Am player won cash at Pro Worlds Putting Contest.....

could this deny him of his Amateur Status??

I don't think so. It says in the rules that winning money things like skins and side contests (like putting) does not mean you forfeit your am status in disc golf.

Read this pdf (http://www.pdga.com/documents/2006/06DivisionsGuide.pdf) for information about "Turning Pro"

putting contests do not qualify.

well, I guess most of us began at the AM level.
hopefully there are kind folks around to push the advanced players into the Open instead of scarring off the qualified AM with bagger awards and the like.

Tod A will be in the money soon enough and it should be the pros afraid not any more ams.

Tod's got a solid game and will definitely be cashing in Open in the near future.

I generally think that pushing advanced players into the open division, while alluring in the short run, is detrimental in the long run as some players that move up and are never able to compete drop out of the sport.

Sponsorship is driven by the amateurs in a sport and spectators that don't even play. If I were to draw the lines between divisions, I'd put about 1/3 of the "pro's" back into advanced and the same for advanced->intermediate, and intermediate->rec. Or better yet, only use ratings-based divisions. As it is we've got people playing Open that are the equivalent of +6 handicappers in ball golf.
