No date has been set for the 2007 Live Oak Summer Open, but I am considering changing the format to a B tier am for Saturday and an A tier Pro for Sunday. Similar to what the Texas 10 final has been each year. We'd probably play two rounds of 21 both days so I could accomadate close to 200 players each day. One of the plusses for me is I might actually get to play Sunday! So here is a poll as I'm curious as to your opinions on the matter. Please feel free to offer any written opinion as well. Cheers.

That's a good question, higher entry fees could mean greater payout and last year's entry fees were per PDGA standards. Would lower entry fees mean greater participation though? More players means more fun! I'm sure I'll have $500 plus added cash to pro divisions. Last year we had a little over $1,300 added cash.
One of the reasons I am considering the am/pro split is the possibility that I can get USAA as a title sponsor. But USAA caters to military families, and I would need to create a "military" division to draw those folks in. The military division would be separate and apart from any sanctioned portion of the tourney on Saturday, and they would probably only play one round of 18 in the morning, with awards at lunch.

I understand where you're coming from Brian, but I don't like this idea at all from the players perspective.
The one thing I never liked about Chris' finals was the 1-day thing with a two-day price, especially on the Pro side. In reality, 2 rounds is a long mini. However, since he had the tour as all 1-day events it worked out alright. Having a standalone event split like that doesn't make sense IMO. Neither group is going to spectate the other day (e.g., if you're trying to impress a sponsor and/or the city) and you'd hurt turnout from places like DFW/OK.
If you do go this route, keep it a full B-tier. A-tiers IMO should be 2 days, 63 holes minimum.
And if you get 100 on Sunday under this format, you wouldn't be playing anyway. :)
EDIT: Posted this before I read the USAA bit. That definitely makes it a more interesting decision. Very cool opportunity to tie into.

B, you might be able to run it as an XB tier to allow you to create the military division. I'd check with David Gentry to make sure.
I'd like to see LOSO stay a 2 day tournament. Maybe Pellman could TD with you as player / asst. TD.

Brian whatever you feel is best for you as a TD is alright with me :DI will have a little cash for the operating exspenses you incounter :D
Would the military part be an addition to the Civilian/Military Tournament?

Personally I like the 1-day format for two reasons:
a) When you have a family and a life outside of DG, it's easier to attend a 1-day than a 2-day
b) Us old guys need a day of rest afterward!! :D

LOPAR, I got the idea from Lisle who works at USAA. We could certainly entertain combining them, but I think you would lose the flavor of the tournament where you have disc golf escorts for them. Unless we had enough open players willing to come in on Saturday and do that it probably would not work.
But you raise a good point I hadn't thought of... would the military newbies, most of which have never thrown a golf disc, be able to play without some assistance? That might throw a wrench into the USAA sponsorship idea.

one of the reasons I play the B-tier is because it is a two day tourney, on the other hand you are the TD and what ever makes it easier for you. Also should the entry fee come down if this is a one day event?

I would imagine entry fees will come down if I do this. Not decided. The poll is 18 to 12 so far ( i voted twice, since I check from different pc's.) I may poll the e-mail group as well.
What would y'all think about changing LOSO to a bring your own partner doubles tourney since we are losing Pro World Dubs to Wisconsin next year? Most of us will only make Texas State Dubs at Dripping Springs, and I know I like playing that format twice. I always have way more fun playing dubs than singles since I can't putt! :D

I like the Dub's idea. That way you can blame somebody else for you poor play. :D
But really I like the idea. :D
