Hello, my name is Christin Jackson. My husband Zane and I purchased the TX10. We are the only owners, we have no other partners involved as far what has been said by anyone. We will be caliing it The Texas Disc Golf Charity Tour. I will be running next years tournaments with out him due to him being overseas. I already have great supporters behind me to help with these events. I am currently working on next years schedule. So far everything is going well. I'm looking foward to next year! Hope everyone has a great Christmas and I look foward to seeing everyone next year. Christin :)

I would play almost any park in the DFW area. One thing that would be nice to see is more one day sanctioned tournaments.

I second Gonzalez and Kyle --- the Gonzo course is a remarkabley fun course that could use the additional exposure...it's well worth the road trip just to enjoy the grilled whole wild hog that the locals have cooked up for our enjoyment the last two events.
Kyle is a GREAT new course that does not have a tournament --- but I bet that you could pull a lot of Austin, San Marcos, and San Antonio players to fill it.

I am sure Chris or Gary Duke could provide you with the #'s from the past years to show what courses pulled the largest fields in the past to give you a good idea on what events may have larger turnout than others.
New courses around the state should also be looked at to provide exposure for your tour and the new course.
Thanks for taking over the tour!

I will put my two cents in, Tyler Blue/Red are two courses side by side. The biggest problem is the drive, but since these are one day events generally anyone in Dallas can drive over in the morning and out be evening. One upside, is one in East Texas is more likely to draw from Nac, Longview, Shreveport, Athens and of course Tyler.

I noticed a lot of people want to play a tournament out at the new course in Kyle. I've been working with the univ. in San Marcos to get the course there up to tournament standards. We have just lost three holes, but replaced them with new ones, so we still have 19 playable! We will be getting new tee boxes and tee signs soon! These two courses are very close to one another and would draw a lot of central texas players. You could even split the pros and ams up between the courses and play multiple rounds at each course b/c Kyle has dual cement pads longs and shorts and San Marcos has forwards and backwards layouts that are both challenging.

tyler was on my first post, forgot to put it on this one but of course add Tyler-2 quality courses side by side.-and make the Tyler stop a southern nationals qualifier since there isnt too many in TX for some reason.
Southern National affiliation would be excellent.
You would benefit the foundation if all the events were sndg qualifiers. I would play a lot more southern national events if there were more in Texas!

Just think...you would draw Austin, San Marcos, San Antonio, and every other sintex golfer if a tourney was held at Kyle....plus, there hasn't been a tourney there yet. I'm not sure if the Parks n Rec dept would charge a fee, but it seems like they are willing to work with the disc golf community (especially if there is a charity factor). I'm not sure about San Marcos...will the university allow a tourney to be held, logistically speaking?

Crowley does have a 20 hole course and has alot of extra room to put in temporary holes in case a larger tournament came through. I could easily have a 30 hole course created with temporary baskets.
I personally would love to see the Texas Disc Golf Charity tour come to Crowley. It would be a fun tourny.

Dec 06 2006, 04:18 PM
Crowley also has at least 3 different tee pads on every hole. The white course and the Red course are raelly two different courses. We also have the easier blue course if juniors wanted to play.

I should see if we can redesign that course, the back 9 that was put in a few years back was pretty good, and the front 9 could be tweaked. It would still be in a flood plain and require consistent mowing, but it could be a flat but interesting course.

Yes you can host tournaments on the univ. campus in San Marcos. We've had sactioned events there in the past. The last one was the San Marcos Open, I think Alex Downs won it, but I don't remember I wasn't there for it.
Another two great courses not too far away from one another are Universal City and the new BRIAN MCCLAIN DISC GOLF COURSE (http://www.wolfriders.com/). A tournament at these two courses would make for a pretty good weekend.
Temple is also going to be a great place for two 18 hole courses within close proximity.
I'd like to maybe see some stuff in Waco or even that course in south Waco, Woodway park.

Woodway is a neat park. The juniper trees are awesome, but there are a couple of baskets out there that would require some attention. If you have ever played that course, you know what I am talking about ........

All I remember from Woodway was the icy cold wind blowing about 30 mph over the banks of the river.
MP757
Dec 07 2006, 02:40 PM
Fantastic view out at woodway park overlooking that lake. The course is actually not that "easy." The wind described just before hand makes some of those low tunnel shots harder than they look. I tend to remember there being O.B. very close to a number of holes. I also remember the triangle/upside down pyramid thingy that was spray painted and placed where a basket should have been. That was some funny stuff, and probably one of the most ghetto repair jobs I've ever seen on a disc golf course, and I've seen a lot, even made a few myself, but nothing that bad. :DHa! Ha! Ha! :D

Christin - If you bought the Texas 10 series name from Himing, then why wouldn't you want to capitalize on the 6+ years of brand-name recognition? The Texas 10 had a huge following of supporters which it seems like you'd be able to tap right into by keeping the same name. Isn't that the whole point about buying the Texas 10 series?

I have come to the decision that I will not be running any tournaments in 2007. Due to many things that have happened and things that are currently going on. I still have alot of cleaning up to do with what had happened in the purchase of the tour. I still have a lot of things to do and get for the tournaments and learn about the tournaments. The way that my school schedule is laid out. 3 saturdays of every month i will be busy with school. Plus being a single mother of 3 right now due to my husband being overseas. I want to make the tournaments the best that I can make them. I hope that you understand where I am coming from right now, if not I'm sorry. If you have any questions. From what I hear the Belton course near my house will probably go in late 07 or early 08. There is a lot of planning for the Belton City, the Corps of Engineers, and DOT due to the lake to lake road which will cut through the park.
We are not sure if it will be 9 or 18 holes yet.
