I have had a question in the back of my mind for quite some time now.

I am a minister and am allowed to miss just 3 Sundays a year. This obviously does not work well with playing two day tourneys. I try to use two of my weekends each year to play PDGA tourneys.

What would the response be to a person registering for a tourney knowing that they could only play the first day? It would be an opportunity to get a few more rated rounds each year and I would like to support some of the NC tourneys with my registration fee.

I don't think it would be fair to potential players if I played in "full" tourney, but how would you respond to a guy only playing one day if the tourney was not full?

I think you should play when you can. If you can play Sat and not Sun, no problem. I wouldn't suggest taking a spot in a full event, but if it is not full, why not.

Play on Sat and spread the Word on Sun. Great Schedule. :D

Play in all the tourneys you want, just let the TD know after your last round Saturday that won't be back so he doesn't put you on a three-some card.

Don't worry about tourneys being full or not. Most tourneys really don't fill before two weeks ahead of time, and that's the breaks for the people that don't get registered in time.

My brother-in-law is also a Minister. He only gets 2 Sundays off a year. Because of that, he no longer plays any tournaments. (he has let his PDGA membership laps)

In Texas, there are several 1 day tournaments held on Saturdays. You need to check your area and just plan on making those.

But if you don't mind supporting the tournament and playing just the Saturday rounds. I had 2 players at my tournament that told me they were going to miss at least one round and they still showed up and played the others. (they still got the players package, got to throw for the Ace Pot, and if they played the 4th round, had a 1 in 5 chance for a $50+ CTP prize.

Get your church to sponsor the event.
Then convince them that you will be at work when you are playing it.

Seriously. I did it......at least the first part. ;)
