Tonight in doubles we had an interesting situation. Player A shot and went basically nowhere. Player B shot and had a decent looking shot although into some long weeds. Player A picked up his disc as we figured there would be no problem finding Player B's disc. Well, of course Player B's disc did not show up.

So what is the ruling? Do they go back and play from as close to Player A's lie as can be judged by the group. Do they completely forget Player A's shot as it was picked up and then get a lost disc penalty for Player B's shot and then does only Player B get a retee with the penalty tagged on?

Other options?

The Doubles Rules state that a lie that is picked up is gone forever, so it looks like you are stuck with the lie that has not been picked up. if that disc is lost, the lost disc rule then comes into effect. i would think since it is Best Shot doubles, both players must play the new resulting lie (stroke and erase distance) as per the Lost Disc rule.
