CB2
Oct 11 2006, 03:53 PM
Even if Microtel isn't cheaper than Radisson ~ why not support a company that actually does stuff for Disc Golf?

disctance00
Oct 11 2006, 04:22 PM
Even if they are a sponsor and do stuff for DG, why should I should feel obligated to spend more money just because they are putting their name to our sport? I looked at Microtel first and didn't feel that was a good deal, of course that was before it was posted they were giving out a deal. Is the deal they are giving out better than the one I got? If not, then I think I made a good decision as far as how much I want to spend to go to Oklahoma and play a DG tournament.

hey pack mule I found this:

As far as the hotel rates...Microtel already has discounted rates throughout their national (and individually owned) chain of hotels. Corporate Microtel does not and cannot determine local rates for each of their franchisees. What corporate has done, however, is construct an online reservation page specifically for the PDGA and disc golf as as whole! This is unprecedented for Microtel and the PDGA. The page can be accessed at: http://www.microtelinn.com/golfdisc. The "GolfDisc" Corporate ID is recognized by the online reservation service, as well as the toll-free call in. The individual Microtel owners are currently being trained and informed about this unique relationship b/n the disc golf and Microtel, so don't be surprised that are not yet totally familiar with it. The agreement is only three months old at most, so the individual owners are currently catching up.

... IF Players are not "current-year" PDGA members , they cannot enter and compete in an A-Tier ... B-Tier and below can pay the $5 "weekend-fee" ... here's some input below from the PDGA Office that will help define your time-lines ...
.
.
.
.
... " So heres how it worksto answer your question: yesand no

The PDGA membership year runs concurrent to the PDGA Tour which is January to December. For first time members OR for those who have not been current for 5 years, if they join/renew after September 1st they will get a jump on 2007 AND the rest of 2006 for free.

Because there are still several A tier events around the country yet to be played in 2006 anyone else renewing now will be renewing for 2006 and will be asked to re-up in December for 2007 (unless they fit the category describe above). They will receive all points and ratings earned having played in PDGA sanctioned events since January 1, 2006 plus issues missed of Disc Golf World magazine (as long as they are still in stock.)

Let me put it another way, if someone not current in 2006 wants to play in a Super Tour event this month or next then they must renew for 2006 and will be asked to renew for 2007. If someone wants to play in a B or C tier event this month or next and dont want points or ratings they may have earned earlier in the year assigned to their number, then they would be best to pay the $5 fee and wait to renew in late November after the last A tier of the year or December for 2007. Based on par 62 from Am Worlds?

Sorry, "real" par 54.

The course is hard, but it is no par 62.

ck34
Oct 28 2006, 09:51 PM
Blackhawk is no par 54 either with an SSA of 55-57. It's at least between par 57-59 even for Open.

I just got off the phone with Nolan. He is pumped! Be expecting good stuff from him @ VPO. Its not every day you beat Barry by 5 strokes!

good job Nolan!

hey , question for someone... how come all pro women get paid? seems wierd given all the emphasis on gender equality these days.

Oct 30 2006, 03:55 PM
I guess, unfortunately for the women, that Wayne is a "Gentleman" and "Old School". I swear I heard the Pro women complaining that Wayne should've been Politically Correct and not paid out all the women because it was unfair bias. ;) :p

But true "Old School" thinking is to pay all Pro Divisions (regardless of gender) on the same scale. If you pay the top 40% of Open players, then you pay the top 40% of Pro Women, Masters, Grand Masters...etc. That is how we did it back in the late '70's and early '80's. Being a Gentleman (as we all know Wayne is) never entered in to the equation, it was all about treating every division the same.

I think that it is funny that ALL the open woman players shot better than PEE-WEE!!!!

I am beginning to think the only reason he plays disc golf is that it provides a large group of people to BUM cigarette's and beer off of. :D:o:D

Being the Gentleman that Wayne is, I don't think that the Pro Women's payouts took away from the payout for the rest of the field. I wouldn't be surprised if Wayne chipped in the extra money from his own pocket, or from a generous "Woman Friendly" sponser like Twisted Flyer.

From my calculations

Pro - $2005 added cash
Masters - $1011 added cash
Pro Women - $828 added cash
Grandmasters - $248 added cash

or by % of entry fee

163% - Pro
150% - Masters
205% - Pro Women
170% - Grandmasters

(This was based on the flyer that says entry fee was $92. With the $4 PDGA fee, that makes an $88 entry fee.)

Lefty,
I am not sure I understand. You pay out one of the strongest womens field w/the least amount of players, in one of the biggest midwest A tiers around. What I see here is reward for coming to one of the best tournys, oh yea OO is the best to visit, before VPO. Most of the top pro players are headed to the VPO sometime today, maybe tomorrow, who cares. Go Wayne pay those women. In T-town, in womens division you have to beat Courtney(period) BTW, good luck Wolf and Courtney at VPO next week. Wolf and Courtney , go win! That TX boy Nolan can play some golf, and congrats to him at the OO and Des also! Last weekend was excellent golf and it was there weekend.

Peace

... p-r-e-t-t-y darn accurate figgers there , Pizza God ... looks like you've been around-the-block with this stuff before , ay? ...
... our total "added-cash" was $4095 ...

wforest
Nov 01 2006, 01:41 AM
... and actually , Bryan ... when posting them all onto Divisions Sunday wee-hours , I had kept coming up with $2002 added to MPO ... I found that too tempting ... moved $4 more into MPO , so that added-cash there would be 2006 ... fitting ...
.
... but ya know how the electronic TD report (whew) rounds "ties" and "splits" up 'n' down ... it doesn't acknowledge .50 on payout , even though that was "actual split" ... so , as I am mailing Barry Schultz his second-place check , I've thrown in another dollar to re-set that added amount at $2006 ... ;)
