I do need contact numbers for all the TDS. I would like to be able to list a website that will be promoting your event.

With the addition of Mohawk in the equation I would suggest that we have all the Double O at Mohawk. It has the best facilities for a weekend event. McClure and Dovillio are not as compatable to the Mohawk tracks so I think we should go back to the old days of the McClure Classic in the summer. Dovillio can be featured in the McClure Classic as it should be.

I thought Okie Dubs is always Labor Day weekend... Isn't Aug 25-26 the weekend before Labor Day weekend? We're getting married on Aug 25!!!
This is the ROUGH COPY ;)
I'm pretty sure that OKIE Dubs will want labor day, just ripping the dates from this year

The PDGA does not like my dates of March 31 and April 1 for the Duncan Lake Hillclimber. It is the same weekend of Texas State in Houston and they are worried that the DLHO would take from that event. I am reluctant but willing to move this event based on their request. The prior weekend is Am Doubles in Wimberley and the following weekend is Easter - both bad weekends. The PDGA is suggesting the weekend of the April 14 and 15.
Is that too close to ChandlerStock?
Back-to-Back weekends of some awesome camping fun!
Just looking for some opinions and input - is that too much or would that just make it more exciting?

Too close to chandler stock.
I really don't see how Houston would conflict with Duncan as they are almost 400 miles apart.
Hold your ground Jose`, let the players choose, don't sacrifice your date for a 400 mile spread. ;)

I think the thought is that Dallas is halfway between Duncan and Houston so we might take some of the Dallas players. Which I wish the DLHO was strong with Dallas players but traditionally it has not been. I think last year we were at maybe 4 to 5 players from that area.
I want to work with the PDGA if at all possible to make a date that will work for everyone - us Okies, Texans and the PDGA. I am not saying that unsanctioned is not a possibility but I would like to make it a last resort.

The PDGA should have had their NT schedules done a LONG time ago.
Its not that hard, determine how many NTs they want and where and pick the dates. If they would do that we would have crap like this coming up with 3 weeks left before the new year and schedule starts.

I agree, 400 miles apart and the PDGA recommends a different date? Sounds like the PDGA does not need the sanctioning fees anyway so screw em'.

The PDGA is trying to make the NT's bigger and better and Houston has had problems filling, so they feel like there shouldn't be any strong events coinciding with it.

They are on crack if they think Duncan is going to take players away from the Houston NT.
Rotan and Oilheiser were the only AM Okies in Houston last year...the only pros were You, CP and Coda. Do you really think NO DUNCAN is going to make a difference?
I'm just the messenger on this one...I agree with you guys that it won't effect but maybe 4 or 5 people, and those 4 or 5 people would probably choose H-Town over Duncan just because of the finacial gains of OKIES playing in Tejas. ;)
Duncan would survive just fine without Coda, Myself and a few others...it would probably thrive since the past winners would be gone ;)
I'll chat with Dave and see if we can make a comprimise

If it were the Dallas area I could see the reasoning...I just don't see how Duncan will effect the outcome of a Houston tournament.
I'm sure the PDGA has it's reasons...I will be curious to see how many okies show up for it.
I will contact Dave to see if we can come up with a solution...more info coming soon!!!

Just my two cents. I would have to take vacation on the weekend of Apr. 14th & 15th but March 31st & April 1st I am on my week off. That week fits perfect and the tick-chiggers shouldn't be as bad in early March. I would like everybody that could be here to get the chance without conflicting tournaments though. Just do whatever you think is best Jose'. This has been a problem every since I started the Hillclimber in 2000. There is just about always a tournament that conflicts with our schedule and we have to move it. I think it is just plain wrong that we can't have a set in stone date after the attendance numbers we have had in the last few years! They could just keep on coming up with new NT dates to drive the smaller tier tourneys into extinction. I know, I just mow and set up the course so why should I care, but the fact that we have been getting the high number of players down here and some top pros is the only reason I keep doing it. If the tournament starts declining much more I won't feel the need to spend hundreds of dollars and several days on mowing etc...... My wife would love nothing more than me to quit doing it but I like to see the tournament grow and grow. If you guys think the Hillclimber has lost its luster and is not a must play, let me know because I cannot afford to do much more than I do because the City of Duncan doesn't do anything that would cost them any money. So any improvements come straight out of my pocket. The City did okay the temp course becoming permanent if we buy all of the baskets and tee signs. Also, Jose' is the coolest guy I know to go so far out of his way and spend time away from his family and still be able to run this tournament so perfectly and never complain. I figure he does this for the same reason I do, to try and make this bigger and better every year. If the attendance starts declining because of other tournaments he might not want to fool with it anymore. Just my two or three cents. :p

Yo Johnny what is up?!? Hey dude the Hillclimber would not be where it is now if it were not for you and Jose. I'm not sure why D. Gentry recommended not sanctioning the Hillclimber, it's sooooo far away from Houston. You are right about attendance, it always seems to be over 100.

OLD SCHOOL,
Dave didn't suggest not sanctioning, that wouldn't be good for business. He wouldn't sanction it on that day because there can not be any other tournament B-Tier or higher with a certain mile radius.
Now here is the solution.
C-Tier Pros
B-Tier AMS
and the date stays the same. That should be an easy fix to our problem.

Dec 13 2006, 05:28 PM

It would be okay, but guess where the top pros are going? I shoudn't care but I always liked having a high number of both pros and ams. We always have a high number of ams which is great but if it weren't for A-tiers conflicting with us we might still be able to get more of the pros. I would just like to see this keep growing if I am going to keep putting money into it. If it is going to take improvements such as permanent tee pads and new baskets then donations will be needed. My wife would shoot me if I spent that kind of money.

I wish I would have relized that Dave G. was making those recommendations based on the fact that he thought I was wanting a full B-tier. When in fact my sanctioning agreement is asking for a C-Pro/B-Am event just like it has been the last two years.
I would have brought that up last week when these conversations started with Gentry. It is easy to miss becuase the agreement does not really have a column for a mixed tier event so you just have to "write" it in electronically, of course.
Big Thanks to the state coordinator for stepping right in and taking care of one of his TD's - Thanks Kev.
I am looking forward to 2007 DLHO on March 31st and April 1st.

We do need Sanders healthy BAD but I also think they need to set Gardner and Brackett and get somebody in there that won't arm tackle every time. I know June didn't tackle anybody either but at least he usually makes plays in the passing game. If we don't start stopping teams running game though they won't ever need to pass. I think Rob Morris can stop the run better than those guys. The Colts are driving me

May 5: Pauls Valley Flightline Open - B Tier - 1 day - Lots of added cash and prizes guaranteed by the City of Pauls Valley.
Oct. 6 & 7: Twin Oaks Open, Duncan, OK - B Tier - Promises to be bigger than last year and the golf course setup will be back with the addition of a permanent course on the property.

Sorry to announce.... Ben Geren Blowout will not happen in March this year, we hope to see it agin in March 08, WAFDA has been handed 2 incredible opportunities that deserve our full attention...
New course in Russellville
and...
an additional 9 basket layout to tie into Ben Geren's existing 18, it looks to be set up as a super simple beginner/kid friendly 9 hole course with super sick-twisted alternates for tourney layouts, not to forget that Alma's course is looking at some potentially major work also
We apologize for any scheduling screw-ups of anyone who is looking forward to this.
As a new organization we feel that planting baskets in the ground and introducing new people to disc golf far outweighs another tournament in a season with no shortages of tourneys to attend, this most likely would've happened even without the conflict between Green Country Doubles and the Blowout
Alma Greens is very much on track for June 30th as is Hell on the Border for August 11th & 12th

Feb 13 2007, 05:20 PM

We truly hope to have the new 9 in ASAP, and definitely before HOTB, We're extremely lucky, the park administrators came to us with the idea, they also said "draft a proposal", meaning that we gotta raise the funds, hence all the work, hopefully they'll let us renew the tee-sign ad's on the original 18 & then 9 more new would get us the moolah for baskets, just takes time which is what spurred the decision about the Bowout on the Blowout..........the park dept. has actually recieved complaints about Ben Geren being too hard, we want to make it even harder or at least have the alternate pins to do it with, the new 9 may help both sides of that

Evan is right about the importance of the work ahead. The new 9 will be totally beginner friendly with alternates making the 27 hole dream a monster.
There's a bathroom and concession stand in the new area as well making the course even more user friendly.
I can see it now,
Picnic tables with lil umbrellas,People skipping around blissfully whistling a tune of satisfaction and joy,
They can Ace a hole now,It's only 150 ft away.
Go Wise,Go Watson,Go Ganzel,Here's your chance.lol!!!

Greetings from Joplin, MO! Just wanted to let everyone know that The Second Annual Four States Open is on the PDGA schedule. Last year's event saw 95 people from mostly Missouri (although there were people from all of the "Four States"). Chandlerstock is now the same weekend as Hot Springs.
Hot Springs AR is hosting a 1 Day C Tier / So National Qualifyer.
Yup!!! Dual Sanctioned.
Anyway i'm kinda bummed,I had a good time last year at Chandlerstock. But what can I do.We have a huge push going on in Hot Springs.Alot of people are working on this event.
Ted Smethers will be our TD(Old farts know of this man.Hall of famer)Funny how they come out of the woodwork.
Hot Springs will put on a smokin little tournament. We have major sponsorship being targeted.Look for this Texan Designed course to be kickin major A in the future.
More on this later.

Too bad they're on the same week ends. :(
I wouldn't expect to see any Okies in that case. Chandler is just TOO good to pass up. And Scott plans on making it big this year. :D

I know I know.
What was I supposed to do?
See the problem here is(And what a problem to have)We Arkies are puttin them on the schedule. Now it's just the matter of keepin them there year after year.
NEW IDEA!!!
What would a Western Arkansas Eastern Oklahoma "SERIES"produce?
If the scheduling were sorted out(And it is for the most part) In 2008 we could see a 10 event series with a Championship tourney in the end.
Like So National we could take say $1.00 from each entry over the total number of events and use that for the finals.
We could make 5 of ours series events,You use 5 of yours.
WOW!!!

Sorry Tammy that Chandlerstock is the same weekend and the Texas Womans Championship. I know Mel was disappointed also. I can only tell you that for last few years Chanderstock has normally been held on Earthday weekend. Earthday this year is Sunday April 22nd. When I got those dates back in August I did not know about the TWC but even if I did I probably would have chosen the 21 & 22nd anyway just because of the recent tradition.
The park advertises Earthday to the public and a lot of the public will be out there on Sunday picking up trash in the morning. I think it is good for DG that they see us there playing DG and picking up trash as we go. Thats why I'm including a trash bag with all players packs.
I've got many things planned and a flyer will be out soon but I just want the women to know that I'm sorry I made them have to chose. :(....I understand my non-sanctioned event will probably lack the luster and payout of the TWC but I will try and make it as fun and laid-back as it has been in the past, along with a new twist here and there. ;)....I hope you chose to come but it you don't,......don't worry. I'll just knaw your leg off the next time I see you.;) :D j/k

Why do you say "Chandlerstock is now the same weekend" as if I came in at the last minute and dumped it on top of Hot Springs???....It's been basically the same weekend for as far as I can remember. I don't know if Kevin is giving State Coodinator lessons or not but maybe he can make a "State Coodinator 101" DVD and send it to you. :o:D...j/k
Here's a clue for next year. Chandlerstock....Same Bat-time!!!...Same Bat-channel!!!! :D
You don't want to be here anyway if Twoputt is here do ya??? ;)

Hey Tom, I may be at Hot Springs...although I don't see it on the schedule...I have to get back into Southern Nats and it may be the best chance to get qualified this year.
Southern Nationals is the best series out there right now. It's good you guys have got on that band-waggon

I thought Vinnie normally did TWC the last weekend in April- again bummer to have to choose. And my poor hubby won't get to play at all- because if I go to TWC, he has to keep the kid! I am still trying to decide! You don't make it an easy choice! :)
I had a blast last year- and there was a great women's turn out! If any ladies aren't making the trip to TX- don't miss Chandlerstock!

WOW!
Another SC seeing things a little diffrently.I guess you've been reading the SC & PC thread on yahoo.
Yes SN is a good series. My only problem was the communication gap.I think it's being worked on.If the PDGA doesn't get on the ball things are gonna change round here real quick.
Scott I was aware of Chandler,It's been on my personal schedule of events to hit for 07 for a few months now.
My problem was the So National not posting a tourney 3 months ago when they were asked to do it by our guy in Jonesboro AR.
It was going to be the 28th(Because of Chandler)
We we're going to loose the TD if we didn't change the date.(We don't want to loose this guy.(Ted Smethers)His loyalty to Uncle Bob goes way back.Having it on the 28th would have meant I was going to run it.Man i'm walking a thin line as it is.

May 5 Flightline Open in Pauls Valley is also a SN qualifier and a "B" Tier. The cut-off for SN points is the end of May each year, so if you want to get to Mobile in 2007, here is another opportunity to get some points.
The SN boys know how to run a great event, that is why for the last 3 years every event I have run has been an SN qualifier.. :D:D

I know there's a 1 Day event on this date already but if anyone has the time and could make it to Ft Smith then go to Western Arkansas club site and check out the Cumulus Radio Tournament Post.
This can and will affect us all if it's done right.
ANY volunteers will be appreciated AND I NEED to borrow 9 matching baskets for a short layout for the kids.
This company has 4 stations here in Ft Smith and access to "TONS" of sponsorship.
See where i'm going with this ?
So please if you can help let us know.
BIG BIG BIG !!!
I'm trying to get them to give away a car or something like that.
We could see a thousand roll thru if we do this right.
There will be TWO charities benefiting as well.
Radio AND TV will be there.
Did I say BIG BIG BIG already ?
Thanks all
Pitch.

Talked to Tom today and he said Pauls Valley has allready added $750 to the Open purse and a donation of one hundred dollars has happend, so it looks like this might have a decent payout.
