Darren Romo, a local disc golfer is giving a 1996 green Ford Taurus away on Saturday January 13, 2007. He wants to do a CTP from one of the blue tees out at Crowley after the the mini on Saturday. He is charging $10.00 a throw and you can sign up as many times as you want to prior to the first disc thrown. Your money is unrefundable. I believe that if there is enough interest there will also be 2nd and 3rd place package as well. He will hand you the keys and sign the title over to the winner on that day.

Don't miss out on this opportunity to get a car for $10.00.

hmmm....does it run? :D
and why not donate it to a regional area to give away at a tourney

The name, Danny Romo, does not sound familiar. So, he probably does not play tournaments. That is just a guess, Vinnie. However, the winner might donate it to either a tourny or a local charity. Who knows? If it is not raining, it might be worth attending to find out what happens. It would be interesting to find out the rest of the story. If enough people pay to throw, he could end up with a decent amount for the car. Then, the winner could turn around and donate it to a charity that would give a nice tax write-off.
Brice, will this be after the mini? For those that don't make it out, let us know the results. This is interesting. Could lead to a good idea for tournament CTP.

I agree with Vinnie. This needs to be done @ something better than a mini. Why not do it @ the Play It Again Sports Open?

Darren said he wants to do it on the 13th of January after the mini. I don't think he wants to wait much longer to give it away.

Ok, a few questions before I waste time driving out there.

#1 What is the milage.

#2 has it been wrecked

#3 what condition is it in.

#4 model ???

#5 Engine ??

Basicly detals you would find in a classified add.

It could be worth anywhere from $500 to $8000 depending on these answers

Let me add one more to Pizza's questions. Approx how long will the CTP throw be? Kinda figure its gonna be half distance comp.

Darren is going to have flyers put out at some of the local courses. He will also have a handful of flyers to pass out this weekend at the PIO.

Does it really matter.....it's a car for $10.00

The car has 165,615 miles on it. But you can add a few more miles, because it does run and I will drive it to the course on the day of the giveaway. Also it is a 4 door, automatic, power windows, power locks. It runs but does need some minor work. It was in a minor wreck. It is still in fair cond. It has a V6 engine. 1996 Ford Taurus GL

I will be at the course at 9:30am on Sat. 01-13-07 to take sign ups. The mini starts at 10am. My CTP contest won't take place until after the mini around 1pm. The CTP hole will be from the blue tee box on hole # 20. I don't know the distance, but my 12 year son can throw past the basket, if that gives anyone any ideas of how long the hole is. Also only one person may throw at a time, and the next person won't be able to throw until the previous person's disc have been measured and picked up.

No matter the condition of the car, no matter whether it be at a Crowley mini or a large sanctioned tournament. I think it is nice of Darren to sell his car in this manner. It is a great idea.

Thanks for the support. When I decided to do this I wasn't thinking about a mini, or some big tourney. I love to play this game and I just thought this would be a fun way to sell my car. When I started telling everyone about it everyone liked the idea. I even had someone offer me 500 dollars for my car without seeing it and I turned him down and said that would take the fun out of it.

So, first place gets the car, 2nd place gets the keys, and 3rd place gets the title? :D

Right now not knowing how well this is gonna turn out, I am for sure gonna have atleast 2 payouts to start. 1st place is the car. 2nd place will be atleast 50 dollars worth of new disc. If I do better than I'm expecting, than I will add more payouts. Maybe changeing 2nd place payout to a cash amount and a 3rd place payout in new disc. We'll just have to wait and see how many people come out and play.

Golf is out next saturday for me. My son has a science fair that day.

Maybe if it is in the morning, I will try to make it out for the CTP in the afternoon.

What happend if you win the CTP?

I've talked to a few friends and everyone thinks I shouldn't try to win my own ctp and I agree. So I will not be making any throws myself. I've also had some friends say I should hold off for better weather. But I am a man of my word and I said I would give this car away tomorrow and rain, sleet, snow, or hopefully shine, this ctp contest will still go on. I know the weather is gonna hurt my funds, but you never know. Like I said before its a car for ten dollars. I think no matter what the weather is it would be worth someone tryin for. And with the weather if fewer people show up, that will increase the odds for the ones that do still come out. Remember you can sit in your ride in front of the ctp hole and see the throws and wait for your turn. And myself, I hope to see a good turnout tomorrow.

It's finally here, the day someone is gonna win a car for only 10 dollars. Cold wet weather, bad for me, good for the one's that still come out. I know this weather is gonna keep some people from coming out but that will only increase the odds of winning for the one's that do come out. So if you were thinking about coming out but decided not to because of other compition, this weather will eliminate some of your compition and increase your odds of winning ! Car giveaway today around 1pm maybe a little sooner if we get a break from weather. So come out to Bicentennial Park in Crowley Texas and give it a try. Remember 10 dollars a throw, you may buy as many throws as you want before the first person makes the first throw. The CTP hole #20 is located right in front of the parking lot for everyone to see while waiting in their ride if they wish until it's their turn. So don't let this weather keep you from coming out and winning a car for 10 dollars. I am fixin to go to course myself to start sign-ups, hope to see everyone soon.
