Thats the messed up part. We were promised that we wer third in line...La Mirada, Oregon, and then us. I know you guys are just getting in....it was supposed to be our year this year if Snapper kept his word.

Quick question...

What's the format for this event? Match play, stroke play, or maybe a combination of both. Also, at Texas Teams, there is a player structure:

2 Open
1 Pro Master
2 ADV
2 INT
1 FAM
1 Swing Player (ie ADV Master, Pro Grandmaster, Pro Woman).

Is there such a structure with this event or do you send the area's best players (by the look of the combined player ratings, I'm assuming the latter).

I've always thought there should be a national team event...Talk about bragging rights!

The team is 7 open, 3 masters, 1 GM, 1 Woman.

12 Hole matches, head to head match play. Each match your team is playing a different team. Each team plays each other once. #1 player vs. #1 player, #2 player vs.#2 player, and so on. Team wins is what counts in the end. Ties broken by total points earned by individuals.

The first match of 6|9 v. 5o3 will be fun...

I just read this on the team tourney page.It is talking about how the teams are supposed to be set up with regards to tourney rules and "spirit of the event". I have a problem with something he said in there only because im mad about not being invited this year (looks like were not getting in next year, either).

" What if a team came up short a few players could they fill in with SD players...that was OK for years until a few years ago when 3 SD players played for LV and because they won all their matches they knocked out SB (last 2 years straight)."

I just find this really funny because we (Las Vegas) were in fact the ones eliminated by SB. We also only had one SD player on our team (Meghan Stroh). We tied overall and were eliminated by points. SD player won no points. We only had 14 points won by the team in the entire event Scott Austin6-1, I was 6-1 and we won 4 tie half . Now Snapper is making stuff up to back up not letting Vegas back in.

And yes, I am bitter about it. It is one of the funnest events in the west. I hope he responds to my e-mail i just sent him. I really want to hear what he has to say.

If you are looking for half of Team Oregon, they are gonna be a little late. Tom Embree's van broke down about 5 miles from my house. Luckily he had my # and I went and picked up Tom, Lane, Andrew(and his mom), and Buck. They rented a car this morning and should be in town real soon if not there already. Tom's van is in my driveway in case anybody needs some rims! Good luck to everyone there.

Oh ya, if you see the Oregon boys, tell them thanks for the present they left me! :cool:

Fun Tournament, got smoked bigtime!
not a huge fan of the course considering there is more than enough"luck" holes.

Thanks to Alex Torriente, for handing it to me, and teaching me to say many swear words (and sentances) in Spanish.

Las Vegas would love to participate in the Team tournament again, and have been told for years we are next on the list.

We aren't sure what we did to cause us to become listed in the black book. I just thought SoCal is afraid of Las Vegas's recent talent!!!

I am unsure of who is next. I personally think that the challenge is the funnest event I have ever played. As a member of the Santa Barbara Team(thanks Billy)that was creamed over and over, I would also really like to get back in for a shot. We discussed becoming central coast or central cal. I do think that rotating out the bottom team is the right thing to do. I did have the pleasure of seeing L.V.'s lower seeded player crush everyone in my slot a few years ago. I think I was The #4 and he probably should have been in the #1or 2. I was honored to witness the crushing he issued. Hope to see it again.

No team is afraid of any other team, but I suggest that Las Vegas and Arizona merge teams and call it the Desert team. That would make them a bit more solid and competitive.

I think that letting Vegas in with AZ is a great idea. It would probably help out both teams competiveness.

I dont know about powerhouse, but definitley a better chance to do well as a team. Congrats on SD keeping the title at Morley!

I just gotta say that this year may have been the most fun team tournament I have played, and I've played my share.

The weather was as good as it gets, all my opponents represented the spirit of the event to a tee, and the level of competition was great.

This tournament is a big deal to many of the San Diego local players, some of which rarely play anywhere but Morley Field. Being able to host a group of players of this caliber at our home course happens only once a year and the head-to-head format of this event spices it up even more.

Thanks to all who made the effort to attend including Mike D, Jeff, Gary, Matt, Josh, and a special thanks to my "traveling partner" Stan from Santa Cruz, whose great attitiude made every round a pleasure.

And of course, Mike "Magilla", who I played in the finals. We duked it out with our match tied at 3-3 for 6 holes going into our last hole, both of us making some clutch shots to stay tied. Only through a miracle shot was the match decided. Mike you are a great sport and it was some of the funnest (and most intense) golf I've played in a while.

Congratulations to Team Oregon for a strong showing. Given that it was the first appearance for much of your team, I have to say you are a team to be feared next year.

And thanks to the volunteers and Snapper for the use of the course.

Yeah and throw Milldog in there from Utah with a few others and will be unbeatable. I have taken down Carlos a few years back when I played for AZ. Avery and Dave would be a challenge, but will just get them super drunk the night before...It is a very challenging but super fun event, I miss playing with my buds from AZ every December and maybe next year I will show up as guest member of team AZ...

That's true. Both La Mirada and Arizona were tied.

All Teams that played this year , will play next year as well.
