I am curious to hear about the new Max. What are your opinions/descriptions of this disc. I will be throwing one around this week and posting my thoughts as well. Lets hear what you have to say...

So far my thoughts are along the range of: Real fast firebird.

Thats really the best way to explain it. I can put it on the same line as my firebird... and it gets there a whole lot faster. I think I've actually managed to add some distance to my firebird lines with it. It seems to have a TAD more glide.

I did manage to put out a relatively controlled anhyzer s-curve bomb with it somewhere in the range of 440-450... I say controlled because I had to put it within a certain 125ish foot wide area or else it'd be in a backyard, or worse... on a house (I have a 600x125 park behind my house). I just ripped it on the hardest high anhyzer line I could and it flew a long ways before coming back. Probably the furthest I've pounded a massive s-curve like that in my life. Mind you I think I threw it with more power than I have before too, because it was the first time I've ever felt CERTAIN I wouldn't turn the disc over into a roller... it is that stable, yes.

My next experiment with it is to take it out and throw it on vertical spike lines and see if I can get more vertical air out of it than I can a firebird (my main disc for those lines). I figure with the additional speed it'll get more vertical penetration before it loses momentum... does that sound right or is my logic off?

I threw one yesterday. A red max weight Max. If I dare to compare, it is very similar to a Predator, but a little faster. Stability is very nice! The grip feels like a TeeRex. I'm guessing that when Innova screwed up the TeeRex they took it, retooled it a bit and now we have the Max, what the TeeRex was probably supposed to be initially (this is just an opinion, treat it as one and don't get offended).

Anyhow, I like it. I threw it on a hole where I normally throw a Predator and it's flight path was more or less identical with the exception of the Max contacting ground probably around 10' further than my average Predator drive.

I can't say anything about the durability of the disc, how long it will stay overstable or anything, but it looks like Innova did a pretty good thing with this disc.

I don't like the grip enough to have it push my Predators out of the bag, so I won't be using the Max at all, but for people who like the grip of the Wraith, and TeeRex and are looking to graduate to a disc they can throw harder without worrying about flipping, the Max is something to look into!

I agree with really fast Firebird, but a tad more overstable. For me, when thrown flat a Firebird goes dead straight with no fear of turning over and then fades at the end. The Max didn't keep that straight line, but hyzered a bit thoughout the whole flight, but not as much as a Monster. Still pretty dang long though and really good into a headwind.

What I really liked was this disc as a forehand roller -- I was messing around walking back from where I'd thrown it, and at about 70% power laid it down with a very slight angle and it hopped up vertical and rolled dead straight. My buddy was standing at the other end of the field from me and it just stayed on a line right at him to about 350 and then sat flat. I've never had anything roll that straight for that long. The nose on this sucker is super blunt and thick, too, so it's designed perfectly for a roller.

I didn't buy it, I have a friend who's sponsored by Innova, they send him all the prototype discs to test out. He let me play around with one they sent him. You can, however, buy them on ebay. They're going for around $30 right now I think.

I got mine off of discgolfvalues.com for $15.99. Right now Mark is on vacation though, so if you order, he won't be shipping out until Monday.

The Star Max is currently only available in the CFR program.

I had a chance to field test a new Star Max. I can't tell the difference between it and a really good Monster. It's not as fast as a Wraith or a TRex (the leading edge isn't thin like those) but it's definately more stable. I sometimes have to dig through a stack of Monsters to find one that will fly like this Max.

I was really thinking about going through the channels and getting one of these, but I just got a new Star Monster and it is pleasantly surprising me. The Star Monster has more glide and carry than Monsters of the past and does for me what I was interested in the Max doing.

I don't see how you came to that conclusion. I found the star monster to not go very far at all, I can see it being good for a skip shot. The Max is the shisnit, you should really check it out.

I tried the star max and star monsters. For me, the monsters are just as fast but a little less overstable so they will stay straight then tail at the end. The max was way overstable and flew like a fast whippet or CFR viper. It started turning right out of my hand no matter how much anny i released it with.
I will stick with the monster.
I have 3 new unthrown maxes with the masters stamp if anyone wants one.

Star Monster = L Mold, not X Mold. Hence the extra glide and carry.

Same question here... how much?

Mine is at the bottom of a flood field on a course full of college/rec players that don't return discs :(

For me, this is the best forehand roller disc I've ever thrown! This thing goes straight, even when thrown through a variety of hard forehand anny angles...very foregiving and easy to throw as a forehand roller for distance. Better than a Firebird for this shot. If you throw forehand rollers you gotta try this one!

What colour is most stable? I have a yellow (no weight), which flies almost like a white star monster 175g.

assuming here that the darker the color the more over stable.

None of them have weights, they are all MAX weight. I have a white and blue, but have only thrown the white. I was ok I m not sure if there is a place in my bag for it yet. I do wish they would bring back a Champ Monster X, I like that the best, along with a Star Firebird. So see no room.
