Come on Innova, what does Des Reading have to do to get her own disc? In the last three years playing Open Women she has played 65 sancation event which she has won 48 times gotten 2nd 10 times, 3rd 4 times, 4th twice and 5th once. Tell me another disc golf player who has done the same.

If you believe Des should have disc with her name on it like the other Innova World Champs do then please post here to help send the message to INNOVA

Come on women post your feeling on this. :D

Why is it so important to automatically make a Des disc ?

Let me mention that there are many multiple world champions on team Innova.

Dr Rick , for one ,has 5 World Championships, Peter Shive has 7, Dave Greenwell has 4 and Stan McDaniel has 3.

It is not possible to give every repeat champion a disc and how could anyone decide that Des deserves a Signature disc more than 7 time Peter Shive or 5 time Dr. Rick, who is also in the Hall of Fame?

HALL OF FAME !!!!!!

Please let me point out that Des is not more deserving than these other guys with more world titles.

I hope people will get the hint.

Des only beat 24 people to get her title, Dr. Rick beat 51 people this year and 55 when he won his 4th World Championship last year.

Hope this sheds some light on the subject.

There also has been alot of talk comparing Julianna vs Des and how much each person has accomplished.

I'm sure they are Both happy with what they are throwing now.

I don't think there will be any Des disc made any time soon.

We all need to move on to other subjects.

Innova CAN"T make more repeat champions discs? Really? The smart people at Innova can't figure out how to make discs with other champions names on them? Why in the world, not? It's not like they have to invent a new mold or technological breakthrough....or do they....Maybe it's all a conspiracy......

I would kinda like to have a Doctor Dragon or Stan the Man Monster

You just fuel those who want a Des disc.

I want a Des disc. I would not know Rick Voakes,Peter Shive,Dave Greenwell, or Stan McDaniel from Adam if I ran into them in an airport or strip mall. I might recognize Barry (have met) or Kenny (have not met). Des, I have met several times. Heck I have a Jimbob Karshis/Jayson Houston INT PDGA Amateur World Doubles Champions mini. Granted it was given to me by Jimbob but I know them so I'll keep it.

The Des disc if/when it happens will sell. I'd prefer a midrange though.

As a woman disc golfer, I can say that Des has been a huge inspiration for me. Disc golf is a sport dominated by men, and Des has shown the world that women can kick butt at the sport too! (I can say the same about Juliana, Angela, Carrie, Elaine, etc., but this thread is dedicated to Des). Des is an exceptional player, but she doesn't let it get to her head. Des doesn't just take from the sport, but she also gives.

I am one of those people who thinks that Des should be given a signature disc. Giving Des a disc is the ultimate way to recognize her accomplishments, as well as to show the women disc golfers how much Innova thinks of us. Additionally, Open Men and Open Women are considered the most prestigous divisions in the sport. Winning one of these divisions is a huge accomplishment that should be recognized. I can also say that I'd buy a Des disc before I'd buy a goblin or a skeeter or a stingray in whatever plastic Innova thinks of next. (In all honesty, I've started throwing more Discraft because Innova keeps screwing with their stuff.)

When all is said and done, Des is one of my disc golf heros. Her receiving or not receiving a disc won't change that.

CONGRATS DES ON #3!!! Good luck at the USWDGC!

She has had a disc- not for her 3rd title, but she did have one last year, so she has been recognized.
Congrats on this years win Des! Thanks for all you (and Jay)do for promoting women in disc golf!

I think they were talking about something more "mainstream" and available to the general public. A fund raiser is just that, and not quite the same IMO. We want to see something more.

That disc, even new was out of my general price range, and not a disc that you think of when you think of the ladies, by and large.

AND AS ALWAYS.........DES AND YETI BOTH ROCK!

Aug 28 2006, 02:17 PM
Yeah, it's out of my price range! If I did buy one at $40+, I would not throw it and I would love to throw something that had Des's name on it!

I'm not positive, but I think the named player gets a royalty from every signature disc sold.

Aww- I see what you mean! Yeah, I can't afford a $40+ disc, as much as I love Des. Plus, I want one I can throw and don't mind it getting dirty!

The disc wholesales for around 5 dollars and if you add another dollar for Royalty that only 6 dollars so a dealer can sale them for 15 dollars and still come out with a nice profit and us Disc Golfer can own a Des Disc. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif :D
