I have been wanting to get out there for a while. I played Mace's thing there when the course opened but the course was very raw and in no shape to be played on yet. There was a lot of potential out there. I am curious as to how it turned out.

Hopefully it's still there. I know Steve and Stick were having a bunch of problems with vandalism in the park. It was very strange stuff too, don't steal the basket, just cut the pan into 50 pieces with bolt cutters and so on

I think there may be 14 or so buckets out there...Duke may know more facts, but you would need a guide or his map
Good course..wrong place in town

There were 14 basket sin the ground last weekend. The ones on top of the hill are the ones that are pulled right now. SO holes 1-11 & 16-18 are in the ground.
There is a problem with how google maps with over 100 points are displayed in MSIE, so you need to use netscape or firefox to view the map (http://www.lsdga.com/maptest.html) .
I've never had any problems out there, but the neighborhood does look kind of rough.
Tried to play the course for the first time today, alone. What a mistake :( . Finding the tees wasn't such a problem (at first), but figuring out where the baskets were wasted 5-10 minutes per hole. Very overgrown in all fairways, with sticker vines and spider webs throughout. Made it through 11 or 12 in about 2 hours, then got completely lost in the forest looking for the rest of the baskets, and ended up retracing my steps back out of the woods and walking over to 17 basket (which I had seen earlier in the round) and attempting to play 18, but could not find its basket either. All in all, it was a great waste of time, but hopefully the course can be improved and worth playing in the next few years (although doubtful). Oh well.

Crawford is not yet signed and is not a good course to play cold.
Due to the bridge work that is being done by the parks dept, we have been asked to temporarily move the course to the other side of the park. We will be accessing the course from the parking lot on Elam and using the high sandy side of the park. There should be less elevation and weeds for a while.

Gary,
I went out there back in April on my lunch hour (Crawford is < 2 mi from my job), and even with my familiarity with the course, I had problems. Granted, my familiarity with the back 9 is limited, and that is what caused my problem. Even with bypassing the blocked bridge, I still had a difficult time in locating some holes on the back.
From what you said above, it reads like the front 9 is going to be moved. Is that true? It is easily accessible from Prarie Creek, with no bridge work in site.
If you are talking about the back 9 that makes more sense, but I don't get the "accessing from Elam" part, unless there are going to be 2 disconnected 9 hole courses.
One more thing. I've had a difficult time locating a course map. could you please give me a url or link?
thanks

The full 18 is going to the north-west part of the park until the bridge and drainage re-work is complete. I haven't had a chance to get out with Steve, but the access will be from the parking lots on Elam and the course will be in the clearer areas on the high ground above the creek.
