These press releases from the Texas Parks & Wildlife have a number of parks listed around the state that will be receiving money for future disc golf courses. Just click on either of the two press releases listed for 2004 or 2005.

Bastrop: Smithville Riverbend Park II (small community) The City of Smithville

Jackson: The Lavaca-Navidad River Authority Brackenridge Park (local park)

Williamson: Leander Benbrook Ranch Park (local park)

Cameron County: the City of Brownsville College Park/Fort Brown Park

Harris County: the Harris County MUD #120

Tarrant County: The City of Haslet Community Park located in the northwest area of the city

Hidalgo: Mario Leal (Municipal) Park II in Elsa (local park)

Hidalgo: La Villa Community Park II (local park)

Williamson: Williamson County Brushy Creek Regional Park II (regional park)

Travis County East Metropolitan Park southeast of Manor

The City of Progreso in Hidalgo County Progreso Community Park

The City of Dilly in Frio County Dilley City-School Community Park

Some of these courses may be completed recently others haven't even begun construction. If anyone has any information on the progress of these courses post it here or start a new post for each new course. Keep up the hard work Texas, pretty soon will have a course in every city!

I have word from the Concho Valley Dsic Golf Assoc. that there are similar plans to add disc golf to the State Park near San Angelo. Hopefully next year, but maybe the year after that.

Has anyone around the Austin area heard anything about this course:

Bastrop: Smithville Riverbend Park II (small community) The City of Smithville received $50,000 to further develop 46.1-acre Riverbend Park located in the north area of the city. Proposed development includes a 9-hole disc golf course, basketball/4-square court, soccer field, 0.18-mile trail, 4 horseshoe pits, playground and restroom renovations, kitchen, pavilion with 8 tables, interpretive signs, and fencing.

The City of Canton in Van Zandt County is to receive $400,000 in matching funds to acquire 80 acres of city-owned non-parkland to expand and further develop 25.3 acres of Old City Lake Park in the northwest area of the city to include a nature trail, 18-hole disc golf course and amphitheater.

The City of Kennedale in Tarrant County is to receive $400,000 to acquire 13.3 acres to further develop 38.3-acre City Park by adding a multipurpose trail, disc golf course, fishing pier and other facilities.
