I'm trying to keep it as simple as possible...this map isn't meant to be your San Antonio tour guide, only enough to get you from one park to the other and back. If you want exact directions, get online and do your research, or check your player's packet for more info...which you can pick up @ *HQ*. As for the elementary entrance, there's only one school on Knoll Creek between Judson and O'Connor, so if you miss it, there's something wrong.

*unless you print it from here, you won't get this map til you've already checked in*

My family and I went to McClain this afternoon and it is **** near impossible to play. It is going to need a lot of mowing and cleaning up to make it playable. I'll be happy to help any way I can once there are work days scheduled. Just an FYI incase noone else has been there in a while...

That's right, HQ needs to be on there, too.

What, if anything, was decided at the LOSO meeting?

I just got off the phone with San Antonio Parks and Recreations about the grass at Brian McClain. I spoke with Chuck V. who is in charge of the mowing and he stated they are having problems because of the amount of rain we have been getting. They need it to dry up a little before they can go out there. I asked if we (Disc Golfers) could go out there and do it ourselves and he said we could not due to liability issues. :( I also asked if we could sign waivers freeing them from responsilbility. Again he said we could not. He did mention a Volunteer Program the City has that will allow us to use the city's equipment to get this job done with their help also. The guy's name is Dean F. and I have not contacted him as of yet but wanted to know who would be willing to do this before I call him just to give him an estimate of the number of people interested. Let me know if you would be able to help. Thanks.... :)

I had received an email from the city regarding the "reserving" process and unfortunately that is also right before my computer crashed and took all my email/pictures/video/music with it. I asked Alma with Parks and Rec to forward all our previous conversations to me again and she is looking into the matter. The Dean F. person is also in charge of helping with "community service" workers and may be able to get several people out for some organized clean up work as well. They are the people I work with when trying to organize work days with the city... as long as the big equipement is needed... it could probably be pulled off.

life has been hectic form me the last couple weeks and I apologize for not being available to at least help out.
on a positive note, my wife and I found out we are having a boy and it's due Oct 8th.

also, I have already cleared it with my wife and I am available for workdays every saturday in the month of June.

Course change announcement. I'm sure this will make many of you happy, many of you sad, and a few mad, but after a lot of thought and discussion, we have elected to substitute Universal City Park for Bryan McLain Park for this year's LOSO.

This should not be an indication that McLain Park is not a terrific disc golf course, but it is still new and needs a lot of work to get it tourney ready.

The staff at Universal City has always been very supportive of disc golf, and when I talked to them today they said we could use the park with no additional fees and it would be mowed and ready to go.

I would hope that in 2008, McLain will be in prime condition, and will be on a regular schedule for city course maintenance.

On another note, UC has added an additional course to their park master plan, so look for something in the works in the next 2 years.

p.s. There is a $20 bounty for beating my singles record of -14 at UC

Universal City Park for Bryan McLain Park for this year's LOSO.

At first, I thought I'd be bummed, but it's really for the best. You are right - McClain is a fantastic course, but not nearly ready for a large Tournament. By this time next year, through plenty of TLC and weekly minis [_Bird_] it should be more than ready for LOS08.

Hey girlie, just got word from LO and they said no on any individual food vendors... :( Sorry :( Health codes violations etc.. reason she said.. Unless they have it set up for Park day where they have a permit for all that then it would be fine...

just wanted to say thank you to all the five strokers that helped with course maintence, staffing, spotting, putting water out and everything else to make the loso run as smooth as it did despite the bad weather. BUT now we need someone to fix basket # 15 at UC that basket allows discs to fall out of the side through the basket. that piece of [censored] needs some chicken wire or something to make an X pattern on a few of the right side squares on the basket so this does not happen to anyone else. it was the only putt I made all day just to have it not count due to a CRAPPY AND FAULTY basket

losotd
Jul 09 2007, 09:11 PM
In the 2007 PDGA tour standards, PDGA approved targets are recommended, not required for "B" tiers.

That basket was not replaced by a portable as intended due to the flooding at Live Oak. We wanted to make sure we had enough portables available to keep players from playing flooded baskets.

One crappy basket out of 54 different baskets played cannot ruin anyone's tournament.

Thank you for finding a cloud in the silver lining.

And you can't forget....
CONGRATS for all of you who didn't cash! And CONGRATS for all the players who spent alot of time in the UC ditches, assulting fairway trees, tubbing putts, and just generally falling down, and finding every puddle, mudhole, and cactus patch on the course. :D:D
Even though I was one of these players, I had a great time. (Except the ditch part )
NICE JOB! :D

Non-cashers, the backbone of disc golf...too often overlooked. :D
