Price for an ace just went up... Maybe the group splits the cost?

Let me spin this off a little...

What is the most you have ever seen a person get paid via the $5 club for an ace?

Years ago we played a 9 man wolf winter round at Cass Benton and Gale Vaughn aced hole 7. He instantly collected $40 as all 8 of us paid on the spot.

I'm sure he would've gladly taken 8 cases instead!

In golf, the guy who hit the hole in one buys the drinks. Hello?

Oct 11 2006, 03:55 PM
I think I know why u r confused. You guys were playing 51.
five for the ace ( 8 people @ 5 bucks = 40 bucks of the guy who hit the ace ) 1 dollar for metal. Here in Texas when any golfer hits an ACE POT , it is the norm for him to buy a case of ace beer for everybody to share in honor of his ace. I think the guys u were playing with did not have an ace pot to shoot @ .

I saw Jeff Lozowsky hit hole 16 original at Hudson Mills for a $40 ace pool, and there were about 12 people in the group for another $60 or so. He also got the dirty dollas for that hole. But sometimes he brings a mini-keg of Oberon to league, so I enjoyed paying him back with $7.

In all my years of playing this wonderful game, I have never seen 4, let alone 8 golfers payout 51 on the spot. I have to keep a little black book for outstanding debts. I also hired "Guido's Knee Wrecking Service" for those golfers who refuse to pay. ;)

good point!
Broke @$$ discgolfers . Get a job, then quit your job and play disc golf!

"51 doesn't mean you pay, it means you make a promise to pay...sometime...in the future..."

(I've always paid. Hell, I (and others) paid Neal and Shannon a buck each for the $30,000 shot.)

I didn't! But then again I wasn't participating in the contest or I would have. :D

The most payout Ive ever been a part of was $35 all paid on the spot for a roller ace I had in Berkeley. I was just glad to have 7 witnesses to a roller that jumped off a rock, over a creek, and into the basket. Good karma followed most of the group. Three of them aced on me in the following month, including our esteemed State Coordinator Mr. Neil who got his first ace in I believe 27 years.

It pays to pay. ;)

What if the golfer is not of age to drink beer what does he get then, I dont think giving away a case of beer in tournament play is cool, specialy at the USDGC. It could send the wrong message to people.

I still dont think you guys grasp the concept. The ace beer is for everybody to enjoy. Compliments of the individual that hit the ace. It is a privelage to have somebody witness an ace, rewards for their presence have some merrit. Ever hit an ace by yourself, it sucks! Everybody assumes that you " could " be full of shite!

I have hit several aces by myself, and I must admit, it is a very hollow feeling.

At a weekly tournament the entire field was sitting around watching a playoff (hole 1) and the guy hit an ace. I don't know the exact amount but it was certainly more than $50.

Verry hollow indeed!
One of my CLOSEST friends hit 4 in one week , by himself.
I still think he is full of it, but I believe him, i guess.

See , I made my own point!

Not if you're Cubby!

He's got 140 aces in his career (5 lefty!), and has gotten to the point where he films his aces during his rounds..

Oh just because you were practicing and threw 43 discs on your dirve, that does not count as an ace ;)

Right, I was on a hole, ~345ft. Threw a Teebird, and overshot the hole (it was slightly downhill), figured a Wasp would be perfect disc for the hole. Launched the Wasp, skipped about 15ft in front/right of the basket, and landed smack in the middle of the chains.

I felt like I cheated, but it was a practice round anyway.

I played with this guy Billy Richards and he aced a hole during the round.

After the round , I was throwing hole 2 as he was walking by and I said "Now I'll get an Ace" , threw the shot while he watched , I turned towards him and shook my head and sure enough it aced. What the ..............

I shook my head and said it didn't count now !!!!!

Dohhhhhhhhhh !!!!!! :(

I know , I shouldn't be bummed about getting a called Ace. ;)

Yes, you are wrong. Unless you agree to pay the group when you miss.
