Putt" either.. I lose 7ish strokes a round by hitting chains, low-putting baskets, tops, everything but the bottom of the basket. And all the putts are so close, I mean decent putts. Its in my head too. To the point I've changed stance, approach, everything to try and hit putts.

Jeff_LaG
Oct 17 2007, 11:08 AM
Josh, I think you could also benefit from using a putter on approach shots. When we last played together you were pulling out a mid-range (Roc?) from 100-125 ft. and ending up 30-40 feet away from the basket, where the putting percentages go down for everyone from that range.

jmc2442
Oct 17 2007, 11:15 AM
You are somewhat correct Jeff, however, I purely played like crap that day... Like I believe I mentioned, the ten pack of aviars isnt going to hurt.

Jeff_LaG
Oct 17 2007, 12:33 PM
I thought you played very well at Deer Lakes. Of course we'd all like to be automatic with pure putting from 25 feet and in, but just like in ball golf, the approach skill is a vastly underestimated portion of the game and one that many players of all levels don't appreciate enough. At Timberlinks there were many relatively wide open 125-ft.-and-in approaches, and it's critical to be able to get up and down in two throws from that distance. I think that using a short range approach disc or a putter is going to get people into that 0-20 foot range more often, where putting becomes that much easier.

kUrTp
Oct 18 2007, 08:55 AM
Scott Strokely says, use a disc that will just get you there. If you can throw your putter a 150 - 200 feet and your midrange 200 - 250 feet, why throw your midrange when you only have 200 feet to the pin. If you throw your midrange chances are that you'll blow it by the pin leaving a longer putt. By throwing your putter, the chances are you'll park it or leave it just short.

You understand what i'm saying?

jmc2442
Oct 18 2007, 10:07 AM
I follow Kurt, and I know it to be true. That is why I need to get my 10 pack of aviars. I cant throw a putter 100 feet and over accurately because I never practice. The bee just flips, dives, anything but straight and flat. My game right now needs the midrange to have a chance at getting close. I'm hoping that's only for right now though. ;)

I've made the decision that I am going on the permanent disc golf diet. I cant release the details, however, it doesnt involve throwlonger.com and yes, it does involve practice.
