I havent heard much if anything about this bag company on this site. I recently got my gorilla boy bag in the large capacity (retail 75$) and found it well worth the money and a good review, so here it is:
I almost started a new thread, but i have found it hard to find all the info on these bags already (there are three threads) so here it is:
So I finally got my Gorilla Boy bag after reading all kinds of good reviews and seeing how great they look. And I am definitely overall impressed with the apparent durability, weight, capacity and of course the visual appeal.
First impressions are important, and I have to say that when I opened the UPS box I was super excited to see how well the cammo and red worked together. I had 4 colors to choose from, Blue, Red, Yellow and Traditional Camouflage. As you can see in the pictures, I opted for the cammo and red. I love it and Everyone who has seen the bag has really liked it. I am waiting on some red quads to go w/ the bag too.
The bag functions as well as any other bag on the market. It is very light for a bag capable of holding over 18 discs in the main compartment. 18 discs fit easily even w/ some putters in there, and theres still a room to move, I can see you fitting 20 easily. The putter pocket fits a couple putters well, although one feels a little loose. It has D rings for quads although I would compare its empty weight to an Innova Deluxe bag (16 disc capacity). The strap that comes w/ the bag is padded better than any shoulder strap I have seen, only adding to the light feel of the bag. The frame is not the most rigid, but is plenty enough for the bag to keep its shape, and the added weight is minimal. Of course the frame keeps discs organized better than traditional (accordion) style dividers, and will last a whole lot longer. The main side pocket is large enough to hold a windbreaker and some gloves, or whatever you may need to carry. I like the large pocket on the back, opposite of the putter pocket. I actually have carried an Ultrastar for a couple rounds just because I could. I was afraid that holding a disc, especially one that large would be uncomfortable on your back but I found it wasnt an issue. All the little features such as the score card holder and small pockets on the outsides of the bigger ones are helpful.
The only issues w/ functionality is there is not a velcro or similar flap to hold the rain flap when not in use. Although this is not an issue as most people fold it up inside the bag (which is what I have been doing and it works great). Also the water-bottle holder while not necessary could use a drawstring to better secure a smaller drink although it fits a 32oz Nalgene bottle perfectly. The insulator is also thicker than any others Ive seen. The insulation padding is enough to hold a 20 oz soda or similar smaller beverage pretty well, but would fall out if the bag was nearly inverted.
I cannot give the most accurate review on the bags durability yet, but it appears to be very well stitched and the cordura is very durable. I picked up the bag at my parents house in Denver and used it to carry some art supplies (a great misuse) home on the back of my motorcycle. I didnt notice when I left but I had triangles of plywood cut out to straighten a canvas. The corners were sharp and they shifted to a point where they would rub the bag w/ the vibrations of my motorcycle. When I got to Greeley (65 miles) well lets just say the points of the plywood were worn down a little, and the bag just had marks of sawdust rubbed into it. At first glance he bottom is not thick but appears to be very durable. Although I generally treat my bags very well I did test the quality of the fabric used on the bottom by dragging the bag on some textured concrete and this didnt seem to leave a mark. I feel comfortable saying that the material is easily as durable as the Revolution bags I have experience w/.
The red and cammo is delicious:
