*Details of Discraft $10,000 Big D Bounty
The following two conditions must be met for a player to be awarded the Discraft Big D Bounty:
1) Player must have the longest official throw of the 2006 Big D in the Desert competition, and that same throw must be deemed under WFDF rules to be an unqualified and official new world distance record.
2) Player must fulfill the above conditions using an official Discraft disc.
Money talks. Time to figure out how to add 300+ feet. :D

Im not entering but why does it have to be a discraft disc- not really fair to Innova and Gateway throwers if you ask me.I am going to lmao if someone from Gateway or Innova beat the record with a Discraft disc.Nice attempt by Discraft to keep the money in-house though. :D:D

You don't have to throw a Discraft disc to win the event, or get the world record.....but if you do.....$10G's richer.

It's very interesting.
Innova is going to have to do something in response for their team members.

thats still shady
how is that shady?
Shady is when at USDGC Innova hands you discs to throw across the water in the finals of distance.
All Discraft is saying is if you choose to throw a discraft disc and set the world record, we have a bonus for you for setting it with a discraft disc.

Sounds fair....not much of a gamble of losing your money....forcing someone to throw Discraft :p
The record WILL fall AGAIN...Its whatever Christain throws that will matter.. :D
He could do it though....set the record with a Discraft disc then SHATTER it AGAIN with what he REALLY wants to throw....
OR would you backout because the record isnt KEPT by Discraft

Per WFDF
250.00 m Christian Sandstrom (SWE) 4/26/02 El Mirage, CA
Not sure of the disc, but when I saw him throw distance, he was throwing DX Valks

That is why Discraft is putting its money out there.
That $10,000 would be a good investment if the record is broken, in the meantime, it is good PR.

How much is a sponsorship package really worth, from Innova or Discraft? I have no idea, but $10k is a big chunk o' change all at once.
It seems like members of Team Champion should be offered something like $2500-$7500 for breaking the record with Innova plastic, just to keep them throwing Innova in the competition.

I just saw Ken Jarvis the other day in San Diego. He is no longer sponsored by Innova so he can throw whatever he wants. Also I'm pretty sure that he has the ability to break the record. I don't know if he has any plans to go out there or not, however.
Too bad I'm going to be in Oregon during this, it seems like it might be fun.

You have to be joking right. What a great marketing idea. Well done to those that had the guts to do it.
In my mind if the World Record is broken with a Discraft disc and they pay out the $10,000 well done all round. The marketing opportunities will be well worth the money.
On Sunday I was one link and one inch on the basket from giving away $30,000 to either of two people, and even though it didn't happen the advertising was worth every cent of the sponsors money. Just watch the flow on from that in the future.
While we are talking about the World Record...go Chris Max Voigt, you rock my little German mate. See you next year while I am on my European Tour de Disc Golf.
Thanks
Chris

I guess I looked at it wrong, but wouldnt it be cool if it was 10K no matter what brand of disc. You did a great job marketing disc golf by the way, having big names such as LAF,Budweiser,Outback,Microtel and several others onboard will make this sport grow at a fast rate.Have a safe trip to Australia.

Not sure if Jarvis has been practicing, I kind of doubt it. Although, phenoms don't reallly need to practice/prepare for things as much as the rest of the world :). And like I said, I have no idea if he is even aware of the competiton? If I see him again, I'll definitely ask him about it.
I'm staying in Coos County. My family has a little reunion every year in Bandon at a beach cabin. All family, no golf for this trip.

not to toke anything away from Randy lahm, but at El Mirage, a disc can roll that far fairly easily. I watched the wind pick two of my discs up from flat on the ground. They would wobble forward for a while, then they would pick up enough speed to start rolling. They would keep picking up speed and kind of fade right to left. The discs would roll all the way until they hit something. There was a couple of discs losyt due to the fact that they would roll out of sight. Chasing rollers in a car is pretty cool though. :D:eek:

From what I heard, that is what happened with Lahm's roller. I just wobbled and wobbled and kept wobbling till it hit the edge of the lake. I would have gone further than 1100m if it hadn't hit the edge!
Doesnt that fall into the lost disc provisional?
He should re-tee and take a stroke! :p

still, other people had the chance to take advantage of the same conditions, similar to how the jet stream aided distance record is held.
Had our ace race this weekend, lahm took it... sad thing is no aces were hit. Even at his age he outdrives just about everyone ive seen play in CO and makes it look easy
