I understand that in sanctioned PDGA play it is illegal to use anything that would alter the flight characteristics of the disc.

However, in an X-Tiered event (one round night play) would LED lights be considered legal or illegal?

Just getting this clear before glow season :D

Legal if the TD does not ask and simply makes a ruling that they are legal because they don't alter the flight characteristics of the disc. Illegal if he asks the Competition Director. If I were the TD, I'd go with the theory that we no longer have a competition director to ask.

I believe Himing got clearance last year at a night event from the competition director. Ratings even counted.

seems like if everybody's got 'em they're affected in the same (presumably negative) way... a true glow disc without something taped on should fly better so users of those should let it go... I don't really buy the loss of night vision thing [/ducking for cover]

maybe the glow thang is best for winter leagues cuz you always want to play more and then yer free from the short day constrcitions...

some stats from the KC waterworks glowleague which is mostly LEDs and small glowsticks (the baskets are never lit BTW and there's what, at least 3 pin placements for every hole to keep you on your toes from week to week)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks to all for making it another memorable season of Glow Doubles at Water Works. Bonus thanks to TJ Ring for all the assistance (Ted counted wrong again - redraw!!).

I would say that the highlights were a Glow record -13 week one by Bruce Hudson and Mark Stiles, Eric McCabe's $620 Ace, and the partial round in 10" of snow.

Bryan Guthrie came on strong at seasons end winning $102 in the last four weeks to claim the money title. Bryan also had the best scoring average at 48.4.

Weeks - 22
Rounds - 532
Different Players - 85
Average Players - 24
High Attendance - 38
Low Attendance - 8
Players with 10+ weeks - 22
Average Score - 50.7
Fun - Incalculable
Ace Pool for next year - $891
KC Wide Open Donation - $100

We've had co-Competition Directors with Chappy on the Board and Gentry on the Staff. Gentry will continue as Competition Director with a Board member being assigned to oversee competition. If an event is X-tier, there's a wide latitude of things that can be done in a sanctioned event. The only decision is whether the nature of the competition format, or equipment in this case, makes it so ratings can't be calculated.

May we assume that those that who were "elected" into into board positions this year, will be placed into the areas for which they were voted in??

I don't think you can assume anything specifically. Since the new Board will elect the more conventional Pres. VP, Sec & Treas positions, the other assignments for committee oversight won't necessarily be based on their originally elected positions. However, my guess is that only a few of the Board members are qualified for oversight on some committees so they are the likely candidates such as Bellinger for Competition and Decker for Treasurer.
