Miraculous is right. Thats what happens when you throw in a 2 off a tree like you did against me.

I just hope not to get eliminated so quick this year (I only made it through 4 or 5 rounds), but...at least I went out with an ace on tiki 18!
MTL21676
Jan 04 2007, 09:59 AM
Yeah I got beat in the 2nd round by tree boy :D
Funny story from my first round match. I get paired with a guy that I have never heard of. I find him and while we are waiting to start I ask him what division he was playing over the weekend. He says "oh I'm in the band and I've only played a few times" He then asks me what division I played and I said "pro, but I really suck at tiki (I had only ever had one tiki ace at that point)"
Then I step up and ace hole 1 to start.
He says "wow, this is gonna be quick"
It was a lot of fun!

as far as i know courses are the same as 2006, although the ob on hole 8 on the sunnyside has been shortened to remove the stupidity factor.
johnbiscoe
May 22 2007, 11:40 AM
...and they MAY use a different tee on hole 16 on sunnyside one round - it makes the hole a layup out of the chute followed by a layup to the basket- not tricky.
gblaw65
May 22 2007, 11:51 AM
Middle Section of OB on #8 Sunnyside has been removed. OB Still exists around the swampy area in front of the tee and behind the pin.
Hole# 16 - New Tee (Original Tee if anyone remembers). Looking from the pin to last years tee, the new tee is 90 degress to the left at the tree line probably 150-200ft deep in an alley with trees on both sides. Will play to a basket position short of the pond. May move pin across the pond for second round depending on green conditions.
Darkside pond (dry last year) has been damned and is filling. OB will be adjusted to match pond.
----
New parking arrangements:
As you enter the Grange you will turn right before heading downhill toward the course. The property in that area with a house and kid's jungle-gym belongs to the Grange. Day-parking will be located to the right of the house facing blockhouse road. Further along the road a new entrance to the camping area/long-term parking has been created.
We should have good signage for this area starting Thursday afternoon/evening.
The entire area around this new house is a QUIET area for the duration of the tournament.
----
All kids under 16 years old must remain with their parent/gaurdian at all times!

More info as I think of it.

Good.
I was hoping that 8's OB would be better and that 5 10 and 11 would go back to where they were (b/c I think they were all 3 great holes before, now they are blah blah and blah), but its all good.
There were some good changes too (7 and 12).
looking forward to the weekend!

May 22 2007, 12:15 PM
Yes, with the exception of a new tee for #16 Sunny. The new tee is actually one that has been used before, but not in a long time. It changes #16 into a 90-degree dogleg turn to the right. This weekend, a portable basket was set on the near side of the water. It shortens the hole up a bit, but you have the water as a deterrent to overshooting to get to the pin.
I think that's the only change.

funny... i like 5 and 11 both much better in the new set-up.
my main grief was 5 was it a similar style hole to hole 6. I felt like I was playing the same hole back to back.
11's old tee was just a really fun shot to throw. I still like the current hole, but it's one of those things where I would rather have the pin on 10 back in the longer placement (it's a par 3.5 now - no socre seperation at all) and then still have the original 11.
The old 10 and the old 11 had much more score seperation (golfers getting 3 4 and 5 on 10 and 2 3 on 11) than the way it is now(mostly 3's on 10 and 11).
Why was 16 changed? That was a really good short hole!
johnbiscoe
May 22 2007, 01:07 PM
i agree on 10- it was the best hole on the course before it was changed.
11 has as much separation as it ever did imo, now it's 3/4 instead of 2/3. new hole is less biased to the bigger arms.
imo the new 5 is the best wooded hole on the sunnyside. if it were up to me we would probably play 6 from the short.
16 was changed for change's sake imo- i agree it was better before. back in the day before the trees grew too tall that tee pad was a great risk/reward shot across the pond- you could try and go over for the 2 with likely dire results for failure or you could lay up for the 3.

imo the new 5 is the best wooded hole on the sunnyside. if it were up to me we would probably play 6 from the short.
Agreed. New 5 is more of a Par 4 now, but following it up with #6 from the long tee seems somewhat redundant. I like both versions of #6, but prefer a long hole-short hole configuration at that point in the round. If you wanna play 6 long, then put 5 back in the short pin position, and vice-versa. There's a series of Par 3's leading up to it, then two long holes, then back to Par 3 for the rest of the front 9.
A little weird, but then, it IS The Grange! Things happen there that don't happen anywhere else in the world!

Any change on how to get to the hill for those of us camping? I'll be getting there late Thursday afternoon.
gblaw65
May 22 2007, 04:53 PM
To get to the campsites located in the vicinity of hole #1 you will turn to the right prior to going onto the paved part of the driveway (shortly after turning off of blockhouse road). 200-300 ft. later there is a new road cut through the woods leading out toward hole.
We will make it as obvious as possible.
august
May 23 2007, 07:55 AM
If you think of the main entrance driveway as going up a hill, and then down, you take a right at the top of the hill before the asphalt begins. Then on the left and about 150 feet after you take the right, there is a new path cut for access to the camping area so that the area between Mike's house and the pool is no longer a thoroughfare.
