i am wondering about the stabilities of these discs in the different plastics. i have some experience with the wraiths [mostly dx] and the dx teerex. as far as wraiths go, most [over]stable to least, i would rate them as:
star
dx
champ
pro? i am guessing they are least stable, i have not thrown one
the dx teerex flew exactly like a dx wraith for me.
where does the star teerex fit in? thanks

I've had a Star Wraith for almost a year now. I bought a Star TeeRex a couple months ago and it is already flipping more than the Wraith. It started out more overstable by a good amount but it beat in very quickly. I do think that it comes out of the turn faster than a Wraith even though it turns more. If I get that Wraith turned over at all, it won't come back. The Rex will.

To let you know where I'm coming from: 440ish max distance, semi-consistent with 400 foot throws backhand.
Now my experience with the discs...
Wraith - Flips less than a TeeRex at high speeds, but also has less low speed fade. Good for long shots that turn over slightly and hold it on a long glide.
TeeRex - Flips more at high speeds, but fades back hard. Better for shots on a hyzer angle, or when you want to take a little bit off and throw straight with a good amount of low speed fade.

Those new dx discs a real stable and hard to compare to brand new, The star tee rex is not genrally an overstable disc, but some are. The comparisons to faster tee bird are true, which makes a star tee rex stable but not overstable for big arms. So I would put it right under those dx discs.

teerex is not too stable, it will flip into the wind becuase it has no stabiliers (notch/bead)
I think the CFR wraiths are less stable than the pros new. my progression would be Star, DX, Pro, CFR. When the DX breaks in alittle it is the longest, the pro is the longest out of the box.

sounds like the wraith is more teebird-like than the teerex. my limited experience with them would confirm this. my fave is the dx teerex, then the dx wraith.

the Teerex-X (there is one right, w/ a notch in the wing?) would be the most teebird like between the two.
Howevre neither of them have rim stabilizers.
if you are looking for the longer faster teebird, the StarfireX molds is the one, (Star Starfire) I am just waiting for them to release that one in DX or even pro. I think they will break in similar to how teebirds break in, but be better on a low line.

All my Wraiths (Star and Champ) are more stable than my TeeRex. So far the TeeRex is a disappointment for me. I'm liking the Max though. The disc I really want is a Wraith that is flat like a Flick. I think I could stop searching for the perfect forehand driver if such a disc existed.

How many T-Rex's have you tried? Mine is definetly more overstable than any Wraith I have thrown.

Have you tried a Champ Starfire? (not the SL)

Three different discs, all at or near max weight.

TeeRex is getting a retool to be more consistently overstable than the Wraith according to Dave D.

Yeah, I have some of the original TeeRexes and they are ridiculously overstable -- then I picked up a few at the SF Safari and Norcal finals -- and these newer TeeRexes are more like broken in Wraiths or SLs. I wrote to Dave D. and he said he's aware of the problem and that they are seeking to find a solution. So hopefully the next batch of TeeRexes will actually be TeeRexes.
Rich, if I see you this weekend (Stockton/Modesto) I'll let you check out the original TeeRex I've got in my bag.

I have had a very weird experience with the TeeRex. Both of them that i've thrown started out extremely overstable. After a few weeks of throwing the the inner part of the disc has changed colors to make a dark circle. Both have been a yellowish green color. When the change of color took place the disc became stable to understable instead of overstable. Neither had taken any hard hits to objects.

I've been throwing a blue (standard stamp) TeeRex for about a month. It still flies straight, and fades hard. I would say it flies exactly like I expected it to fly. I also throw Wraiths and they definately fade less than my TRex. Both are working great for me. :D

So Rich -- after watching your release and knowing how much snap you put on those forehand throws -- have you considered trying out some of those Gateway discs? Spirit and Speed Demon are both pretty overstable.

How stable is the Dx TeeRex ?
OVER Stable......How much...depends on the Disc/Weight.
Of the 200 I bought..
Yellows and Oranges were MAX weight and "Flatter" than ALL others...
Blues were 170-172 & XTRA Domey....VERY Overstable (Its my "Old School" Whippet, if I close my eyes. ;))
Reds were also 170-172 but in between the Blues & Yellow/Orange in the dome.
These I like best....VERY reliable...more so than my STAR TRex....
They also work VERY well as Thumbers.. :)
