There are several I could have PM'd, but I thought the questions would get answered better in public.
Who designed McClure and Dovillio?
m_conners
Aug 22 2006, 06:29 PM
Dovillio was designed by Kevin McCoy.
McClure has been around for a long time, not sure who designed it. I do know when it was first designed people on dirt bikes used to go out there all the time and goof off all over the park.

I believe the original McClure layout was designed by Ed Headrick. But it has changed multiple times. I think Dave King and Dave Zooconi had alot to do with the current design. Why do you ask?

I think Jroc is so impressed with the layouts at Mcclure and Dovillio that he wants to fly out the course designers to his course in Abiline so they can layout Abilines new disc golf park :D

Interesting fact. Back in the day the hill that hole 3 basket sits on was a dirt bike jump.

... /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Actually, I designed the original course at Dovillio when I put it in to compensate for the McClure OPen growing to big to hold all players.. It has been changed a little hear and there. I and Dave King are responsible for McClure, and it has been changed a little as well.(Your toughest courses are technically desinged by the faction "ZOOMAC" productions.) This is evident in Blackhawk and Sapulpa :D This story is too long, but what is important is who IS taking care of these courses now.... Thong and Big Nic---- you guys are great , cuz you have maintained these courses and continue great things with the club.

Was that the 1997 or 1998 McClure Open when the temp course was put it at Dovillio?
That course was sick with the waterway having water about 15 feet from the top of the channel!

If we only had more trees around here......sigh.. :(
The reason I ask is that I need the info to finish the course evals I did on them before Worlds. So, whoever you guys think should be listed as the course designers....thats who goes there. Looks like McCoy and Zooc for Dovillio.....Steady Ed, et. all for McClure. Whoever Tulsa thinks should be listed....thats who gets listed.
Sounds like besides Chandler, McClure is the oldest course in Tulsa?

Riverside would be the oldest, I think, then Chandler and McCLure.

Ed Headrick was the main brain for McClure. Stan Korth was also here and a handful of locals rounded out crew. It was interesting to watch Ed and Stan do the bulk of the design. However, they were open to some of the suggestions of the locals and even used some of their ideas. McClure park is the birthplace of disc golf in Tulsa. But we cant overlook Riverside as the original disc golf basket course provided by Virgil Reese Sr. & Jr. IMO, both courses are hallowed disc golf courses. By the way, Ed and Stan were the main brain trust for Riverside also. :) :) :)

Pablo
Aug 29 2006, 08:56 PM
Nope. I'm saying there's a lotta people out there who wanna screw me.
I'm saying Wayne has his own shovel, and I appreciate all the hard work he did for Worlds. (Wayne DOES have his own shovel, right?) Thanks, Wayne, for all the hard work you put in. I look forward to seeing you this weekend. Rust never sleeps, right?
There's no question Mike deserved his own shovel, but that's an old topic, and not one I'm willing to involve myself in. That's between Mike and whomever forgot to give him one and has nothing to do with me.
Love ya MC. I look forward to seeing YOU this weekend, too.
Furdog and Thong...well, maybe Thong can sit on Furdog's back and see over the steering wheel. ;)
Jerry Garcia's dead, Furdog (sorry, Redheaded Aggie, I know it breaks your heart too.) He's dead and gone. His memory lives on, but he's currently wormfood. Just imagine how ripped those worms must be getting. :D
