having never been to this event.......is it a course that you can "see and learn" by walking through it the morning of the event....or is it one where playing it a couple of times is better?

i'd like to know before driving 5 hours to find out please!

Some of the holes have a definite local advantage, but seeing as anybody who is going to this event is not going to be local. 90% of the faiways are well defined. The 1st year I played it the course needed alot of work, last year it was 10 times beTTer. I can only expect that the course will be improved again.

Plus it is the only event in the area for a while so, alot of people will be playing it just because of that.

I'm from Savannah and will be visiting next week. I'll give an update on how the course is playing after I return. My mom lives 10 min from TT park. I also read the blog from the Frizzaks site and sounds like you guys enjoyed yourselves last year. Try out downtown Savannah for some nitelife, RiverStreet has some nice places. Every time I visit I always hit Wet Willies, they have killer frozen drinks that will make you walk around naked and take beers from other peoples rooms :D

nice blog, glad i was there for the rolling rock incident. although, thats not quite the way i remember it. any update on the Grill Dic challenge? or is that the next episode of one-dome hill?

I was there a few months ago my wife and I took a trip up to Savannah for the weekend to play the course and enjoy the city. The course was under light construction not many of the pads were finished the course was easily traversed, but brutal. Some of the longs are almost impossible to take a 3, but the shorts are much, much easier.

I think those difficult 3's are some of the best holes on the course. On a nice day the course is a great test of disc golf. If the wind blows it can be tough. But that is why heaven sent the Max.

Is Baxter playing open this year? Lets hope so for the ams.

well unfortunately, the tournament in miami is the same weekend :( and i can stay with my family and play 1 of the courses i designed and built.... so i will be going there instead...the miami tourney was always in sept/oct when i was running it and the last 2 years they moved it to january i just found out...

anyways good luck to mr. schweberger and i'll see you somtime later in the year i guess :D

Addie - I don't know if I'll be there. I'm still having problems with the finger I messed up back at the end of August. Two rounds seems to be all that it will give me, especially if it is cold. I'll let you know. I'd love to have the chance to play well on that course, gosh darn it!! Of course, I'm sure the weather will be LOVELY this year!!!

having never played here before, i was looking at the savannah club's course map of the park, and saw the course has two sets of tees. what is the format going to be in the tournament?

not sure, at least one round of each.

Rumor is a round from each on Saturday and a round from the long tees on Sunday, according to Baxter on the Savannah site... but that could all change with a little WIND thrown in....

I think it was #14 last year coming back over the water there were some crazy flight patterns. That corner of the lake must fill up with discs on windy days. Good times, I stayed dry.

Was there an alternate tee box for the distance challenged on that hole?

We are definitely trying to finish two rounds before the sun goes down on Saturday. We've moved the start time up an hour from last year, and we have decided to start with the shorter, yellow tees.

If the first round proceeds as anticipated, we will play blue* the second round and blue* for the final round. If there are delays in the first round, we will play yellow for the second and blue* the final round.

Considering that the entire Pro Masters field is equal to or less than himself, shouldn't he step up for simplicity?

The choice was obvious to move up. The fact he didn't implies some other motivation such as "letting" someone else win Master and just play the event for fun.
