Who, besides sponsored players, pays the least for their plastic?

Who has got the best deal out there?

I only ask becasue I just paid $51 for four discs (1 star, 1 por, 2 dx!). I can get really good deals, but this guy sponsored my tournament and I wanted to throw him a little somthin somthin.

You should not pay more than......
$8 for DX/Pro-D/S
$10 for Pro/Elite-X/H
$14 for Champion/Z/Evolution Pro-Line
$16 for STAR/ESP
and ~$1.50 shipping per disc
If you do, you are a sucker and making someone else very happy.
This guy (http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZfrisbeerancherQQhtZ-1) has some of the best retail disc golf prices. Your order would've cost......$13.95+$9.95+$6.95+$6.95+$6.00 = $43.80 had you bought from him. But its your money, so you can do whatever you want with it.

Those costs look right except I pay less for DX, like $5 to $6 each.

Is the FrisbeeRancher really selling his collection? I thought FrisbeeMaster was, but I see him buying again. FrisbeeViper is the guy to look out for, he likes everything.

I charge more than any of those people. Before you start moaning about prices, realize we have an actual Pro Shop dedicated to DISC GOLF. Thats all we sell is disc related products. We arent trying to order in bulk and work out of our garage, or out of our living room or basement. For those people, a dollar or two is all thats required to stay in business. I really dont mean to imply theres anything wrong with that, but some people have more overhead to work with than others.

My question: Would you rather save a few dollars or help the disc golf scene grow? Im speaking in general terms, but for the most part NONE of those people do anything for disc golf except profit of it. The Wal-Marts, PIAS, and other secondary markets are rarely giving anything back to disc golf. You people all probably have people in your town that could open thier own freestanding Pro Shop, but would continue to lose business because "so and so" sells for a few dollars cheaper. We run events and sponsor events we dont run, as a way to give back. Does that also help us in our pursuit to stay in business? Yep. But it also opens doors for the disc golf community half you people wouldnt understand. Our area is blowing up for disc golf, and I KNOW we have had a hand in making it happen. Every city wants more courses and more clinics. They want it in the park programs and because of the work of people like Jay and Des, they are working it into the schools. I see it all first hand and Im proud to be helping to make it happen. Yeah, not alot of on-line retailers doing anything for the game but making money off it. If Innova held true to thier promise to cut people off for going under the line on pricing, alot of your on-line/ Ebay vendors would be screwed.

MSRP: Innova

Star: 17.99
Ch: 16.99
Pro: 12.99
DX: 8.99

If you go by MSRP ( Which rarely happens- for now. ) then anywhere you go is a deal. We are priced well under the MSRP, but when you compare it to the prices on-line, it makes you wonder what the point is. We cant compete with people selling Star plastic for 13.95$ ( Suppsedly the lowest you can charge w/o being cut-off ) and thats fine. If it were all about money we would charge MSRP, but I sleep better knowing that its more about progressing the sport in our area and actually giving first hand knowledge of what Im selling than a few bucks extra.

Im not trying to put ourselves on a pedestal. Im just offering an insight as to how and why prices can vary from dealer to dealer. There are a few of the on-liners that DO promote disc golf and sponsor events, ect. They are just very few and far between. To most of you, that probably doesnt mean dick, but ( at least in the Quad Cities ) it means enough that the players here have a place to get thier stuff that isnt there just to profit.

I travel and play in alot of events. At about every one this year, Ive ran into dealers that have to sell out of thier trunk instead of opening a shop, mainly out of fear they will fail. The chief reason they give is that people wont spend the extra buck or 2 needed to make sure they can pay bills. To me, thats totally sad, as most of the communitys have had a much larger club, more courses, and better weather ( We are located in Northwest Illinois ) than what we have. The disc golf community here has been more than receptive and has shown us a great deal of support. So much in fact, we dont really worry at all about on-line sales of current product.

I stay away from eBay as a general rule. I am tired of seeing listings for plastic that is way under priced coupled with shipping that is way overpriced. I know that eBay's rules have forced people to make their money that way but I don't like it.

Luckily Knoxville has a pro shop with great prices and an owner who does a lot for the local scene.
(DX$8, Pro/X$10, Champ/Z$14 and Star/ESP$16 (taxes in).

One should not complain about expensive discs until one buys discs in Canada. DX was $13, Pro/X was $16 and Champ/Z was $20 (Star hadn't been release when I moved to the US) and that doesn't include 15% tax on top!!

In the end I am way happier to spend my money at a local place that gives back. It just so happens that the prices are great and there is no shipping by which to get screwed!

To all my players:

If you see a cash price on here or anywhere else from a legit vendor that beats any of my prices, print it out, bring it to the tournament, and you'll get the same cash price with no "shipping" fee.

My high prices on Innova are because we use funny money so I have to get the same mark-up on everything for funny money sales. Those are brass prices. I can always make a deal for cash.

My much lower prices on Discraft are because Discraft is providing excellent sponsorship in the form of lower prices and free stuff, and I pass that sponsorship along to the players who throw Discraft.

Report from Sweden, typical prices in webshops:
DX/ ProD $9, Pro/X/Gripline $13-14, Champ/Z/ Star is $16 and ESP about $18. Prices you can handle.

If you look at regular sport-shops the prices are totally out of bounce ;) :D
DX/ ProD $18-20 (!!!!), Pro/X/Gripline $28-32 (!!!!!!!!!!), Champ/Z is $38-41 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have not seen any Star or ESP-discs in the local shops yet, no wonder!

As far as retailing in Canada, I used to import discs & the prices are not out of line when doing business "by the book". Every order from both Innova & Discraft had "out of stock" & "back-ordered" plastic. (Even after I requested cancelling any out of stock discs - do not back-order)
With the exchange rate, high taxes and a customs brokerage fee attached to every box coming accross the border the landed cost is nearly double that in the US. :(
Support your local disc vendor. (he is not getting wealthy on the few bucks made on each disc...)

I was aware of what was built into the cost. My point was that people should not complain about discs being too expensive or worry about saving a buck here or there. The poor Canadian (and Swedish and it turns out) bastards have to pay a lot more!

For the last few years, the most I'll generally pay for a disc (and I don't buy the stuff that beats up fast, because I hit too many trees) is about $10 unless it's REALLY special. I generally try to work out trades with discs I win or player's pack discs before I spend cash, too.

My favorite deal is the Gateway misstamp 10-pack, but for that to be workable you need to want 10 Gateways, which I know not everyone does. Come to think of it, as soon as I have the money available I need to send another of those in. Between things I need backups for and new things I want to try I'm sure I can come up with 10 again.
