I have been throwing the G5i Demons for years now, and have finally exhausted my stash. I am going to place an order with Discraft in the coming weeks, but was wondering if a Drone could replace my Demons??

Thanx

They have quite a different feel due to their differences in diameter. The Drone is the same diameter as a Roc, where the Demon is the same maller diameter as most drivers.

Get an E Hybrid.

I've been throwing Scouts/Demons for years. I still have a G6i Demon still. (Nice high dome. I've had others that almost flat plateau at the apex) But recently, I picked up an E Hybrid for a buddy of mine. He loves it. I've tossed it a few times also.

To me, it feels like a Whippet and a Demon crossbred.

call the shop, there still might be some g5i's, the drone is nowhere near as overstable, and doesnt last very long.

While I'll agree that the Drone isn't quite as overstable as the Demon, it has lasted just as long for me. Plus, I think the D plastic feels better than the S. The Demons I had were just too hard and slick.

But they also do feel different due to the different sizes, as posted above, so it may depend on if you want the driver feel or the larger midrange feel.

I used to throw a G6i, but then found a G5i and fell in love, till I tried to replace it!

I bought two others, same plastic, same look, not the same disc. The new G5i's are no where near as overstable as my original (it has a MaceMan stamp and I must have won it or traded for it several years ago). Any idea why the ones I just purchaced are not as overstable?

The demon is a much better disc than the drone. It is more overstable and the plastic lasts much longer. The drone that I used to throw lost a lot of its overstable flight after about 3 or 4 tree smacks. Where as I have had the same demon in the bag for almost 2.5 years. It has taken some serious abuse and is still overstable enough to handle a 30+ mph headwind if need be.

I throw the Drone...Even after breaking in, hitting trees, being runover by golf carts, they still are overstable...they just have more glide.

If you want to keep it in the Gateway family, try an E Blaze. I am constantly amazed with how well this sucka handles. headwind calm no matter this piggy is going left and with a little more glide than anything else mentioned on here...

I threw the drone 3 times 1st into a tree then into the ground then I threw it the last time into the lake (sacrifice for a worthless piece of plastic) :D

The S-plastic is head over heels better than the D-plastic. I echo everyone's statements about trying the Hybrid or Blaze, but the new Demons are just as good as the G5i, and this comes from a person whose first Gateway disc was a G5i.

Thank you all for your help. I will be picking up a stack of demons soon and maybe some other Gateway plastic

Demons have a guidance system...and it says to hyzer at ALL costs...though they will kinda glide after going through hel..... :o/msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
Seriously, a Demon is an inspiring disc...that does its job...and does it well.

i love the demon but replaced it with a champion gator (flat) and a z wasp (flat) both have enough hyzer to handle any shot and withstand high headwinds.

So said the person without a ton of armspeed. :D

Stick with the Demons, and many aces will come your way. Just ask my Demon.

Are you guys sure the drone is a larger diameter, what is the max weight allowed.

The Demon is an awesome disc. If there is a hyzer route and it's 250ft or less, it's my goto disc everytime ... it is a very consistant disc. It's always been my secret weapon upshot disc. I like the way it digs in and stays put when it hits the ground ( always near the pin ). Also, it is an excellent choice for any extreme headwind situations.

I haven't thrown a Drone yet ... but if it's being compared to a Demon it must be a good disc too. However, I do like the Champion Gator, it flies similiar to the Demon except that it skips and has more action when it hits the ground.

All the Demons that I have thrown have been in "S" plastic, and are very very very durable ... they last a long time. The Demon in my bag ( actually cart ), has a "Led Zeppelin" stamp on it and I've been throwing it for almost 4 years now ... and it's still very overstable. It's one of my most favorite discs!

Hey Steve,
How is everything going up North?

Have many players had a chance to play on the portable Titans?
We have a few extra permenants if youre still trying to complete that course of yours.

Will they be using your course for worlds next year?

anyone know where i can get some blue 170+ demons? i have tried the shop. they seem to be low on stock right now. dave-are you guys gonna run some demons soon? as far as the gator goes, i throw the champ version now as my overstable mid. it is slower than a demon and a little less overstable at hi and low speeds. indestructable. it does have a skip. so the drone is smaller in diameter than a roc, but larger than the gator...interesting. what the max for a demon?

Dave,

The PW2007 courses are 2 hours north from me, and the AW2007 courses are 5 hours east. However, my course is coming along just fine. I've got 15 baskets out there now, and 2 of the final 3 fairways are almost cleared. And the final fairway won't get cleared untill this winter, so I'll probably be looking at getting a permanent Titan next spring.

Now back on topic .... How do the E-Demons compare to the S-Demons?

The demon can't be ran in anything but "S". It would be too heavy. There were a few "H" Demons at one time...but I don't think I have ever seen an "E" Demon.

You cant really compare the two ( Gateway G5i vs Discraft Drone ) it would be like comparing Prunes (Gateway) to Plums (Discraft) :D

You mean like Demons are wrinkled and Drones are smooth?
