Being relatively new to disc golf (only been playing for 1 year), I have become addicted and love the sport. I bought a couple of USDGC Rocs last year and plan on collecting them in the future. My question to the knowledgable is: What are the best discs to claim? Should I purchase the lower weights that are made in increments of 2 or 4 and leave the 180g discs to be thrown, or should I be looking for max weight as they are desirable?

Last year I bought a Blue SB Signiture Hole 7 171g (only 4 were made) and a Yellow Champion Eye Roc 170g (only 2 were made). Personally, I think it's pretty cool to have such rare discs, but what's more beneficial in terms of collecting? Thanks.

Great question.

From my experience, the max weight collector discs fetch the most money on eBay. By quite a fair bit, actually.

Every disc I purchase for collection is at max weight if possible, including USDGC Rocs. Unless I intend to throw it...then I go much lighter!

Thanks for the clarification. Besides the 2001 Rocs, are there any others that are extremely sought after?
There also seems to be quite a few different varieties of Wraiths (Fundraisers, Holiday, Signitures, etc.) coming out. Can anyone tell me if they think these will be worth picking up? I've already been able to get a Dave Feldberg Signiture Wraith 175g, I had him sign it, and I was wondering if anyone knew how many of these were run. Thanks in advance.

I think there were 100 of the Feldberg signature wraiths. As far as the wraiths go, the signature ones will probably appreciate the most.

I believe the sig. wraiths like Des' were made in batches of 100 only. I would also recommend buying max weight for collecting purposes (and for throwing, but that's just me)

I would also challenge and advise you to collect a set of Pro Worlds discs from beginning to end (1982 - current)

There were only 200 discs made with the 1982 Pro Worlds Stamp so there can only be 200 sets ever completed that include that disc. I personally know of someone that owns 5 or so of the 1982's so that limits it even further.

I spent the last 2 years compiling my colletion and quite a bit of cash but their value will only go up year after year.

Here is what I collected to date:

SWEET! I'm a Worlds collector too! Yup, I need a 1982 Worlds Wham-O!!! Seen 'em go on eBay for way over $100, gonna have to bite the bullet one of these days...

My goal is to also have all the discs signed by that year's open champ. I currently have World sigs from Ahart, Russell, Climo, Schultz, Todd, and Doss. Any of yours signed???

I haven't purchased any signed ones to date. I wanted just the original discs first and figured I could upgrade my collection over time.

The '86 Aviar was one of the toughest to come by for me and of course I found a cheaper one after I dropped a bill for the one I bought.

I also have a lot of the mini's from those years also

I guess I wasn't paying attention. I just collected stamps of places I traveled to and interesting stamps. I'll have to dig through some of my old boxes.

I know that I have a couple of different Huntsville stamps. Maybe you should stop by the house and see what you can find.

Most definately..my Huntsville disc is one of the first I put in the collection. I almost bought a 2nd one from Himing but never did...
