Calling all players!
There is a new 18 hole course in Emory, VA on the campus of Emory & Henry college. The course is listed on the course directory but the listing contact is hard to get in touch with.
There are 18 discatcher baskets on a beautiful piece of land. The course design is somewhat remedial but there is plenty of room for improvements.

We need to get the word out better and work with the college to improve their amenities - tpads, benches, signs, kiosk etc... I would love to start a club of local players that is willing to meet each week for a round together. If you are intrested email me - [email protected]

If you have played the course please share your opinions with the rest of us. I have now seen a -6 shot at this course and I'm sure some pros could shoot -15, but it will work for beginners.

If it's warm enough, I'll check it out next weekend.

Yo Cam, give me a call or drop me an email and we can meet out there for a round. I can play either day - Sat or Sun - but I don't think the temps will be much above 50. Good practice for the Ice Bowls!

Bring your Rocs and putters. You will only use about 2-3 drivers on 18 holes.

I'll definately will give you a call when I head that way. I know a guy that lives in Abingdon that has been wanting me to take him to play, so maybe I'll take him there.
If you want to head to Kingsport, I am having a Moonlight Mini this coming Wednesday at Borden Park. It will start at about 6:30 - 7 pm. I've got lights for sale or you can use glow discs. Also, free dinner, starting about 5:30. This week Chili will be served, along with water/soda. Pro's are $10 a head, Ams $5.

Does anyone want to get in a round at Emory on this Sunday Dec 10th? I'm thinking about 1:30 for max temps.

Cam - getting down to Kport on a weekday after work with a 2 yr old is pretty much out of the question, even if the round is GLOW (after dark). Plus the hour commute home would put me back well after my weekday bedtime. :(

Well, obviously I am the only person within PDGA that even considers this place in the beautiful Appalachian mtns. a decent disc golf course.

I was out yesterday on Memorial Day and the course is looking mean...the rough has grown in thick and the fairways are tight, so you better keep an eye on it till it lands. Watch out for the poison ivy, it is like a blanket out there. Just to be safe wear long pants that are thin for protection if you are allergic.

I had an excellent round of 12 holes, because my son was with me. I actually hit the first ACE on the course (to my knowledge) on hole 12. That is the uphill, tight fairway between the big trees - 163 ft. I threw a champion cobra dead straight into the chains...no question! :-)

A friend and I are working on organizing a fundraising tournament out there in late August. I'll be working with the course designer on slight modifications to make the course more playable and challenging.

Give me a call anytime you want to meet out there for a round. (276)783-4321. By the way, hole 16 has been moved to its alternate position, so it is now 200+ rather than 60'.

Sept. 29th 10:00 - 5:00 @ Emory campus
We are going to have a casual 2 round tournament with at least 3 divisions. There will also be putting contest, CTP's, and great prizes! - $15 entry donation. All donations (tax decuctible) will go to the Upper Tennessee River Roundtable.

I'll post more details here later. Give me a call if you are interested in sponsoring a hole ($25).

Thanks
Justin

The charity fundraiser event was held at Warriors Path rather than this course.

I'm just putting this out there to see what is the best score so far. Today 1.6.08 I shot my personal best of 47 (-7) on this course. I have not talked with anyone that has shot a better score. It felt really good to finally put together a solid round on this frustrating little course. There will never be a way to determine a rating on this course since the owners aren't interested in hosting tournaments, but I guess that -7 is about 980 rated golf. I even missed a few of the holes I normally get like 7, 11, & 15.

Has anyone shot better than 47? Tim? Tic Tac?
