Alright, kiddies, it's that time of year again...what do you think was the best disc released in 2006?
I'm going with the Innova Goblin. I've hit more 50'-100' putts with this than I ever thought possible!

I would have to go with the Inferno as the disc of the year. It is one bad ***** disc.

Nothing really came out this year that really increased my distance/accuracy. In fact, my disc for the year was approved in 2001 (teebird). I have a feeling I'll start messing around with big drivers more next year as companies figure out how to make very fast drivers with more reasonable rim widths.

Star Wraith for reliable and consistent distance. No other new disc even came close to the impact of the Wraith on my golf game.

I have to second that and go with the Star Wraith..when the CFR came out I found distance that wasn't there before with other discs, but the Star flies further and grips much better.

I would say the disc of the year is the Millennium SOLF, especially since it was released this year.
The design has broken the barrier of distance and speed without increasing the rim diameter. I believe this is very rare.

history may have to be the judge on this one but I am going with the DT discs for this one. Perhaps someday 2006 will be looked at as the year everything changed with the introduction of the dimple tech.

TeeRex. It's definitely my go to driver for D now. Has surpassed the wraith in my book.

The TeeRex is the better Wraith... but the TeeRex would not be my choice as it appears to be a tweaked Wraith.

I was honestly disappointed with the Infernos that I have thrown. They were less stable than road runnners for me and the plastic felt good for grip but the disc never felt solid in my hands. Too floppy/flimsy. I did have some monster tailwind drives with them but that felt lucky.
I would almost vote for the star mini driver.. they freakin bomb!
I am interested in trying the Warlock, if that's considered a 2006 disc, it sounds like it has some major potential.
For now my vote goes with the TeeRex. Though mine beat up quickly it is still the furthest most predictable hyzer disc in my bag. Edit: If the TR is just a retooled Wraith, then I'll have to vote for the Max... smooth, solid feel in the hand, hugest long skips ever (sorry whippet)

I think you have to go with molds not plastic variations. The actual disc is the mold, not the plastic, and if the mold was created in 2005 or whenever, you can't really say that having it is Star plastic is a new disc. A Wraith is not a 2006 disc, so the Star Wraith can't be in the running. I think the Surge is a good potential. As well as the TeeRex.
Both of these drivers have had a significant impact in my region. As in, most everyone I know carries one of these in their bag.

For me it was probably the Blurr. It starts out just like a max in stability but breaks in to be a very controlable long driver. The SD-DT may surpass this before the year is out though. :D
Outside of what's in my bag I would say the Goblin as well. The only time I threw it it went 300ft low and straight and was an inch low from being an ace.

ESP Surge, without a doubt!

The disc that is probably the most thrown of the year is either the ESP Surge of the TeeRex.
However, due to Discraft discontinuing the Torque and the extreme popularity of it, this could be the next high selling disc on ebay.
SOLF hands down. Pure money.

You've gotta admit ... Gateway is really trying to push the technology. So my vote goes to the Inferno. Another great disc, one of the best Gateway discs I have ever thrown. I only have first runs, and the plastic is a little weird ... I would love to get one with better plastic. The Scream, and other DT discs are pretty cool too. I think Gateway deserves the DOTY for all their hard work.
PS. I throw an all Innova bag ... but they are all older discs except the TeeRex, and it's not the most innovative disc of the year IMO.

i'm in with the Surge, ESP version. a close second is the 2006 Ace Racer, which pretty much gives you short-driver distance with the controlability of a good midrange.

I have to say the Inferno is definitely up there but I just got the rage and its pretty awesome straight out the box. A little less stable for me than the Blurr and as long as a wraith and inferno but with more control..I like it

Another vote here for the Teerex , alltho the new Max has found its way into my bag as a dependable utility disc.
What year did they release the Sidewinder? If its a 2006 disc I'll have to reccomend that one also.

Orion LF, baby. I dig the Sirius and the Quantum.
These are absolute money. I do not get surprised by very many discs, but on many occasions these little rimmed discs have executed some of the longest, most accurate flights I've ever seen. If I only could play with one driver, this would easily be it.
Also worth a mention is the DGA Rogue. It whipped the Surge out of my bag because it is absolutely longer. It is the longest disc I've ever thrown, and with a smaller rim than the Wraith, it is far more controllable.

Don't leave out the Rogue!!!!!!! I see a lot of votes for the ESP Surge. The Rogue is a more stable Surge, that pops up and glides forever.

I created a new poll just to make sure the Rogue, OLF, and Banger were all included. I wouldn't call it a more stable Surge (I've thrown Surges that were more stable, and I've thrown Surges that were less stable), but I would call it a longer, faster Surge with more glide. People need to try this disc.
