whippet is faster with more glide. The rim is slightly wider also. They feel pretty different in the hand. I lost my champ whippet, never really got used to the demon and have been throwing a Gator ever since.

I'd say the S demon is a little more over stable than either the KC or the DX whippet. The dome and rim of the demon are considerably thicker and feel more like a mid range where the whippet feels like a driver. Demons are much more durable than a DX whippet (it took me 6 months of play to get a demon to the point of turning over and it only took 2 weeks for the DX whippet). The KC whippets are much more durable than there DX counterpart but have a tendency to crack and chip rather than getting small dings. I hope this information is of some use to you.

Rim on the Demon is about the same as a Leopard. Rim on the Gator is closer to a Roc.
I like Gators [a lot], but they don't seem to stay overstable as long as my Demon has. The Demon is faster, but because it's so very overstable it's really dependable for short-midrange hyser spikes, and in the wind. Whippet is faster and thinner than the Demon.
I've had a Demon in my [all Innova] bag for a year ... I haven't found anything better for short-midrange shots that absolutely have to turn hard. Closest disc IMO is a NEW 1st run CH Gator ... and these days they cost about twice as much if not more than a Demon.

Can anyone comment about how the Demon compares to a CFR Viper? I've been wanting to try the Viper to see if it's close to the Demon.

The CFR Viper (X mold) is mad over stable....it probably the most overstable thing innova has ever made. When new this disc has no glide and will immediatly seek turf out of the hand. On a MAX D anhyzer pump I could only get this thing out around 225. It was great for throwing spike shots over trees, short skips and side arms flicks. A demon has more horizontal fade than A CFR viper.

I threw one and it was pretty similar to the new "E" Demons but not as beefy as the S ones.

The CFR Viper is the most overstable disc made to date..previous post about hitting 225 is more than accurate..you can try all you want to crank this disc but it isn't going to happen..
maybe that is why they made so few
not a worthless disc, but not made for too many shots on the course.....no where close to a whippet..not even the same ballpark...and still makes a SPEED DEMON look understable..

We have some flat clear straight CE type E Speed demons and Spirits that I guarantee are the most overstable discs ever made and even 50 full blast hits into a solid brick wall wont make them fly straight.
ANOTHER GREAT CASE FOR THE PLASTIC BYRON! :D:D:D

Even more overstable than a flick? If it is if you got it up in the air with not much power it may end up behind you :D.

Flicks aren't that overstable. I know some people that use them for a stable placement driver and i know quite a few who flip them. As for the Flat top spirit/speed demon (which I own a couple of) I think they are the just about the same stability. Straight up and straight into the ground. :D

Johnny McCray may be able to give a better comparison in the recent runs of E vs the S demon.
But to me it seems like a whippet is much closer to a blaze in speed and stability with the S blazes a little lesss overstable and the E blazes a little more overstable than the whippets I have thrown,
the ones I have are the ones Stevie Rico used to use back in the day ( early 90's)
I know some players are really liking that limited run of E Demons from the fall. There were 3 versions, 2 were pretty beefy and 1 was a bit puffy on the wing and a little straighter.
I hadn't even thrown any demon in a while, I guess I should have tested them head to head against recent runs of the red and Black S demons for stability comparison.
I know the E demons can take pretty direct hits into a wall and not change the flight.
We sold through the E pretty quick but there should be about 400 left at the shop and there are about 800 S !

Dave--what do you think about the recent s run of red and blk. demons compared to demons of the past--thx

The Black are grippy and really Overstable and the red are a little closer to G6i-ish, but still fairly beefy!

BTW you don't own any of the ones Dave is talking about! They had them at the shop and wouldn't sell them because they were so insane. I could max out at 150ft with one if I threw it flat. I could muscle a spike up to 230' but the disc wasn't really flying. :D

Yes the super flat super durable insanely overstable spirits were a bit too much to sell and the insanely overstable comment is an understatement.
We reground most of them but we still have a small box at the shop somehere, for those who need to see these things for themselves.
"WARNING just having the disc in your car could make it pull to the left" :D:D:D:D
