News Flash !!! The Charlotte Open , Oct 7&8, will have an added perk this year. There will be a spot up for grabs to the US Disc Golf Championships in Rock Hill, the week following the Charlotte Open. The player posting the best score at Hornet's Nest ,(the best score of a player who has not qualified for the USDGC), will be awarded that spot in the Championship. The player will need to make a commitment at the awards ceremony or the spot will go to the player who posted the next best score. This perk does not include entree fee to the Championship, just a spot in the Championship. NOTE : The field at Hornet's Nest is limited to 72 players. Sign up now or you may get left out. There are a lot of Am's here who are going to play at the Nest just to get a crack at the Championship. Pro's, you need to sign up soon to make sure you get to play. Check out our website at http://charlottedgc.com/
Hope to see you on the course, your friend, Stan

Look forward to seeing you here Shwebby. Course work is in progress even as I type. Tomorrow we have a volunteer group spearheaded by local Evan Stechmiller spreading mulch on some greens and then on Saturday we are pouring 7 concrete tee pads for holes on the Web layout. Other course prep goes on as usual and Reedy will be getting a lot of attention for the Am's.

On the flyer it says the best overall score gets awarded the spot. Not just a single rnd's score...correct? Thanks for all the hard work and timeless efforts.

Correct. For those who are playing in the pro field at Hornet's Nest, (regardless of division since all pro divisions are playing the same course), the best overall score of those players who are not already qualified will receive the CDGC sponsors expemption.

Just a reminder that we are limiting the field at Hornet's Nest to 72 players. That will include all pro divisions. So, if you know someone who wants to try to get that spot into the USDGC, tell them to preregister as soon as possible. We are about half filled up at Hornet's Nest at this time. Also, CDGC got 7 tee pads poured yesterday on the par 70 long layout, "Charlotte's Web".That layout will be played during doubles on Friday.

Since the Charlotte Open has a Sponsor's Exemption Qualifying Spot for the USDGC, the C.O. Pre-Registration list will denote those already qualified.

By the way, there has been discussion about who is eligible for the CDGC Sonsor's Exemption. Some have postulated that if a person has already qualified and failed to register , that they should not be able to attain the CDGC Sponsor's spot. That is not how it will be this year. All players , (even those who have previously qualified and for some reason ((unbeknownst to us)) failed to register), who register to play in the Charlotte Open will be eligible for the CDGC Sponsor's Exemption. This is the final word on that issue from this years TD. It's good to be the king !

29 spots left at Hornet's Nest for those who want a shot at the CDGC's Sponsor's Exemption to the USDGC. This field will fill and we are capping at 72 players.
