For pure distance throwing...I would say the XS.
I second the flash, at least that's my longest driver.

My longest throws have been with a 167 beat z flash. My longest CONSISTANT distance has been with a Surge or a Pulse (or a Tsunami, if you count that as discraft). As far as the flash goes, I have to hyzer flip it to get it to go straight or S, anything flat or anny is either a long right turn or a roller. I use this disc for long drives with hazard on the left, long drives up hill, and any situation where being right is better than left. And rollers....

I wonder if Tyler Horne is going to make it out there...
He throws DCraft pretty far...

I should give Tyler a call. I bet he can throw his challenger that far!!! :)

you have to remember that max d competition distance is different than golf distance. Stability, Speed and plastic play a much different role. Surges and such discs dont have much a chance because they are too fast so they fade at a higher speed. The plastic makes a difference in air resistance (why the valk thats a record holder is DX, its rare that a Z, champ or whatever breaks 600') My bet is a X avenger (they fade later than alot of high speed drivers) X or Pro D XS...

the flash is one disc that was really made for premium plastic, and I think it has a good chance also...

There is 3 weeks before this event, who of the Big Arms are going to this? This is one big amount of money and you do not even have to put the disc in the basket. Who wants to win $10,000?

Pad,
Is there a list of players that are signed up for the big D event?
Is there an entry fee?
Is there a reason this event is being held at the same time as USDGC?

And it would make sense to hold the event when a bunch of the international disc golfers are already going to be here

i think the entry fee is $20. I dont know what the reasoning to have it on a Mon. and Tues. especially right after the US. I know Ill be there and Max said Nate Doss was going to be there. He also mentioned Sandstrom. I bet the turnout wont be too stellar ( not unusual for this event). If it wasnt so close to my house, I would never be able to make it.

Innova should have true distance contest after USDGC.
These dry lake bed thermal-updraft jet stream contests have ruined the distance record as now it can only be broken at one place in the world.
I'm sure its fun to throw there but,,,,,,??????
I would be willing to bet a million dollars ( if I had it) That NO ONE can throw over 800 feet in Missouri or anywhere else near sea level.
This record should have a BIG asterick by it.
Is there a way to get each states current record for Distance?
This seems worth keeping better track of and records that can be broken.
I would like to see a national distance tour going from State to State establishing records for each state.

USDGC distance contest is not a distance contest at all.
It is a contest to see who can consistently throw a certain distance or longer

I think that's why he said that they should have a "true" distance contest.

I agree that the distances achieved at El Mirage on the past had alot to do with conditions. When I threw 171 M, I was avearging just over 130 M in practice for a couple weeks prior. The huge unblocked wind and the 3500 ft. elev. has something to do with it (I have no idea about thermal up-drafts). I threw about 100 ft further than normal.
Maybe there should be a seperate record for Distance with controlled conditions (Indoor/Flat Calm). Or maybe, add an element of accuracy like the do for the Re/Max LDA World Championships. Ive seen a ball golfer drive it 410 yards in certain conditions. same thing, IMO, as a 820 ft. disc golf drive.

Ummm. Its Monday & Tuesday......
With USDGC finishing Sat. Players have to fly across the country on Sunday to get there. :p
I know of at least 2 "World Class" players that will not attend because of the conflict :(
Maybe if it were delayed another day or 2 it would be easier for all ;)

There is an indoor distance record. Dan Berman of Florida holds it. Check out www.wfdf.org (http://www.wfdf.org) for all the world distance records

is there somewhere to see results and what discs were thrown? and as long as we're on the subject, is it true that all the participants in the usdgc distance comp had to throw pro wraiths? could someone elaborate?

The Wraiths were only for the exhibition throws over the water just before awards, but not required for the actual competition.
