Well we have only been asked about a thousand times over the past 6 years.
Tonight we tried again to make the Demon in the "E" Evolution plastic.

Using some of the processing technologies we aquired back at a trade show in march we finally got a chance to prototype an additive that reduces the weight in the Urethane.
It worked like a charm and now we are running red, pink E demons from 168-175 :D:D:D:D:D:D:DE Illusuions by the end of the week!!!!!!!

Dr's reccomendation:
" take 2 E Demons and call me in couple of years":cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::c ool::cool:

Ran a few colors and flexibilities today, but it was raining and we couldnt really test them the eay we wanted.
there are a few different runs, one is pretty overstable and the other is less overstable.

The plastic is amost indestructable!!

Dave I already added these to the list...

Cant wait this should be the last gap for my bag now. I love the smaller diameter of the demon but the S plastic rips my hand up.

Hooooray for E demons (can I get a pink one?)

Awesome!!! My favorite disc in indestructible plastic!

I am excited but do have a couple questions. Are these fairly flat like Demons or domey like Scouts, or even worse, domey like H Scouts? Second, what batch of Demons would you compare them to, Protos, big engraving (first or second runs), G5i dot stamps, or the newer Demonhead FX's?

gdstour
Nov 19 2006, 11:03 PM
there were basically 3 runs of the E demons, some look just like G6i's( rounded but not too domey and puffy on the wing) which are not that hard to throw flat when new.
one of the other 2 runs is a bit domey as E does have H in the Blend,
the 3rd run is kind of soft and all 3 are CE TUFF!
all runs are pretty grippy.
I havent really had a chance to throw too many shots with any of them yet.

There are probably about 600, not all of them are full retail and some are already being sold as missed stamps or X outs in the 5 for 35 or 10 for $60 deals.

Similar to past runs of E illusions; trying to reduce the wight of urethane is not reccomened by one single manufacturer of that kind of material and some come out less than perfect cosmetically.

Here's a deal...

I work at a place that sells discs, we got about 235 or so in stock at any given time... And Im the point person as far as ordering, stocking etc. is concerned.

You throw me an E Demon, a Blazing Inferno, and Gateway shirt, and I will not only wear the shirt 2 days a week minimum (Gotta wash it sometime), but I will order in 50 of your discs the next time we re-up, which is a hell of a lot considering we mostly sell the 'i' word...

Deal or no deal, reading about your discs is intriguing, and truth be told im considering ordering some anyway, but with something to test I would at least be able to tell people about it.

Let me know if you think I'm insane, or maybe we could cut a different type of deal. - Brandon

I've been looking for something overstable and reliable, so I picked up 2 S and 2 E Demons. None of them are what I would call "reliably overstable" and I am quite dissapointed. The S ones were never overstable, in fact, they were pretty high speed understable. The E ones were not only "not reliably overstable", but the plastic got completely chewed up from throwing them in a field. I don't know what demons other people are throwing, but their reviews are nothing even close to what I saw. I guess I'll have to pick up some drones or whippets or something else.

These are all supposedly from one of the latest runs of demons. The S demons were blue, and the E demons were red and pink. The red one has the durability of wet cardboard.

I've had 3 Demons, each fly differently. One has a convex wing is VERY overstable. The other has a concave wing, and flies like a new Element-X, and the other has a convex wing and is very flippy. The Demon is one of my fav. midrange discs but it's hard to know which one I will be getting when I do find em.

I throw the pink E demons and have had the same one in the bag for almost 2 years now and its just now beginning to straighten up however it is still wicked overstable. The black S are the most stable for me.

Understandable, as I've seen on this forum that seems to be the case. But how could I get 4 demons and not a single one be "quite overstable"? And as far as the damage, I will take a picture when I get home. First time I ever threw it was in a soccer field and on the 2nd or 3rd throw it had a place where it looked like a rabid squirrel had gotten hold of it.

I myself would contact David McCormack at Gatway before swearing off Demons for good. I do not want to speak for him but, I would think that he would make it right for you instead of never buying one or a Gateway product again.

I have actually e-mailed him several times over the past year [edit: about many things, not just this issue] and not received a single response from him. I'm not swearing off Gateway, but I won't be buying any demons anymore. Other companies make reliably overstable discs to fill the same niche that I have heard no complaints about. But thank you Mark for your suggestions, I honestly appreciate it.

this is quite strange, David has ALWAYS gotten right back to me about several issues/questions.... hhmmm.

however, I've found Dave does like to toy with plastics/firmness/etc a lot so it doesnt surprise me that you are saying they all are different, in your case an exaggerated state of different.

as a FYI... if I ever have questions about discs or what run is this and that I call the manufacturer or someone at an online store like MarshallStreet, cuz MarshallStreet has pleasant speaking voices, and just talk to them. This is the lesser traveled route nowadays and it truly makes disc selection much easier. You ask, they tell you if they got it.. domey, stiff, soft, you name it, you'll get an opinion that usually helps. You know, or at least have a far better chance of knowing, exactly what you are going to get.

just my $.02

and as another FYI, 28003, I want a disc to fly the same everytime new as well. There is something to be said for consistency.

Call the shop. Dave is one of the busiest men I have ever met so it doesn't surprise me that he is slow to respond to your e-mails.

As far as your Demons, are you sure you are throwing them properly? Also are you sure that you understand Overstable and Understable?

You may be onto something there. I just pick them up with a full fist and wing it over my head like a shot-putt. Is that not what your supposed to do? That's how I was taught.

Also are you sure that you understand Overstable and Understable?

Now that you mention it.....I'm not so sure anymore. Could you explain to me what the terms "overstable" and "understable" mean in 500 words or more?

I've always had Dave e-mail me back -- usually within 24 hours and often at 1 or 2 a.m. -- he works crazy hours.

I don't know what the current demons are like, but I have a couple of old ones, one of which is stupid, stupid overstable. I spent several rounds throwing it as hard as I could at point-blank range into every tree and concrete teepad on the course, and it's still a piggishly overstable futhermucker of a disc. The thought of a flippy Demon just makes me laugh, as I've never even imagined such a thing. And the ones I have -- even after all that abuse -- hardly have a scratch on them. I've got cutting boards at home that are flimsier than my Demons.

And as for the discs that beat up in a field, I would love to see a picture of what you mean, as I simply can't imagine that. That sounds like a defect, and I'm 95% positive Dave would replace it for you if he were aware of it.

I wasn't trying to be an [censored] to the guy. I know a lot of people that don't know the difference Stable and Understable, so the question is not stupid. Its was just a question, but thanks anyway Matt for your critique.

It might have been better to say, "All the Demons that I have throw have been very overstable ie, hard turning to the left on a RHBH shot".
