If you could get some old pro-line leopards that would be best. I prefer the star over the champion.

Dec 20 2006, 12:44 AM
I am carrying a star and it flies pretty straight brand new. After about 20 rounds it is even easier to throw. The Champion is more durable and will retain it's flight pattern longer. The Star, being new and hot, is good looking and a lot of fun to throw.

The early opaque CE and the old pro line were very durable and flatter and overstable for a long time.

the star leoprd has become my go to leopard for long shots and slow turnovers. for shorter more finese shots i use a champion leopard. the champ seems to be a little less stable. i also have a pro line but it has since been beaten and is now my go to roller. it you are only going to carry 1 leopard carry the star.

CE Leopard. :D One in the road bag, one in the home bag, several in a box stashed away. Not sure why the extras. I'm still using the original two. :D

Murf nailed it. Gummy old Proline Leopards are the schiznit for tunnel line-drives & gentle annys. Not so much rollers (gummy plastic absorbs too much momentum upon 1st impact).

Which is better?

They are both great, I have had the CE leopard in my bag since they came out, it is just now at a good broken in point. Only took 3 years. The Star brand new is SWEEET, it has more glide and seems a liTTle faster than the CE. I love the Star Leopard. Great for hyzer release to flip up and fly straight for days.

Great for long woods holes.

I too have a CE Leopard that I've been working on for 2 years now. It's still pretty stable. I recently put a Star in the bag and love it for straight, low ceiling tunnel shots. The CE has to take a break some times because it's black and yellow (hard to see in the fall around here).

Is there truth to the rumor of the Barry Schultz Leopard? Is it in circulation/production?

Yes, it is already in circulation.

I think the Star is a sweet disc. They remind me of 1st Runs, only they beat in faster, similar to the later opaque run. All the same, they are very reliable.

IMO, the best CE Leopards are the dayglo 2nd runs. They take the longest to beat in, and hold the truest lines. Just getting a bit pricey.

can someone give me some comparisons of the leopard and a sidewinder?

Sidewinder is much flippier than a Leopard

i think the sidewinder is faster than the leopard as well.

Is the Sidewinder more low-speed overstable than any of the Leopards?

bschweberger
Dec 23 2006, 04:47 PM
I doubt that, since if you threw a Leopard at low speed it proll would not carry as much as a SW

gokayaksteven
Dec 23 2006, 05:19 PM
i perceived more low speed fade with the sidewinder than with a leopard, but also more hi speed turn with the sidewinder.

I carry both. I use the leopard for tight tunnel shots and the sidewinder when I want more speed. The sidewinder is a little more understable. The leopard has more turn at the end.

how do either 1 compare to a Star TL or CFR TL, I use those for tunnel shots and use Star Valk and Champ Valk for anhyzers.

Some of us older guys don't have the "Gorilla Boy" arm like you.

I do have a Star Valkrie in my bag but, it goes really straight for me.
I hung my Chain Reaction (http://www.chainreactiondiscgolf.com/) dyed Champion Leopard on the wall.
Now replaced by a 171 Texas Teams Star Leopard. :D

To me a TL and a Leopard are very similar in flight. The TL seems a little faster and has a little more fade at the end. I have thrown TLs in the past, but currently have leopards in the bag. They are just a little easier to control. I have one at a perfect stablity that goes dead straight with almost no fade. Also a star one that replaced all Teebirds in the bag because it is so overstable(for a leopard).

Valks are faster. Sidewinder flies kind of like a little less stable Valk. I prefer Roadrunners which are just a touch less stable than sidewinders. It comes dowm to preference, as I can do just about the same thing with all discs mentioned. Find one you like and throw the heck out of it!!

Dec 25 2006, 11:05 PM
champion because star is to slippery.
and more overstable.
