Let's say your playing a doubles tournament and your partner has to leave in the middle of the round. Does the remaining partner continue to play? Does that person get any extra throws?

What about during a casual round? Should the lone player get two throws per lie or just one extra throw per hole?

This happened to me once this year. It was a $5 a man, heads up, doubles match. 1 player from the other team announced he had to leave with 3 holes left. His partner was very upset as they were winning by 2 strokes. In the interest of good sportsmanship we allowed the remaining player to finish the round Cali (1 extra shot per hole), even though technically based on traditional betting rules we should have automatically won when their team DNF. He offered to surrender the money, but we felt it would be more fair to let him finish Cali.

BTW...we ended up winning by parking and duecing the last hole anyway. :D

That is the way it should be.

I think it has been ruled that in Best Shot and Best Score, a team can be 1 person with no Cali benefits (no extra throws). In Alternate Shot and Worst Shot, a team must have two players.

During a casual round, it's up to the other team IMO, although I wouldn't see why allowances wouldn't be made (as SD did during their round).

It has been ruled that way at world doubles when Jimmy Zamora had to finish solo. His partner was asked to leave after being caught for drinking alcohol during play. Jimmy was allowed to finish the round because it wasn't alt or worst shot, if it was then he wouldn't have been able to finish the round. As for casual play who cares unless you got alot of money on the line but, then that really isn't too casual is it.... ;)
