Guy shows up at Hyzer Creek with a frisbee. I got it from him for an aviar. Looks like the kind of frisbee my brother and I used as kids in the 60's. Weighs 85 grams. On the bottom at the center is the number 4, with the whole schpiel about flat flip flies straight tilted flip curves chicken wing, etc.

Since somebody stole my Malafronte book, can anybody date this for me?

Thanks!!!!!

I'd say it's 1966, give or take a few years. Stancil Johnson's book is much better for ID'ing old Whamo Frisbee's.

60's not worth more than an aviar. I've found a few of these at garage sales. I've never paid more than $0.25 for one :)

Today Phil Kennedy said it's 1966 or 1967. I doubt anybody knows more than he does. He (www.flatflip.com) said...

.................................................. ..............

Morgan...what you've got there is the first version of the Regular Frisbee model... first sold in 1966. The Regular sprung forth from the Flying Saucer mold which Wham-O first sold in 1958 as a smaller version of the Pluto Platter (which they bought the rights to from the Morrisons on January 23, 1957). (The Pluto Platter mold was retooled in 1964 to make the first Pro Model.)

Sometime soon after 1966, they again retooled the Regular mold and added "Regular Frisbee" on top. These are pretty common and usually fetch around $10 tops on eBay.

Phil is the expert on the Flying Saucer and Plutto Platters.
