Anyone had a chance to throw it...seems like an ESP Buzz with a touch of MRV to it.....

I threw one of the Z torqs that Todd White had. That thing felt like an Otario Roc in Z plastic, it was sweet. ANY idea when those are coming out? Anyone? I thought the Z plastic felt better than the esp to me.

We'll have them in on Monday. Pre-Order (http://www.sunkingdiscs.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=S&Product_Code=3127-ESPTQ) them now to save a couple of buck$.

Huh, Buzzz? MRV????? I could never compare those discs to the Torq.
I would say MRX, Wasp.
I would say it is a faster Wasp with more glide.
I am guessing I need to put mine up on the shelf since it actually says Torq, and not Torque?

My initial impression of this disc is a favorable one. If you throw it level with a little pop it will fly very straight before slowly hyzering out at the end. With that said, it does have some of the same flight characteristics as the ESP Buzzz, but becomes more WASP-like at the end of it's flight. I'm looking forward to experimenting with it more to see if it can find a place in my bag.

I was hoping it would be more overstable. I doubt it will make the cut. I already have Rocs and a Wasp for stable midrange.

Production Stoppage Turns Torque Into Collectible
October 31, 2006
Disc Sports manufacturer Discraft announced today an immediate halt to production of its latest disc golf midrange model, the Torque. The resulting limited numbers of these discs has already generated trading interest from disc collectors, many of whom highly value rare discs.
"We simply couldn't get a consistent production run for the Torque," said Discraft president and lead disc designer Jim Kenner. "Our customers put a high value on the dependable consistency of our discs. For example, a new Cyclone driver purchased today will fly exactly like a new Cyclone that was bought in 1998. We weren't satisfied with the dependability of the Torque's flight characteristics, so we made the decision to pull the plug. It happens sometimes, but it's worth taking a hit on this disc to preserve our reputation in the marketplace."
Released in early October, the originally produced Torques were pegged with a stability rating of 2.0, an indication of overstable flight for the average player. As production increased, players and testers were reporting that many Torques were not performing to their targeted stability.
Approximately 1600 Torques were produced and released, all in the ESP line of plastic. Some of these were custom stamped, but most have the stock Torque hot stamp. Rarest of all is the Torque stamped for the US Amateur Nationals, which includes an Am Nats logo and an early spelling of the name as "Torq". Only 200 of these discs exist and are in circulation.
The Torque will continue to be available from retailers until those supplies have been exhausted. Look for remainders from collectible traders as found on Ebay and similar sites.

Sniff.
:(
Oh well, guess it is going into a plastic bag now. Glad I have one of the rarest ones out there. Baggerdom did have it's benefits. HA!

The door is open for conspiracy theorists...Let me be the first to say that this doesn't make total sense. Consistency is not something that any of our manufacturer's of plastic can really claim, and Discraft is no exception. The FLash has been notoriously variable since it came out. The Breeze varies wildly, as does the Z Surge. I threw the blue and red Torques and they were pretty similar. Why wouldn't Discraft keep working on it? All that effort just to scrap it? Our manufacturer's wouldn't do anything on purpose to inflate the value of their products, would they?

Yeah I am really saddened about this. The Torque was quickly becoming my go-to disc. Until I broke my ankle. I could have had 6 more weeks throwing it, but now there is no point.
Plus in all reality, Discraft has been known for their consistency. Not everyone is perfect, but when you look across the benchmarks, they are consistent.

O.k., this is the truth. Erich told me so when I called to make sure the Chainstars made it back to Discraft safely.
Pad Timmons is a space alien. He's using telepathic mind control on Jim Kenner. They produced the Torque thinking they were making a golf disc. Actually it is an integral part of the anti-graviton displacement array, without which Pad will never get off this planet. Pad only needed about 100 of them, and he is not allowed under Galactic Law to introduce new technologies here in his efforts to repair his ship and get out of here.
I would not be looking for a future release of a limited edition Torque. I'd be looking for Pad's ship in the skies.

would producing it in Z plastic help the inconsistantcy issues? or would it be just like the flash and crush where the color had a lot to deal with the stability?
I was really hoping to get one to take the place of my drone. My drone now flies like a slightly broken in roc and my gator is too overstable....

Don't get hung up on the word "consistency". That isn't the true reason they're scrapping this disc as far as I can tell. The reason it's getting the axe is because the disc is not performing in the way it was intended in too many instances.

That makes more sense. I liked it when I threw it. Then again, I throw the Breeze, Buzz, and Wasp, and it didn't really have a place among those. I guess the one I have will stay in plastic unthrown.

I think that they should keep it even if it is not what they expected. I think that it is just like a tooled in KC pro roc.
Champaign is not what it was supposed to be but that is still around.

I loved it, and I throw the Buzzz and Wasp. Slowly I have been gravitating towards a fully Discraft bag. However, there has been one Innova disc that I could not find a replacement for, and that was the TeeBird. I tried the Talon, and the Reaper, both great but not the same. The Torque was going to replace my Teebird. The very first throw I ever had with the Torq it flew about 380-390ft. It was awesome. But again, I must of had one of the "good" ones.
Oh well. You win some, you lose some.
