What discs do you have that you don't throw but are NOT looking to trade or sell?
Why are you keeping them?
circle_2
Aug 26 2006, 01:54 PM
Hundreds of discs (200+) sit in my archives...some of which are a collection of thrown (mostly DX) discs...some are in stacks of backups with mild to moderate use...and then there's the unthrown ones that have some value.
(edit) Why do I keep them? I wish I knew...
Backup stacks of used discs are mostly F'Birds, T'Birds, Eagles, Rocs, Rhynos, Aviars, Demons. Most of the drivers predate the better plastics as they would rotate in and out of the bag - ultimately attaining tourney attunement. Re: midrangers and putters - I've stuck with DX plastic over the years as these types of blunter discs can handle tree-hits without too much change in flight. Just a preference...

I am a packrat.
I don't generally sell anything. Discs only escape when I give then away or donate them.
I buy a lot of CFR discs.
I have some that are collectable (at least to me).
I have 20+ backups of the things that I throw.
I have 20+ discs in my cart that need backups......

Just as I expected.
I told my wife that I wasn't the only one with a huge number of discs that never see day light.
I have about 5 that are back-ups.
I have another 5 that are from memorable tournaments. Some day I hope to have a finished basement and they'll go on the wall.
I've been giving away 1-2 discs a week this summer but I still have too many. What I really need is to find my disc opposite. You know that one person in the world who throws completely opposite to the way I throw and therefore would want these discs.

i don't have that many anymore (and just about nothing compared to you guys) but the discs i kept that i didn't sell are mostly tournament discs or drivers i like but are currently not in use or specialty drivers.

look at it this way: if you keep them out of circulation, it helps prompt the making of more -- and more discs in the world means a better world so you are thus helping to make the world a better place ;) (it also helps the disc manufacturer(s) turn a profit so that encourages them to keep making more too) :D
plus think of the cool "antique road show" airing 200 years from now when one of your descendants brings in a box of your old unthrown discs :D

No discs under beds ;)
None stucked away in closet ;)
Say 150+ on the walls , my wife loves it ;)
And more than 300 "ziplocked" in boxes :D
Won some, bought some, some were given to me. The people that gave them to me gave me the insperation to give to others. So my stacks are leaving me. I tend to give away what I don't throw, either at the tourney I TD, or just on the course. Some are harder to give away though and then they become trades! Some go on Ebay, and some I will die with! :D

Don't forget the 20+ backups of the things I used to throw.
I have about 5-7 of everything I throw in storage, ditto for Kat. More for putters, and CE plastic.
All my old backups get mixed into donations (like the LSS random bag o' stuff!). Thankfully I don't change the whole bag out everytime a new driver comes around.
And we have 40 on the wall, with space for another 10 or so. Neat stamps, collectibles, trophy/ace discs etc.
And then we have the minis, which I've hypothesized are related to the rabbit.

Ive got about 100 back-ups of discs I throw and used to throw. A few hundred collectables, CE and all that..
Discs I hope to have not sold before Im dead:
Several "Cam Todd" Teebirds, more than several Blueberry CE Leopards, other high end CE collectables. Rancho protos.
Almost all my stuff became store stock when we opened, so over the next few years it will be thinned out to about nothing.

There were two test runs. I've seen 3 of the original test runs, Ahart and Mark at DGV. I have one of the 2nd test run, got from Mark.
There were 7 stamps that I'm aware of. '83 Worlds, '83 World Games, River Runner, Mungazine, Orbitors Odyssey, Discovering the World, and two Champion Star stamps, one with the TM and one without.
I believe there were 7000 total made, 2000 each in yellow, orange, and pink. Then 1000 in the 130g blue.
Rick Neil did a story on these that was published in the early 90's.
I only have one Mungazine stamped Eagle. It's lightly used with Storks initials on the bottom. I have several blanks, one that was used by Dunipace and signed.
I'm always surprised that when these sell on eBay they don't get as much respect as they should in value.

I agree, I picked up a slightly used Orange, non patent, and its easily one of my favorite discs. I show it off to everyone that comes over. I think I paid less than 30$ for it, and felt bad paying so little, when Id gladly spend $30 for a used CE disc.
Ill be on the lookout for a few unused ones soon, as a X-Mas present to myself.

I'm a little shocked to find out how rare that disc is. It's never been thrown, and it had an X on it ( but I was able to wipe it off ). I only paid $30 for it. I guess the moral of the story is ... that if you ever get the chance to buy a disc from a touring pro who's trying to raise money for traveling expenses ... buy something from them, you never know what you might stumble upon.
I've got a real sweet CFR Classic ROC ( white with a gold Axldog stamp ) if you are interested. CFR priced at just $30. ;)

I've got some random collectibles, but nothing too exciting:
- 2 CE Eagles - one is a blood red mint first run with a rainbow stamp.
- Champion Whippet
- Star Sidewinder with a Champion stamp
- A few 2006 USDGC Rocs - Champ and Star
- An early release 2007 Star Roc
- Des Reading 2x Star Wraith
- USDGC VIP Aviar signed by Barry (part of the partner pack)
- Joe Mela signed DX Wraith (this is perhaps my favorite. I play with Joey all the time, but after walking around with him and watching him tear up Winthrop throwing these bomber Wraith shots, there was a whole new level of respect.)
- 150 class Griffin (it's just such a cool stamp)
- First run Z Tracker, with the plain Discraft stamp
And some others that I don't remember. Piles and piles of discs, way too many...

Off the top of my head, I have a 1983 Huntsville Worlds Eagle (Aero prototype), a 1993 Huntsville worlds disc, a black and gold Shark (for winning advanced in the 1990 Rocket City Super Tour) and a black and gold Dean Tannock Masters world champ disc. A purple USDGC spectator Roc and a purple 2006 eye Roc. A Dean Tannock Master's Champion signature Star Wraith; a yellow SE Super Roc, a 2006 SN AM Championships sparkle Tsunami; a 2006 SN AM Champs Inncolor star something and a few others I can't recall 'cause I'm at work. :D Oh, I had a disc from all 11 Ice Bowls I ran, back to 1994. rWc3523

Several numbered Midnight Flyers (and numbered minis) on the Glow-in-the-Dark wall, lots of tournament stamped disc dating back to the mid 80's, Ace Club discs, and many boxes full of old golf discs (some thrown/some never thrown) and Freestyle lids.
Important to me:
My trophy disc from my first Frisbee event (a premium with Coca-Cola's logo. I won a distance contest at Coca-Cola's 100th Birthday Party in 1986). A DGA disc with the first National Doubles stamp (autograpghed by Ed Headrick) surrounded by a full set of the first National Doubles Glow-in-the-Dark minis.
