As a founding and current member of GVDG, I am proud to say that this is a first class event. Everyone who came last year loved it and I hope that they will all come back and they will bring some friends.

I've played lots of events and I know what a good and bad event is. This is not a good event. It is a superb event.

OK some news about the DEPC 06

We have almost all the holes sponsored for the event so the pros should like hearing that. We are down to 5 holes ($25 each) that need a sponsor. Plus don't forget we have quite a few trees ($10 each) that you can sponsor.

Each hole, each round will have a CTP prize on it.!! Prizes range from a discs, t-shirts, movie tickets, hats and a pair of Arnette sunglasses. This doesnt mean be scared to donate anything else because the more the merrier.

We will have a ton of merchandise to pick from for the am winners and also for anyone to shop at. Thanks to Innova for helping out with this.

And of course there will be some nice surprises. I guess you have to come to find out what they will be

Great Outdoor Provision Company is offering a free pair of Mion sandals for the first hole in one on hole 10 at the DEPC 06. Who will be the one to take this prize? The ace can be from either tee (white or blue, just remember the triple mando on the white tee). After all, it's just a straight shot under 200 feet with nothing in the way really

scottfaison
Oct 11 2006, 05:01 PM
So you like cool merchandise???
Innova is working with us in order for us to provide you with all things disc golf/Innova. Max and I will be going to get a LOT of merchandise from them and bringing it back for the DEPC 06. We should have almost every type of disc we can get our hands on for your shopping/winning pleasure. We also hope to have other forms of merchandise (t-shirts, hats, minis, etc) for your disc golf wish list. This means that am's will get a fun place to shop with their merchandise vouchers and the pros can spend some of that hard earned cash. Along with this, we should also have a selection of Millennium disc.
With this much merchandise, it almost makes me want to be an am again..almost.

scottfaison
Oct 17 2006, 11:08 AM
Players packages have been upgraded. Here is what you will receive in them:
Tournament t-shirt (called the white pages by Max due to all the generous sponsors we had to thank)

One day pass to Gold's Gym (Greenville location)
Bag of chips from Bear Rock Cafe.

scottfaison
Oct 17 2006, 11:12 AM
If needed, we might be adding 2 holes for this event. The reasons for this are:
allows more people to play if we get a full crowd
more holes means fewer people on each hole thus helping the flow
we have someone else wanting to sponsor 1 maybe 2 more holes
the DEPC is so fun, you just want to play more while you can.

As soon as we know for sure, we will post and let everyone know. The decision will be made by Friday and the holes will be setup to practice and will be measured if we decided to. Just wanted to give a heads up

HazMat's Triple Mando is still on 10. There is a solid top part this year with the banner over it. This means no lucky shots sneaking through the ropes. Also it means there might be the solid "thunk" sound heard when it gets hit high (trust me I have heard it enough when I play).

congratulaTTions by the way Schwebb. and all other TTrim that supported N.C. to the FullesTT. man it was so much fun watching you and Brinster battle saturday that is what this sport is all about.

so funny side note when we arrived saturday you where already on hole 4 and 2 guys in the parking lot told me and the crouch that ther was an ace on hole 1 by the lead card and they said it was schwebb so when i was walking up to find the lead card i ran into BS walking to hole 15 greated him and told him schwebby aced hole 1 much to my displeasure i got the REAL story about 5 minutes later not only was it not shcwebby it was brinster and it was not a hole in one it was a chain out. i love missinformation

Its getting so close! Mrs Scotty is printing out stuff and baking cookies. I am getting prizes ready and trying to get stuff organized. The Champions Dinner should be a fun time for all there. I truly mean this when I say I want this to be one of the funnest events you attend this year. Thanks to the GVDG club for stepping up and helping make this event what it will be.

And yes, HazMat is ready to make his appearance once again. Who fears the Gatekeeper of The Meadow?

So Hofmann and Schweb beat us by 2 in one round. Usually these guys beat me by 3 or 4 per round.

You must be 2 strokes better than them!

Sorry for the random post, just thought of it.

Vertical Urge is still around..cool I remember them when I was growing up in that area.

I am going out to the course today to dome some measuring. The two extra holes will be measured and laid out on Friday. If we do not need them, so be it. But if we do find out we need them on Saturday morning, they will all ready be there and ready to go. This also means people can practice them Friday and Saturday morning.
OB and casual relief area on 15 will also be marked on Friday.

And oh yeah, Mrs Scotty is still baking cookies

What OB on 15?

Also, will 3 have a drop zone and will the long tee from last year be used on 12?

Oct 19 2006, 07:00 PM
Hey now,

Looks like we will be rolling to the Meadow around 3-3.30. I'll need to get a ride from there to Jeb's. Anyone going that way with a little extra space?

Might even have a homebrewed Stout or 2...

Thanks and see y'all tomorrow!

33 hrs, cookies still warm. I dont think i can make dbls, would be dangerous driving cause I would make a very hard effort

scottfaison
Oct 19 2006, 08:57 PM
Let me clarify what I was trying to say...
I will be marking the course ob and I will also be marking the casual relief area on hole 15. The tree on the right of the fairway near the white tee fell earlier this year. We have cleared out a lot of the debris, but there is some left. In the interest of the players safety, we are marking it as a casual relief area.
On hole 3 there will be no drop zone. If you go over the top and come up short, you play it from last place in bounds.
Hole 12 will have a long tee like last year. It will be the same location but this year there will be a tee pad out (Disconcept launch pad - thanks to Innova for the use). This tee will be out on Friday for use.

Thanks to Scotty and all my fellow DEP Cup members for an outstanding tournament this weekend. For the amount of stuff from CTPs to baskets moving to changing tees to temp holes and everything....everything was smooth. Pretty amazing for all that to happen.

Congrats to Schweb on adding another W for an already awesome year. I'd also like to thank total randomness that alllowed me to get in ur card the first round watch you shooting a 17 with only like 1 putt for 2 outside the circle - just sick stuff bro.

Congrats to Millsie for the breakthrough win. Look out NC!

Congrats to Kirk for not DQing anyone in his group and thanks for driving like usual and for giving me my hardest laugh in quite some time.

Thanks to Max and PJ for putting me up and I'm sorry I punched bogey.

That 1st and 3rd rnd scarred my psyche I think. :DAfter a day of rest I've gathered my composure a lil'. How can the 4th rnd ratings be roughly 30 pnts worse under tougher conditions than the 1st rnd? Did we all just play better(other than Schweb)?

bschweberger
Oct 23 2006, 08:32 PM
That is prolly my fault for not shooting TThe HoTT round in the lasTT round. plus the course was at least 3 strokes easier during the last round compared to the 1st round.

Oct 23 2006, 08:39 PM
Only 5 players out of the Open field shot worse their 2nd time through the short tees out of 22 players...under tougher conditions.(with 3 holes changing and being easier((for most))

MTL21676
Oct 23 2006, 08:44 PM
Hole 11 goes from the toughest duece on the course to one of the easier ones.

12 gets a little shorter and more drives that were a little off produced more birdie opportunites.

13 got much shorter and easier for righties (which a majority of the field is)

15 didnt get too much easier, however went to a midrange distance, therefore, golfers probably scored better on it.

As for the holes that stayed the same, players were on thier second round on them and were able to adjust to a possible miscue on the first time around.

Just my thoughts.

I agree but 10 down was a 950 in the rain?

MTL21676

thats the problem with a course like that in the ratings. A golfer like me can hit some putts and throw some good shots and keep up with a golfer like a Schweb who just played good. On most courses, if Schweb and I play good, he would beat me by 3 - 5 strokes.

That is why Ratings are not Perfect, they are a living thing that are constantly tweaked and adjusted to come as close to what is right as possible.
They are preTTy right on based what my ratings ended up.

Robert, you shot really close to your rating, and Schweb got ya by 4 strokes a rnd...what does that tell us about the course? Other than it's righty heavy (boy did I feel alone out there being the only lefty) Maybe I should start a thread about how I'm being driven out of the sport cuz I throw with the "Wrong hand?"?

Robert, you shot really close to your rating, and Schweb got ya by 4 strokes a rnd...

That means for the weekend that Schweb played right about his rating. I was simply refering to the last round, which what Brian was refering to in his post, not the entire tournament.

Other than it's righty heavy (boy did I feel alone out there being the only lefty)

I think that the Meadow is def fair. I threw 4 rollers of the tee on Saturday afternoon. I don't throw rollers much except when holes curve hard at the end with either a low celling or at a long distance. 3 of these holes are very simply lefty hyzers.

Maybe I should start a thread about how I'm being driven out of the sport cuz I throw with the "Wrong hand?"?

You would have a legit argument I feel. Most courses are righty friendly, never going to disagree with that.

Hey guys, I wanted to congratulate all the winners this weekend for doing so well. And also all the players that cashed and had a great time doing it. Thanks to all the out of towners for supporting the DEPCup and GVDG. The tourney turned out to be a great success, and it couldn't have been without our club and the support of other locals and you guys. TTrim, good to see you guys and come down more often! Berd, it was good havin ya. Nice to meet you Alex and everyone else that I became aquainted with this weekend. Great times, can't wait for more.

Awesome weekend! The course is something to be very proud of, and the tourney was as well run as it gets. Thanks to everyone for all the work.

Big thanks to Jeb and Tony for the bed, hope to see y'all again soon.

Once again, this will be my favorite event of the year and all due to Scotty and the members of the GVDC.

Great having Jon Vee as my Siamese twin again this year, glad I could share my dream final round with ya buddy. Great playin with BerdMan and Cali again and some first time rounds with Huffman, Andy Bowen and Kyle J.

And big thanks to Bert and Shakey for puttin me up again this year. We need to make sure this event doesn't conflict with a home game next year so #18853 can flick it up.

Congrats Schweb, Millsie, Kirk and all the winners and hope to see you at the FDGC.

Nice win Schwebbie, Great shooting from Eddie Prague! :)

Thanks for noticing MiTTenZZ. Again I want to thank Scotty and the GVDG club along with the sponsors. The course looked great. I wish the Meadow was there when I was in school. This was my highest finish in a B tier tournament and my biggest payday to date. It was also probably one of the most fun tournaments I've ever been to. I got to play with 4 great groups and I got to see a lot of old friends. Doubles was fun too. Thanks to poony for carrying me and helping me pay for my beer all weekend. I can't wait til next year.

D'OH!

I left a bright yellow/green grid stamp Aviar on 10 during rd. 4 warmup. Pretty sure it is in the junk long and left. It has my name and number in it, but it might be faded. Love to get it back, it is an old small bead...

Thanks again for a great weekend.

I'll try. BTW... the results still seem a little off. The scores in open are one stroke better than the scores in Advanced in the "To Par" catagory. A 224 is -19 in pro and -18 in adv. Not sure if that would change the ratings or not.

Now that I have had some time to relax (not really with 2 test this week) and reflect back I wanted to give some thanks and congratulate some people.
Nice job to those who won their divisions
SchweBB - nice playing with you for 2 rounds, you show how fun this game can be
Sarah - thanks for coming and we will try and have you some more competiton next year
Kirk - nice repeat, I think it was the Kwy lime Pie that was motivating you..
Millsie - way to get your first W in your hometown, I was glad to be the TD who presented the trophy to you
Stew - nice repeat to you also, your seat is reserved for next year
Jeff - way to play strong all weekend and thanks for the kind words
Andrea - nice job and I am sure GLU is more than pleased with how you did since he is "riding your coat tails"

I have to thanks all those who contributed to make this a great event.
Many, many big thanks to all the sponsors (way to many to type right now). You all are the reason this event was even possible.
Thanks to Joe Noble, Elizabeth & Jason Myers, Fred Jarrett and WOP for stepping up and helping. You will be thanked again and I would love for you all to help me next year.
Max, you kept me sane and calm so that is no small task. Lets do it again in '07
And of course, Mrs Scotty. I don't know how I managed last year without you so you better believe you are stuck with me next year (and for many years to come). I am the luckiest TD and husband to have you by my side. I love you.
GVDG, wow what a club is all I can say.

EOG - it was a pleasure to play with you. Great shooting at the event.
Hofmann - I am glad you decided to come to the DEPC and also to the Champions Dinner. Way to set another course record
MTL - thanks for doing the leaderboard and score. That is one job I never want to do.
All the people who said thanks or complimented the event, it means a lot to hear it. We put on this event for the players and to know you all enjoyed it so much means a lot.
I am still in awe of how many came to play and how much fun it was. I am also in shock that I actually played decent and managed to "sneak into cash". I owe that to the tournament staff and my sponsor, Mrs Scotty.
Thanks again and see everyone next year. Or should I say Mahalo and Aloha

Incredible tournament, as expected. GVDG is nothing but first class and they go big everytime. Congratulations to all the winners and that includes everyone that played, in my opinion. CuTT, sorry about your antena! It was a star wraith???? I am glad to be a part of such a great club. You guys have helped me in so many ways.....I won't even try to list them all but you know who you are. Thanks to Scotty and his wonderful wife, you guys are just a great couple with huge hearts! The cookies were also a nice touch! Robert as always was a big help with scores and crowd control. Thanks for the basket and the sandals......that made my weekend! I am trying to get as many baskets as I can so that when I do clinics at a school or a park we have plenty of targets. I hope to get nine and eventually set up a small 9 hole when I set up a clinic somewhere. I appreciate everyone's hard work and dedication to this tournament. I would feel ashamed of myself if I didn't thank Okie Rob and all the work he did planting and mulching on the course, thank noodler......missed seeing you there buddy.
