whats your favorite basket? lets avoid the standard bash the other company talk.

personally i have always preffered innova baskets - imo they tend to hold on to putts better and you get less toss out from hard/fast putts. i think its probably b/c they don't put the inner chains 2in from the pole they are actually half way b/w so they actually do something.

I voted for the Titan because I think it catches a little better but I know I am happy when a course has Discatchers because all the Machs spit and the Titan, Strokesavers, and DCs are the best IMO.

I gotta agree with Matt...the Titan has the best catching ability of any basket on the market hands down.

Nothing beats the sound of a Mach III on a solid 30 foot putt.

the first course i started playing at has mach 3's...definitely cannot reproduce that sound at all. but nostalgia aside, i like playing on the gateway baskets best.

Yeah but then a lot of those 30ft solid putts pop back out. :DHappened twice yesterday.

I would have to say the Titan. I never had a cut-through on one of those.

Gotta go with the Titan, catch everything I could throw at it. I also like discatchers even though I sometimes do not think they will catch my disc but they end up catching it :)

I get the most spits on chainstars

JRauch

I have to say a chainstar because the first course I started playing on has chainstars, the first tournament I ever won was on chainstars, the only A-teir I've won I recieved a chainstar, and the course that I work at (thats right I get paid to be at a disc golf course) has chainstars.

I have never putt on a Titan.

I like DGA baskets.

I first started playing on discatchers, and since moving near a course with mach III's, I realize that the discatchers catch much much more. But I have to say my favorite baskets are the Titans; those guys catch everything!

In reality, anything my disc ends up in when I try to make it be there is fine by me. But I feel most confidant posting at Chainstars.

and why wasn't raskets listed? (rusty home made baskets)

Anyone that's ever played ludington knows what I'm talking about.

When you are first playing in the spring, even the stiffest of putts will bounce of the chains! Not like, move them, but physically bounce right off the chains. That, coupled with the fact that the basket was a touch high on some of them, made a few people really good putters. There was even one that, with JUST the right landing, your disc would fall out of the basket.

Chainstar.

The chains seem to collapse around the disc quite nicely, and will pull the disc in even when I thought it was going to bounce off. They also make a great sound when the chains hit the pole.

Mach III got my vote, Titan close behind, while the Discatcher is dead last.

However I understand these not being an option but these local made baskets are by far the best I have ever putted on, (I believe theyve been linked here once or twice also): Discin.net (http://www.discin.net/index.html) The jellyfish is my favorite, while I have also putted on an octopuss. on the jellyfish I accually had A put go in of that angled chastity belt.

Then again Chainstars are the dominatnt basket up north and every region will be a little biased in what they choose.

I am not a fan of the belt. If you dont put flat (I put flat up to 60'), they like to cause bad rollers. And Ive found hyzers break through more than mach III's. I have to say I do not recall ever putting on a Mach I.
Also theres alot of Single chain Discatchers around that may have biased my opinions alittle.

BobHarris

I am biased as I don't have much experience with anything other than discatcher. The sound of a perfectly placed putt in the chains is incredible! Our club has invented a term for hitting the band ( a Donkey) and for hitting the basket ( a Bailey) (derived from a club member's last name- Bailey, alias MasterDonkey). You get a letter each time you hit. Spell either word during the round, pay the card! It's great!

Thats the thing w/ discatchers to me, if the putt isnt in the sweet spot they like to spit on me (I know it all depends on putt style) they really dont like high hits while chainstars and mach III can take them.

the_kid
Oct 10 2006, 10:29 PM
Wow I have the opposite experience with most putts off the pole cutting through on Machs and Chainstars and then when they hit center they bounce out.

Seeing as though we only have 8 Titan courses in the gound were doing pretty well. If we had 100 courses in, this poll wouldnt even be close :D

I wish we had any Titan courses up in New England... the only one I've ever putt at is the one in my backyard, but it 100% got my vote for reasons everyone above stated. They catch every putt that "should" go in and I've NEVER seen a cut-through.
